The reason it's not in sync is for no other reason than your not playing it verbatim. I have spent thousands of hours making this happen for my video! Check it out, my real drums are synched with the studio version of the song. It's not perfect and is an extremely tough song to do this with. Great drumming! theshamanj

If you can't single out the drum track on the real song and compare it to this, then you shouldn't be trying. Putting music over it with the real drum track makes it harder imo, because you have to distinguish between mine and Portnoy's playing, something that some people may have trouble with, or sometimes might just get it wrong. And I don't have a version without the drums.

@S4VN01 So you're saying that you don't critique videos that you watch? even mentally? and if you add more vol to yourself playing vs the actual music, the music will fill in the rest, then the music you are playing much louder than his drums are obvious, and also we can see what you are playing anyways...? I do know what you are playing compared to the real song, It makes it easier to see your timing and strength on it. plus it makes the video more appealing rather than just drums.

The only reason I don't put the music over it is for some reason even though I play with headphones in and keep decent time (in no way am I saying I'm perfect at the song (the quick tom rolls come to mind, I play them way too quick)), the audio from the song and the audio from the video come off sync. I can either just have my drumming, of just the song without my drumming and you can see me play it. For whatever reason I can't have both. Might be my computer.

@jomomwashere I hear them, I just like to get ahead of myself and sometimes play to fast, so in an effort to keep as accurate as possible for the possibility I dub music over it, I slow down to keep in time with the studio version of the song. I actually prefer live versions of songs over studio sometimes because of the speed of the live versions, which are usually faster.

hey good job on this cover just letting you know though that in the begining of the song you dont just wack the toms and the snare for the triplets or whatever its bass drum. hint you should get a double bass it helps alot good job on everything else though.

@DJZGRAV381 I have double bass and use it constantly throughout the song. I play the beginning with a slight variation of how it was actually played. Portnoy pays it (S= Snare T= all toms B=bass) SSBBTTBBTTBB and ends with a flam on the snare. I play it STBBTTBBTTBBS. Almost the same thing.
