  • I'M THE FUCKING DADDY

  • let the bass kick!

  • What would Chris Cunningham do without weird music? Rubber Johnny is addicting! I've watched it SO many times. Without that visual, the music would just be annoying.

  • is it just me or do the voices not match their lips. or is it suppose to be that way?

  • @asianbeverage

they are speaking English and its dub in Japanese

  • @Krl246 o

  • reppin the kegs boy!!!!!

  • Aphex Twin and Squarepusher is where most of the modern crap like LMFAO comes from.

  • @17thSHIT no lol

  • Has Chris Cunningham decided if he would direct a feature-length movie? Rubber Johnny was wicked good

  • Wow, mtv had some hint of taste back in the day.

  • ah been ages since ive watched this

  • Chris Cunningham + DnB = Best shit ever

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit i just watched 3 of chris cunningham's MV and i have a major headache... but it's so addicting

  • This is how Noodle escaped...

  • @octagon79 does remind me of Renegade Trio with the bass

  • 5:04 - A THOUSAND YEARS OF PAIN NO JUTSU!

  • Really looking forward to going to see Chris Cunningham at the roundhouse in June anybody else got tickets yet?

  • Chris Cunningham sure must've had influence from Japanese. They are the pioneers for American horror. The Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water, adapted from a Japanese novel, explaining why The Grudge and Dark Water were set in apartments

  • Given enough time, Chris Cunningham will direct a feature-length movie that surpasses anything out there possibly rivaling David Fincher's Fight Club

  • Fucking hate to work there...

  • I love how they're speaking English, but it's overdubbed another language, then subtitled English.

  • That's a mindfuck alright

  • 2:04 Squarepusher inTV?! ^^

  • rockin song

  • dude

  • ah those days when MTV was playing musicvideos and the best ones late at night, such as this one :)

Musicvideos used to be art and not these fucking 3 1/2 Minute no-brainers, with all that fucking occult symbolism that are being played today. Just saying.

  • I think Chris Cunningham and the Japanese pop culture match together perfectly. I think he must have taken a lot of inspiration form the Japanese.

  • @janotosinnumeros

I see some Shinya Tsukamoto inspiration, definitely.

  • @terminaldeity I don't know who that is, but I'll google him/her :)

  • @janotosinnumeros

He directed Tetsuo Iron Man among other weird films. Kinda like the Japanese answer to David Lynch. He's also acted in other films, including Ichi the Killer.

  • At first, I was all like, "this is a scary movie...soo scary"

Then I was like, "she's escaping, go little girl go!"

Then, "oh she knows kung fu..."

    "It's so funny!"

"Wow, is she crazy? Hey she hooked up her dog too, what?"

    "Oh, they switched!"

Finally, "what is that dog saying?"

  • all they need now is an audio track with music that isn't completely shit

  • @romancandlefight shut the fuck up. this is a great song.

  • WHO'S THE FUCKING DADDY!!?

  • I hope Cunningham teams up with someone like David Fincher like how Spike Jonze teamed up with Charlie Kaufman

  • @SadMammal making a feature length movie and a short music video are two completely different things

  • LOL, beginning looks like a parody of the move IT.

  • More movie than music ^^

  • Oh my GOD I have a welsh terrier that looks exactly like the dog in this.

  • bad ass insanity.....

  • lol! watch kid 606 - the ilness better then this shit

  • @UniqueWeekend nobody gives a shit you ingrate

  • @SteveQueenMc so why the fuck are whritting this

  • @SteveQueenMc ingrate satanic

  • wow I had forgotten about this until now

  • EPick brainswap

  • Fantastic track and video.

  • to me, this is more of a short film, not a music video, yet I still think come to daddy has been his greatest work for a music video by far.

  • omg 2:07 looks like an Asian version of my ex-boyfriend.

No wonder I broke up with him... not only was he an ass, he was creepy-looking...

  • Toattly tricked that guard with the dog disguise. Got his Ass.

  • That little girl is bad ass haha

  • Darkish Chillout D&B/Breakbeat tune.

  • THIS WAS ON MTV?

    my mind has been blown.

  • This vid still rocks. I seen this in college when it 1st came out. and yes this was in US MTV.

  • sick... I like it!

  • maybe mtv in asia/Europe but not in the u,s.or maybe it is. i dont know .i dont know everything.just assuming not

  • knew that Old Navy dog was crazy...

  • chris cunningham is crazy about videos like this or aphex twin: come to daddy

  • wait mtv is showing that kind of stuff??? am i missing something?!

  • @profittlich Once upon a time......

  • @profittlich Long time ago, before the dumbing down began.

  • A very rare opportunity to see Chris Cunningham (director of that video) in action on a big screen in the beautiful settings of The Roundhouse, London. Support from 16Bit and Factory Floor. That just cannot be missed!!! soundcrashmusic(dot)com/chris-cunningham/

  • I'm not quite sure yet if I should be excited to see this video again or be depressed cause the caption reminded me there once was a program called 'party zone' on mtv and that they actually played music like this on mtv...

  • amazing!

  • 3:10 song starts

  • girl = insane, NO...

girl = good assed hacker, hell yeah :)

  • @sslitherr Did you just make a comment about her ass? lol, you dirty pedo!

  • what MTV channel actually plays good electronic music videos and not Jersey Shore?

  • slap bass at 6:00 manipulated so brilliantly that it sounds completely electronic. squarepusher is a fucking genius.

  • @AdamSewell

I think he said "who's ur ****in daddy" but it could be

  • cunningham is G.O.D!

and this somehow reminds me of the powerpuff girls theme :P

  • @evanescentpv mostly because TJ broke down and cracked out one of the most commonly used drum breaks in the history of recorded music. Search "Amen Break" if you don't know already, it's an interesting enough ghost of pop (or not so) culture to learn up on. Squarepusher is a big fan of it I gather, he uses it enough, brilliantly, i'll add.

PS. the powerpuff girls must have liked it too, it only plays right before they're gonna kick monster nuts. Another completely viable purpose for the thing.

  • @PawPawNegroBlowtorch just listened to the 18 min documentary on Amen Break, very interesting! thanks :)

  • run gil run

  • When he says, "Come to daddy" is that a reference to Aphex Twin, or did Aphex get it from this?

  • faudrait arreter les drogues quand meme

  • menuda mierda...

  • haha

    01:37 sounds funny

  • I almost seems like the music was edited for the video, not the other way around. Mad respect to Cunningham as a director and visionary, and Suarepusher as a musical mad scientist.

  • I think this music must be much more enjoyable for people on meth

  • XD funny when he said IM THE FUCKING DADDY

  • I am 12 years old and what is this

  • @zomgtehrei

    lol

  • Wow. Chris Cunningham is a genius. Everything synched up so well to the track in meaningful ways.

  • me brain's melting, this is ace

  • cloudone it is completely derivative of jungle music from the early 90's i wish people would stop calling SquarePusher avante garde and original just because he can play bass.

  • Just imagine 'finding nemo' directed by Chris Cunningham

  • @kingstonjambo cooool...:D

  • @kingstonjambo HOHOHOHOH DUDE....That Would Be VERY INTERESTING ! lol

  • @fuckyourself69

Does the name Chris Cunningham and major studio motion picture sound synonymous?

Maybe an indy flick? Weird horror film..that'd be worthwhile. Let the man ease his feet in, not direct some Disney G-Force flick.

  • The guard mimes 'Go to bed' to the second child in english with a japanese voiceover...

  • Why the HELL hasn't a major studio given Chris Cunningham a movie to direct?

  • @FuckYourSelf99

    That's what i'm thinking, mate.

If he directed movies, they would pretty crazy, that's for true.

  • fuck knows why? he is a legend! some day i reckon...

  • @FuckYourSelf99 Cause major studios don't care about producing anything original or anything interesting, their only interest is making money, and if you have noticed that majority of the crap that major studios have been belching out lately (basically remakes and old rehashed ideas), i doubt chris would sacrifice his own artistic integrity

  • @FuckYourSelf99 He could make a nice sci-fi /horror combo movie, like a alien/predator stuff. Or maybe a j-horror. This guy is very talented.

  • @FuckYourSelf99 man back when rumors of a Cunningham-directed Neuromancer were going around, if that ever came to fruition, that would have been amazing.

  • @FuckYourSelf99 He said that lots have, and many companies/studios have asked him to, but he said he's never interested, and much prefers music videos and his own shorts. I also believe he's working on some features/etc., but he's not the director.

  • @FuckYourSelf99 Producing for Bjork, Aphex Twin and Squarepusher isn't good enough? Many people have some self-respect when it comes to their work. Maybe selling out to the corporate masses isn't on his agenda.

  • @waxpusher

"Maybe selling out to the corporate masses isn't on his agenda."

He did a commercial for Gucci...

  • @terminaldeity Well, I think he has been smart enough to "seel out" and work for big corporations and even still be a respected artist and do whatever the hell he wants to do

  • @terminaldeity @terminaldeity Well, I think he has been smart enough to "sell out" and work for big corporations and still be a respected artist and do whatever the hell he wants to do

  • @terminaldeity and pirelli if im not mistaken?

  • @FuckYourSelf99 to scared to

  • @FuckYourSelf99 Chris actually has gotten several offers to direct movies, but turns them down because he still feels he's not on that level yet. However in the future he will probably take an offer sooner or later.

  • @FuckYourSelf99 thats a brilliant fucking question.deprived social structure and no widespread appreciation of surreal art?lol.not to try to be rude.just my two cents. =)

  • I am thinking the same thing. It needs to happen!

  • @FuckYourSelf99 I think people would die from mental and visual over load if he made a feature.

  • breakbeat ppl

  • Great Stuff, this vid/song earned a box of awesomeness from me.

  • most of chrises film clips have a long intro

  • that video made my day

  • actually at the time it was called Drum n Brain

  • would call it breakcore rather then dnb

  • have you heard the term IDM to kind of type his stuff. or is that not what the kids are calling it these days?

  • shame the quality is so bad =/

  • its drum & bass

  • @p1ruPL

actually more like IDM but in a dnb style :D

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahahahahaha

  • I see someone shared my reaction.

  • I think its a good piece fo art as a whole (i mean the picture and the music to it).

  • 6:27 epic LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • aww, the little psycho asian girl is so cute

  • why psycho maybe misunderstood ? but yes she is very cute :)

  • おかしい天才的子がずっと面白いな

we need more videos like this in America

  • 4:05 LOL

  • Im sure mr Squarepusher is a very clever man. Welcome to Europe is one of my favorite songs. I'm sure he's very talented. But this song? Emperors New Clothes comes to mind. Just because its hard to produce doesn't make it good.

  • HOOZ YOR FUKKING DADDY?!? BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBABABABABABABABABBBBBBBBBBBBBANG!! lol

  • who's your fcking daddy??? :):)

  • 4:05 - If there was an award for Best Video Edit To The Amen Breakbeat, this clip wins.

  • @FirstDegreeMedia

Most of the song is the "think break" from lyn collins

  • @ballersack

True. Note the time of 4:05 for my comment. At 4:05 it's the Amen as he knocks on the door.

  • japanese boarding schools are badass

  • . .. ... ..... ........

  • i think people think this music is strange as it ouside the normal, generic RnB and hip hop which is everywhere today which is just "yo nigga, i iz a pimp lol zuk ma dik bitch"

  • not nessecarily all hip hop songs are this style.u are reffering to the mainstream song or the fake gangsta raps.there are some artists though that have actually somethin to offer as mos def.

  • yeah, i mean the mainstream stuff. I do like some hip hop such as atmosphere (:

  • To me, it is not strange or outside normal,it is music to my brain

  • Is anyone else as sick of the overuse of auto-tune as I am?

  • there is good hip hop out there that isnt based on being a pimp

  • I don;t think it's at all strange. When you look at "art" music like that by John Cage in the 50s or electroacoustic like Trevor Wishart

  • @CloudOne1 lolwut

  • @CloudOne1 some people want to listen to more simple music with more predictable beats and less stuff going on. I personally love the complexity.

  • @CloudOne1 So you berate people for disliking music outside the norm... while throwing it all into the same box as moronic drivel... You small minded moron

  • @thecuriouscritic He's saying it's different from that, asswipe.

  • @CloudOne1 hmm I agree and disagree.

the hiphop you are talking about is gangster rap and sometimes underground hiphop but there are actually really great subgenres which contain good beats and good lyrics. You should check out hiphop like atmosphere and fort minor etc. there songs actually tell stories (:

  • This video is a master piece ;)

  • And yet, Jeffinator, I still don't see you being able to make this.

  • Something tells me your logic and view on what defines music is wrong.

  • I like songs with words and meaning. Everyones got their own taste though :).

  • Well you don't like music then... You like words and meaning.

  • That's my point, the lyrics are in the music not the other way around.

  • You got my point wrong, dude. I'm not bashing lyrics.

  • the 'lyrics' and the meaning and emotion conveyed in the WORDS there singing is called poetry.

the SOUNDS they make with their voices convey a seperate kind of meaning altogether. this is music.

  • how is this music? Its sound effects..without the video this would be dumb

  • its Drum and Bass hommie, not as simple as "hoobastank".

  • hoobastank has meaning and depth to their songs..like i said the video is iight but without it it would just be noise...no?

  • dude, shut the fuck up, are you 12? since when did hoobastank have any fucking thing to do with drum and bass? go and bury your head, scrote.

  • I'm just saying music is mathematical which is why it is appealing to the ear. This is random noise that you would hear in a chase scene in a crappy movie..sorry its the truth

  • Sqarepusher, Aphex Twin, all these people do have meaning to their songs, but because the meaning isnt "please cute girl, date me, please!" people dont get it. This kind of music is abstract.

That means that you get to assign your own meaning to the song, instead of it being spelled out for you.

  • if there was no video and just the sound effects, how would you pull meaning out of it? How do you get meaning out of a song with no words? It just kinda sounds like chase scene music from a movie.
