I'm buying a new car, and here in Portugal the Mini Cooper S full extras and the Scirocco 200 hp will be close in their price tag. I know they do the same 0-100km/h (0-62mph), but are they equally fun to drive? Can the Scirocco 200 hp match the Cooper S in a twisty road? I would appreciate if you could answer me as a "reply" so I know I've been answered. Thank you a lot!

Já tinha feito um reply mas aparentemente não ficou registado...

Li em revistas estrangeiras que o handling não é propriamente brilhante (pelo menos comparado com Cooper S), portanto fiquei na dúvida. Além do mais há 2 factos novos: em 1º lugar, parece que em termos de preço, o concorrente para o Cooper S é o Scirocco 160cv, e não o de 200cv. Em 2º lugar, vai chegar ao mercado o MiTo de 155cv. E nesse, parece que o desempenho dinâmico é muito bom. Que achas? Que tipo de condução fizeste por aí?

the Scirocco is definitely one beautiful car, it reminds me of a 2 door version of the 2008 STi... Unfortunately, its hatchback design is not very favorable to American eyes... I doubt it would sell very well in the USA....

i'm american and i love hatchbacks (i personally drive a mini cooper). hatchbacks sell here, if you go by the rabbit & GTI, the mini cooper, and the fact that saturn is selling their own version of the astra now. (i know its the same as the opel version, dont flame me saying "THEYRE THE SAME" i know)

i think the real reason that the scirocco isnt coming to the US is that the dollar is weaksauce. i heard once that volkswagen loses money selling cars in the US because of the dollar's non-value.

Really? Then compare look, and prestige of Golf and Scirocco. Golf is just "normal" hatchback passenger car. Volksvagen meant Scirocco as a sports car - and it is a sports car! Old Sciroccos are cult in some spheres, and new one has a chance to become more or less popular.
