I have seen countless illegals and low income people walk in and out and not have to pay for it, but my wife and I have to pay $100's WITH our insurance that we get from our jobs that we went to college for-- the college we paid for with our own money we got from working menial jobs. Savage is such an extremist and is combining several issues instead of addressing the main issue. Also, we don't have universal healthcare now, and the cost to go into the emergency room is not greater or much greater in states with higher levels of illegal immigrants.
The issue is we are not going to deny sick people needing emergency care, so when anyone doesn't pay, the payees of insurance all pay for them anyway. At least with universal healthcare everyone has to pay something.

So true. I worked in the ER and am currently a Paramedic. I have seen countless illegals and low income people walk in and out and not have to pay for it, but my wife and I have to pay $100's WITH our insurance that we get from our jobs that we went to college for-- the college we paid for with our own money we got from working menial jobs. The only reason prices are high, is because percentage of paying customers is low.
