  • I Rather Have My Combustible Lemons!! Give Them Back'

  • This was a triumph.

  • NICE...

  • The arrangement is so wonderfully different. So plain and simple, yet somehow so inexplicably odd and haunting.

    Like Portal itself.

  • Funny story: I actually arranged this very song based on a suggestion for our school's carillon. Lucky for us we have a hybrid cast/digital instrument, because it's a bear trying to fit things on less than 2 octaves of notes.

    The cake is a lie.

  • :D

  • epic epic epic epic epic

  • I wouldn't mind hearing this every hour. :)

  • Goddamn there is no way of making this better than it is. It's beautiful and it's the most unique version of this song i've ever heard, bar none. Infinite kudos to you.

  • OH GOSH THIS IS AMAZING

    Carillons + Portal= EPIC WIN

  • HELLO? WHO'S THERE?

  • We do what we must because we CAN.

  • I had the good fortune of hearing Herbie Hancock playing this carillon at the University of California at Santa Barbara... somewhere around 1973-1974... memory is understandably hazy :)

  • Pfft. Going on what you're saying, this is fantastic. Couple of hiccups sure, but still awesome.

  • where can we download this from?

  • 01010100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01110011 01101111 00100000 01100010 01100101 01100001 01110100 01101001 01100110 01110101 01101100 00100000 01101001 00100000 01101110 01100101 01100001 01110010 01101100 01111001 00100000 01100011 01110010 01111001 01100101 01100100 - yes you can uncode it

  • @FilikB You spelled 'beautiful' and 'cried' wrong in Binary code :o

  • THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!

  • Awesome!!!!

  • You sir are the new defintion of awesome sauce.

  • This is especially funny because anyone who has attended UCSB can tell you: Storke Tower's bells are broken about 10 months of the year. :D

  • O_o WTF

  • Thanks !!!

  • I can't fucking escape glados can i?

  • glados keep appearing everywhere

  • First part is ear-piercing, but from about 0:45 it starts to sound pretty good. IIRC Carillon can be 'difficult' because the harmonics of bells are weird, so stuff that would normally be fine on most instruments lands up sounding dissonant.

  • you should play zelda or something like that! very nice song :D

  • What does UCSB stand for ? Who cast these very nice sounding bells ?

  • ->clochebell:

According to the information I can find, they were made in Holland by Petit & Fritsen.

  • @clochebell UCSB= University of California Santa Barbara

  • @clochebell

Im pretty sure UCSB is University of California Santa Barbra

  • @clochebell UCSB = University of California at Santa Barbara, I think...

  • @kindaubiquitous Awesome Bell Tower !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @clochebell Depends on who you ask. If you ask the faculty, they'd say the University of California, Santa Barbara. If you ask the students, on the other hand, they'd answer the University of Casual Sex and Beer.

My alma mater, class of '08 :-).

  • @changeling0203

I've always been partial you "U Can Study Buzzed"

    Gaucho '04!

  • @changeling0203

  • You sir, are now the conquerer of the internets.

    My life is now complete.

  • wish the campanile would play this at cal!

and people will probably think im stupid for saying this but... the arrow in the pic is just humorous also haha. it's like, geek humor. hard to describe it :D

the whole thing is made of win!

  • @gwilendiel I agree... somehow that arrow is just so randomly appropriate... and hilarious!

  • tsk I knew I shoulda gone to UCSB instead of UCI ;) rock on

  • noo Its GLaDOS funereal D:

  • @Axxinger You've got to be kidding me! GLaDOS bakes your favorite cake and you transported it to your sister with your Portal gun!

  • @Axxinger Don't be silly! GLaDOS cannot die!...that easily!

  • Wow. You get a medal! D

  • Mariah Carey has a bigger range.

  • Most EPIC Video EVAR!

  • you portalroll'd californa ^_^

  • This video is made of awesome!

  • I don't remember hearing this.....and I live close to Storke Tower.. lol.

  • How come this video is suddenly so popular? Did it get mentioned somewhere or is it just by people linking it to each other?

This is amazing. I wish you'd done it here.

  • This is a triumph!

  • WIN.

  • fantastic. the cornell bell tower played the jurassic park theme the other day but this is way better.

  • You just Portalroll'd California.

  • That was awesome

  • Love it!

I only wish I were there in person.

  • i love you. can i have one or more of your babies?

  • Needs video of passersby making the WTF? Face.

  • Mind = Blown

  • Like it better then the original

  • btnheazy03: Fair enough. I know this could have been done orders of magnitude better, but what it comes down to is that I (effectively a non-musician) had to come up with something I could go and bang out on an instrument I'd only seen or touched a handful of times. I'd say it was worth it for the novelty alone, although admittedly I still fantasize about what it could have sounded like done *right*...

  • It just had to be done

  • Is there something wrong with the carillon?

  • easlern: The instrument itself was fine. The individual operating it, well, I'm not so sure. ;-)

  • Im makeing a note here, HUGE SUCCESS!! great job dude

  • Absolutely brilliant! I wish I had been there. You make a past Gaucho proud.

  • Gorgeous. So deep and mournful, despite the up-beat song, exactly as Carillon should sound. You, sir, are amazing.

  • You win everything.

  • Hehe, brilliant!

  • YOU WIN AT LIFE!

  • How the hell do you get a permission to play on a carillon? :O

  • at some universities they have studies and you get credit for preformances

i know UNO (University of Nebraska at Omaha) has the rule, when you do play, it can be whatever as long as it's not complecated

  • Wow, this is seriously a dream for me. I look forward into studying music. I think that I will probly try to go somewhere near one! Thanks!

  • Such EPIC WIN!!!

  • I was saddened when it ended. :(

  • WHAT!? Of all the things I could dream to be able to play on this giant instrument.... Still alive? hahaha.. Weird choice... but AWESOME!!!

  • Can you scan and send me your arrangement of this? I'd love to do this myself, but would rather take an exsisting Carillon arrangement instead of going through all 12 pages of the music and arraning it xP

  • omfg. still alive..on a carillon. that is amazing. and awesome!!!

  • Whoa. That sounds creepy.

    Very impressive.

  • Very cool

  • AMAZING! I love your channel :) Have you seen the 'still a lie parody' of creationism?

  • I just did! :-D It's Awesome!!!

  • wow! awesome!!

that was just wow! I'm speechless.

wish I was there to hear that live

  • Teh Carillon and Teh Coulton and Teh Portal FTW.

  • HOLY CRAP THAT'S COOL!!!

  • Hahaha.... That's awesome.... Wish you went to my school....

  • It's "Still Alive" played on bells, in a tower on a college campus. What's not to get? Didn't you read the "More Info" part?

  • any chance you could make the mp3 available? it's really cool

  • I prefer a MIDI version ^.^

    pleeease

  • Wow, this is just..amazing. Let me tell you, it make me giggle like a little fangirl, haha. Wonderful job.

  • this might be the coolest thing I've seen on youtube this year.

  • Brilliant! Win!

  • this is pretty much made of win

  • very nice indeed. you say it is simple but it has everything it needs to be recognized and it still sounds good. if only I could have heard this live.

  • Wow!! Words fail.

  • Wow. How do you practice carillon without it being a public performance?

  • i think mufflers are put on the hammers.

  • There is a practice console with tiny little aluminum bars instead of giant bells. The problem is that ours is built to a completely different standard from the console in the tower, so even if you practice beforehand, it's always a new experience up in the tower...

  • Yeah... giving us all headaches with the storke towner though... I swear people sit up there for hours and torture students trying to study. Impressive rendition though.

  • I'm making a note here: "HUGE SUCCESS!!"

  • That's a great load of win right there.

  • Amazing!

  • cake is a spy

  • Wow. Very impressive. :3 I'd just die giggling knowing everyone'd have to listen to it!! XD So what song can ya possibly do next to best this?! O_O;

  • Super cool!

  • Huge success.

  • Oh my god! AMAZING everyone could hear it!

  • Congratulations, you did a great job. Hey, and a mention on Coulton's blog doesn't hurt either!

  • This fills me with glee. Thank you.

  • Dripping with awesomesauce.

  • ...you win. What do you win? Pretty much everything ever.

  • You sir, just won the cover of the year award!
