if you had lots of money, the last choice would be a silly scooby with a daft picnic table on the back. people buy porsches because they are usable sports cars, they depreciate less than most cars. lets face it the average person doesnt know one subaru from another. they look like a mondeo with a body kit and sound stupid( no disrespect to ford owners). least porsche stands out and they are the most profitable car company in the world.
At the end of the day, you want what gives you better bang for your buck. The WRX obviously wins this outright. If you pooled the same amount of cash you payed for the porsche and put it into the WRX, you would have a car able to beat possibly every porsche ever made (with exception of the carerra GT).
By the way, nothing against the STI. Simply as this: a Porsche (even worst with a 997 monster) is a hundred steps above an STI's league. Still, fun to watch video...A lot of potential with the STI...

Yeah, I have a Stage 2 STi and I've beaten a 2001 Porsche Carrera. It's possible for STi's to take down porsches, but only if it's a well tuned STi and as long as the porsche isn't too modded. ;)
I love both (recently became a Porsche fan but I grew up in a Subaru), but hands down the Carrera will win, it's got more horsepower and is naturally a stronger vehicle. Neither car is the loser in this race, they're not even in the same league. It's as simple as that.
