This record came out the week my then girlfriend broke up with me- we got together again and eventually married. We divorced in 1995 due to my stupidity. She died 5 years ago and I never got round to saying what I truly thought and felt for her. Out of all the 4 tops songs this is my favourite and one of my favourite songs of all time. I love all the Holland Dozier Holland stuff but this one was written by a white chap (Jimmy Webb) so bless him for coming up trumps with a classic. Well posted Bob - obviously a man of impeccable taste!

This song i have on vinyl & is in my top 5 songs of all time.. a friend thought the original was by Nina Simone (RIP) v/g however, until i introduced her to this... I write lyrics & attempt to sing! if i was only 10% as good as Levi I'd be happy.
