  • BBCのやらせは酷い。

The prearranged performances of BBC is cruel.

It seems that it is made to read words.

Of Japanese American? at International school or the Korean ancestry?

As for Maruyama Keita, the head is weak.

It has never heard such a story.

The script of BBC is overflowed in the ignorance and the prejudice.

    BBCは馬鹿。

    極端で信用性のない番組。

  • 'black face'- no. orange face- yes.

  • I think some Japanese fashion is a bit funky, but I adore their school uniforms and culture! :)

  • Japan is so ahead lol.

  • was this made in the ninetys because it doesnt mention lolita or decora fashion which is very important

  • Glad i'm black I don't have to tan if I want to get brown all I have to do is play outside! xD

  • I prefer their real brown hair still... looks more japanese

  • i remember walking in tokyo and had a headache trying 2 look @ everyones fashion

  • I am american and I sure as hell do not have a Louis w.e the name bag or any of those clothes! I think to be trendy and fashionable you don't need to spend that much money to get the look.

  • @xiahnsaya1004

Yeah your right that you dont have to spend much money to be fashionable, but people like to wear clothes with brand names on it (im one of them xD) and not all the brand clothes and accessoires are expensive you just have to find the right shop where they sell them cheaper =)

  • This is actually not the leading trend. Its the most popular among the not very bright girl types. Similar to a "Buffy and Todd going for a round of gold or tennis" Preppy image of the 80's. The attitude is much in that vein also.

The antecedent to this, is basically all the other stuff. ELegeant gothic lolita/aristcrat (female/male victorian images). Punk images. Visual kai and a mix of others from the states and europe that were tossed out over the years. But, its a neat microcosm =D

  • The video by x0FreeBitch0x called Japanese Gyaru Styles gas some crazy trends

  • they look scary =S

  • "pills that make them brown"

  • Oh no! We don't need anymore Snookies in this world! Say it ain't so! What's next, 'Tokyo Shore'?

  • @levar1979 That show would be so boring wtf are they going to do study and sing at the beach? LOL!

  • lol what does the girls bag say at 5:06 doesnt make any scence ?

  • @CMEM1 Japanese translations to English tend to do that.

  • @CMEM1 it's engrish! only in japan ;D

  • I like the fashion here at America, but the Japanese seem to be so, creative. Like you can go out wearing a pink, puffy dress with a lot of lace (lolita) without people staring at you in Japan. It's like you can go out wearing whatever without being so cautious. While here in America teens would wear a Hollister or Aeropostale logo on their shirt and shorts and that's it. I don't know, ithe fashion just seems more interesting in Japan than here. But that's just me..

  • @VocaloidGirlx: Actually, most of the young people who wear crazy fashions in Japan ARE stared at if they wear those things outside of Harajuku or in small towns.

  • @VocaloidGirlx No only, little kids where Hollister/Aeropostale. Young adults, grow up out of that "I wanna look like everyone else" phase. We actually do have great fashions, so does Japan, so does every country.

  • Oh dear ... I misspelled "vids". I wrote "bids", and that was a mistake. I meant to write Vids, short for videos, haha

  • Very VERY cool! Thank you so very much for sharing these fashion bids with us!

I love Documentaries on or about Japan.

    Always have!

  • i think it's funny that they want to be more western when i (i am from england) think it would be great to live in tokyo! i think somewhere along the line you gotta learn to love what/where you got/live :)

  • This must be pretty old. That's some old school gyaru goin on there.

  • "I like brand names because western people have them and I feel I would like to be like western people"-I think that is such a terrible thing to say. Japan is my favourite country in the world because of it's amazing technologie, landmarks, traditions, language, anime, manga,FASHION ...I could be here all day discussing Japan..I really don't understand how anyone who is japanese would want to be more western? How can they not realise how BRILLAINT there country is?If only we cud swap lives....

  • @fr1zz1y You always admire the things you don't have. But once out of your area you discover what good things you had there. You'd have to get out of your daily life once in a while to appreciate the world you're living in :)

Maybe they just didn't have the chance to do so?^^

  • @Quzzichan yeah,i know what your saying:-)You always want what you can't have or don 't have...sorta like how curly haired ppl want straight hair and how people get bored with things easily so they dream of something else to have or get....;-)

  • @fr1zz1y yeees XD But it's actually quite funny to see the western people (including me |D) admire things the eastern people make when they want to be like the western. Yet, what the eastern people made out of their way trying to "copy" it (don't really like using that but can't think of another word right now) is something completely different again. So it's not that ridiculous actually |D

  • they're essex girls with attitude loooooool lmfao

  • japanese fashions are terrible

  • Ugh I wish people in my city are more obsessed/daring about fashion. Everyone wants to look good and look 'trendy' so bad they follow every 'normal' trend in Japan so that they look 'trendy' enough

  • Haha, ohno, fukkin sherlock?

    It's called ganguro

  • When is this from because I heard the style was dying down.

  • This style has beeen gone a long time now... They really should name it, old japanese fasion or something XD

  • To all the people who hate the way the Japanese dress, there's no need to get annoyed. There are plenty of Abercrombie and Fitch stores opening in Japan. Soon all the Japanese youth will be dressing like typical suburban-American douchebags.

  • @DitherSwitch that sucks....

  • this is so misleading, it s not "the Japanese" fashion, they should name the clip as a group of brand dead Japanese teens' fashion

  • dont you call these gal-girls? also i dont like how this is titled japanese fashion. it is only one aspect of the modern day japanese street fashion

  • ganguro girls drink pills which darkin the melanin in ur skin. prettty cool

  • i bet once the ganguro fashion died it was a pain in the ass for them to get there skin back to pale tone lol

  • can any one point me to a better version!? i had to pause it to read the damn subs!

  • 3:09, wooh! Sex Pistols! :D

  • i remember i saw some of these in digimon lol

  • WOW !

The song at 1:50 is Morning Musume's: Koi no Dance Site

  • This documentary was broadcast more than 10 years ago. I cant see them in Tokyo anymore, for they have been already died out.

  • i'm a L.A. native. I live n Shinjuku, Tokyo now. (10 min. train ride frm these crazy kids) I lived n Seoul 4 2yrs b4 i came here, and n NYC 4 2yrs b4 that. Megalopolis areas inspire creativity n it's ridiculous 2 judge these young people 4 expressing themselves. It's not self hatred, it's not unhealthy, it's youth...fun n innocent! They won't dress like that when they're 40, married n working 12 hour days. So leave 'em alone let them b fabulous n enjoy it! You're only young once, remember? Haha!

  • @Tritano I agree except with their use of tanning beds which are unhealthy.

  • @Tritano you made a good point.

  • @Tritano I suppose you think Tarina Tarantino (an American fashion designer from L.A.) shouldn't have hot pink hair at 35 (she'll be 40 in 5 years). Just because you/other people lose their sense of who they are and their sense of style at 40+ doesn't mean all married people with children should have no fashion sense whatsoever. I'm in no way trying to be demeaning to you personally, I just think that way of thinking is somewhat narrow-minded. No one has the right to tell anyone who to be.

  • @Vintpunk LOL bcuz I believe tht after 95 ppl voted my comment up n understood the point i made, 4 u 2 manufacture such a gross misinterpretation seems deliberate. Ur kidding right? 4 u 2 presuppose anything is inappropriate n wht ure twisting n2 my opinion represents a 180 degree deifference! im an artist, i wldnt tell anyone nt 2 express. hw did u miss tht n wht i wrote? i promote wht thr doing! u didn't get tht?! betsey johnson, guo pei, n ur ms tarantino, more power...u really didn't gt tht?

  • @Vintpunk furthermore, on this point, im not 40 n i hvnt lost any sense of myself. n fact im developing a better sense of my self w each passing year. isn't tht ideal?

  • @Tritano And just so you know, since apparently you don't, you may want to do your research and understand what this fashion is about first. It's not just a fashion. Even now many Japanese people in Japan are pretty racist and when this fashion first started in the early-mid nineties people called them dirty and said they looked like they had 'mud all over their skin' referencing the darker skin. The only reason the fashion was hated in Japan was for the skin tone they chose to adopt.

  • @Vintpunk FYI, ive research japanese fashion frm renewed interest among youth n kimono n jinbei 2 gothic lolita, cosplay n visual kei. wht ure referencing is a fashion movement called "Ganguro". like most movements it rivals beliefs of older generations. so again 4 u 2 overgeneralize with racism towards blacks directly misinterprets the movement n history of cultural separatism in Japan. thr completely unrelated. i've been living in East Asia 4 nearly 5 yrs n my experience has been wonderful.

  • I know that comment was old, but it was just pretty sad to me that as a black person you were calling these women and men 'crazy kids' when they're defying their society's racist and ignorant standards.

  • @Vintpunk tht coment ws old but i thought of tke my research n produce a "Tritano Show". obviously thrs a need 4 specificity. n i think u contradict bcuz u say tht if i believe 40y/o ppl shld b conservative (which i dont) thts narrow-minded. yet here u pretty much say "as a black person" i shld agree w/ppl who defy racism. wht if i dnt like thr approach? wht if i dnt agree tht something is racism? BTW do u live n Tokyo? Cuz i hvnt seen any 40y/o's n Harajuku or Shibuya dressed like thz folks, u?

  • @Tritano How was Seoul? And which city do you prefer?

  • @TheCarlScharnberg Seoul ws aweosme! Some areas r still developing. 2 years ago it won the international architecture award. The urban plan cleverly fits old n new n burgeoning culture is the same. Great food, nightlife, art scene. Tokyo on the other hand is international yet oddly insular. Cityscape is fluid, magnificent and diverse. Its on a circular grid, the pace is super rapid, u hve access 2 the best of everything n customer service is supreme! But, if I had 2 choose, I'd go with Tokyo :-D

  • @Tritano wow, all the places you've lived in are the places i want to live in....do you mind explaining why you moved to each place and why you moved out?

  • @BigPaPaOG5 Wow, that's a long story, but n short, I think Americans r pretty insular people n i didnt want 2 remain tht way so i left. I chose Seoul bcuz its the #1 market for English teachers (I'm TESOL). Also, Asia appealed bcuz its so diff frm the Western perspective. Everyone's been to Europe, but I didn't know anyone who'd visited Borneo, u know? So yea, after growing up n L.A., college in Boston, life in NYC I felt if I wanted 2 keep growing I had 2 keep going. It's experiential learning.

  • @kzundiverus

Those aren't real tans. You're fucking stupid.

  • those girls look scary, so brown and blond. Something just doesnt seem right LOL

  • yeh i agree with you

  • I wish more schools in America had school uniforms. -_-

  • @ZeldaSonic93 Well they have them in private schools, where funds are not public but school uniforms destroy the spirit of who we are and what makes U.S different from everyone else. Plus Uniforms do not support the economic structure of the world, fashion does.

    PEACE!!!

  • @ZeldaSonic93 omg. why would you want to wear school uniforms? I would die if I had to wear the same outfit every day!!

  • @wwwyoutubbbecom over in england and ireland(where i live)we wear uniforms and it really isn't a big deal.It cuts out bullshit and there isn't bullying about clothes and what not..plus you don't need to think about what u have to wear in the morning.but in my school you can die your hair, get pierced, wear makeup etc;so it's no big deal.really it's not as bad as u imagine.

  • @ZeldaSonic93 lol no you don't, once you have em you hate em

  • @ZeldaSonic93 no... you dont lol ive had to wear uniform my whole life because the area i live in is so crime infested if you wear certain colors you can get beat/mugged or killed. its not fun to have to wear it for whatever reason

  • Gras is always greener on the other side of the fence... I'm sorry for those teenies, there is something so going wrong there! If they only knew how interesting their own culture and looks actually are!

  • @Seleuce most people think that their own culture is boring, dont they?

  • "symbol of Japanese conformity." You do realize alot of schools in a lot of places have uniforms, right? All of E. Asia, some schools in Europe, even some in N. America. People just love to think of themselves as exceptional, different from others. But our similarities are greater than our differences.

  • fashion is always'll be change generation for anything. a person inspired for music, movie anything, It's not only in japan. everyone have a originality sence.

    from tokyo

  • I buy alot of asian clothes from ebay. Sure the quality isn't that great but the prices are much cheaper than the mall. Plus the clothes are different and unique.

Brands to check out are K&M jeans, japan fashion, number nine, mastermind, ect.

  • Did you try shopping on yesstyle? They sell Asian brands and there clothes are really nice.

  • Yup they have a lot of nice high quality pictures

  • @BosnianBurek omg i shop at yesstyle regulary and i'm in love with, moustly, korean clothes! :)

  • @xxNightberryx Their clothes are quite expensive and the shipping time is fairly long.

  • I love the Japanese since of style! you dont see Americans walking around wearing stuff like that.. ugh I want to wear stuff like that! (im from America)

  • omg the "black-girls" at the start look orange lols. just like when that stupid spray tan first came out, most people were orange it was like the spread of carrot disease or somethinf. XD

I dont really like most of the brand named stuff just because they are too simple for their prize and nothing really special.

  • they invented blues, jazz, comic books, rock n roll and the internet so i say they are very original for a young country.

  • stop making shit up and do some research you ignorant tool

  • wow you are either really ignorant or really thick. So you are actually saying none of those things were invented by Americans? So who exactly were they invented by Einstein.

  • All countries take something from a different culture or country. Why do you think there are McDonalds in Japan? Where do you think the origins of anime and cosplay originally came from? The westerners babe.

So before you start spouting nonsense and calling others ignorant. Back it up first and know your facts.

The only one brainwashing you is yourself. Get your head out of the clouds, sweetie. You're living in a delusional world called your fear.

  • Well there you go. Having your own mind means no one is brainwashing you as it is the same for me. And my mind tells me to disagree with you. Yet it seems you're the one trying to do the brainwashing by stating your opinion as fact. You even made the same comment TWICE. You really want attention huh?

Cultures can't really be stolen, they are more INFLUENCED and borrowed. And please do talk about Japan but it seems you don't have a real clue about the country do you?

  • I never said you should think like me, I was only disagreeing with you. I have the right to do that. So you do agree with me that cultures aren't stolen? The Japanese were inspired by western cartoons. Anime received its particular art style when the creator of Astro Boy became inspired by the Disney cartoon Snow White. But I'm certain you didn't know that.

Insults to my name isn't going to win you any debates or reach valid points. Only kids resort to that behavior. Have fun, child.

  • Wow, now you really did become a little child. Out of ideas, huh? Congrats, you just proved me right.

So sorry if the things I said upset you that much to the point where you can only curse out on me. I'm gonna end our one-sided debate here in respect for the uploader. Have fun winning arguments with that!

  • Japanese girls are adorable just by themselves nothing added.

  • Yes you are so right all countries do steal but sweetie this is a bcc doc on JAPAN. Their for I will talk about JAPAN. I'm brain washing myself NICE. At least I have my own MIND. FEAR as you call it HOW when i think for myself. Girl or who ever you are GOOD BYE.

  • 3:02 sex pistols-pretty vacant... ;)

  • Just one word for the tanned faced girls... 'Melanoma'!!!

btw Japanese ppl and girsl are sooo cute that they don't need these beauty tricks!!! ^^

  • so sad that they have that "western complex." No other Asians have that complex btw, it's called being dominated after the war...psss

  • I'd so love to be wearing a seifuku at school ;P I've lost my chance graduating, hahaha ;P

  • I like all of them. Ganguro can be okay for me as long as it doesn't become to extreme. Overall I think Japanese fashion is quite innovative :) and yes they some of them probably don't dress like that everyday lol XD

  • what the fuckin retard

  • I LOVE THEM. They are rebels. It is okay to be different!

  • Western people ruin there skin, why do the Japanese want to be like them?

  • It;s funny because those girls said they wanted to be like Western people...but Western people often want to be like thm...!

  • harajuku rock but ganguro not so much...

  • waaaay too much make up man :S

aw man no, c'mon. i like their skin color. why want it brown? and barbie sucks

and why want western style when you have harajuku?!

04:44 Ichigo and Inoue from Bleach !!! :D haha

  • Where do these folks work? Surely they don't dress like that everyday.

  • Omg japanese fashion rocks!!!!! but they should stop getting really brown and just stick to a tan or light tan because it looks disgusting

  • its just makeup. dark dark makeup.

  • Actually I think it's fake tanner, Their skin will never go back to normal.

  • what do you mean "fake tanner"?

  • Those sunless tanning lotions that turn your skin orange.

  • who said those are permanent? there's a protein in the self-tanning lotion that dyes the skin, but the skin is continuously ever-growing so it's not permanent. it's the same idea as dying your hair. that's why i prefer tanning under UV light because it lasts longer than self-tanners.

  • They're permanent if you're asian and you abuse them and use an entire bottle of them every day for five years until your skin is an unnatural shade of nutmeg brown.

In principle, if you dyed your hair that much it would be dry and falling out.

  • Those girls don't look as horrible as I've seen it. (I lived in Japan for 2 years) But trust me, I doubt some of them are never going to have normal skin again.

  • i'm half asian and use a self-tanning moisturizer on my face all the while i only tan in the sun when i have time and my face isnt increasing past a certain point in darkness BECAUSE it comes off when your skin exfoliates. plus if they use the tanner too often in one day it'll just clump up into small brown balls of skin and dried tanner. get back to me when you use all the tanning products out there as often as i do. i'm also not a nutmeg brown as seen in my videos. normal color.

  • Whatever. I stopped caring after your first reply, but I'll answer since you are very intent on arguing your point.

No, you aren't nutmeg brown and you are very pretty. But you actually believe that using as much tanner as they do won't have long lasting effects on your skin? Anything has long lasting effects if you abuse it. You apparently don't, the majority of them look like they do.

Use an ENTIRE bottle of tanner every day for five years, then get back to me if your skin is normal.

  • it is impossible to use an entire bottle of tanner everyday. like i said, it will clump up on your skin from overuse. for example, if you dont soap your body for a whole week when showering, you can take your finger in a shower and rub it against your arm. you will see some material rubbing off your skin and forming clumps. that is skin and dirty, and that is the reason why the self tanners won't stay permanent.

  • trust me. if i thought they would stay permanent, then i would have done that a LOOONG time ago.

  • Okay...If I ever get a ganguro boyfriend, I'm never taking a shower with him :)

  • hahaha yah that'd be sexy, having all that stuff rubbing off in clubs.. so hot;) lol ew!

  • Black chicks have a natural brown color, this makeup looks so bloody unnatural and anyone that needs that much shit on their face on a DAILY basis must be really ugly underneath. They look like transvestites.

  • oh fyi, for us, it's tan. for them, it's black face.... this "blackface" does not imply african americans, but similar styles to barbie who is white, but tan, and blonde.

no, no one in japan wants to be black with big butts

  • Fucking ugh. They look hotter in the school uniforms.

  • damn... it the retarded school bitcheness.

    oh yeah.

  • i think the look horrible...if they werent too tanned they will look cool. but thn again...japanese fashion is always over the top and overly done so why not overly tan urself?

  • The narrator has a horrible accent. :(

  • Hahahahaha :D Girls with attitude :P

Where is the attitude? What's with the Barbie shit?

  • gals look cool, but they're too crazy in my opinion

  • .. lol. Not really.

  • ahahahhahahahahahha sure

    Very Note Really...

  • it's gyaru style ^_^

  • i've read about this but for them to be called ''blacked face''.. i feel a bit offended seeing as im african american

  • I get what you mean, so do I

  • They want to be us, in some way. Shit take it as a compliment! Everything does look a little better with with black.

  • yup! :D

  • they want to be black thats why

  • hmm..Karaoke's been Japan social activities between girls in a teenage years~

  • whoa wtf they should not be singing koi no dance site O-O

  • This is a fashion in Shibuya of ten years ago.

They are strange people even if it sees from the majority of Japanese.

  • Japanese fashion is awesome.

  • this is old :( why the thumbs down lol

  • this has been film LONG ago~

  • this is sooooo outdated

  • just because it´s not from now it doesn´t mean it can´t be posted, right?
