Simply put, because it was the redeveloped form in Macedonism (koine). Alexander took the basis of the already familiar sea trading (athenian) language and developed it as the new (sub language) internationally adapted and reinvented dialect to suit the new conquered and redeveloped world. The Macedonians, Thracians, Illyrians, Scythians, Romans, Asians, Africans all adopted the same (koine) alphabet, with an exclusion of some. But as we all know they were never Hellenes!!

The greek on the stone is the language, old testament was translated in about 200 BC, and new one was written later. But yes you can say they are not greek. Tentov ltd say so! There are enough evidences for existence of separate Macedonian language.
