dunno, i still haven't finished bioshock. kinda bores me. go here, do that, check the map every 10 secs, just another fps with an "atmospheric setting". i finished deadspace 3 times though since then.

Plus, its from the makers of sytemshock. Its supposed to be its counter-part. Overrated is Halo and Call of Duty.

It's a valid objection, simply because the "smarter" thing to do would be to find a place to ambush the player rather than simply run through a chokepoint and shout a chorus of "mein leben" as B.J. Blazkowicz mows 'em down.
BioShock was a good game overall because it had quirky personality. The mechanics of it were uninspiring and the AI used definitely wasn't anything special.
It had some of the attributes that made Deus Ex good, though. I wish a real successor for that game would show up.

I think people who play FPS' on console should have their eyes gouged when trying to review or suggest anything about the game on whole. First Person Shooters should never be made for consoles. A mouse and keyboard make those games, not twiddling your thumbs in a failed attempt to control micrometer sensitive cross hairs.
Their goal was to get rid of FPS gimmicks and clichés. However, they do nothing of the sort. That kind of goal is hard, but you can't back up the fact the a gigantic company didn't try because "it's hard to". All gimmicks and clichés common to first person shooters are still present in BioShock and the developers don't give a fuck if it's good or not.
The game is fantastic, your opinion is your opinion but that doesn't mean you need to go off and make a video to try to change other peoples opinions, asshole.

Lots of material originated from SystemShock2. Go play SS2, you will notice the high level of resemblance in plots and gameplay. BTW, the early design of BS has ever stronger resemblance to SS2.
Leave that aside, BS sure impressed me by its fascinating artistic design and deep philosophical, political approachs.
Bioshock is the Spiritual Successor of System Shock 2, of course the games are similar (as a spiritual successor is something that, although doesn't reference the original, has many similarities as the original).
Uhm... I started playing yesterday, so i am not an expert, but there is not any "invisible wall" you just cannot go by this way, because the stairs are broken!! But you still can find another way to get there and exit that place by this way, so you actually can go though that "wall"... I tried it just now, so trust me.
also, the AI here is obviously going to run at you. they have melee weapons only. how else can they get to you? they could walk, i suppose, but that would make less sense. by running they get to you quicker, and have more chance of getting there before you cut them down.
other than that; how have you enjoyed it?

If I follow this video's logic, the fact that they have a two-minute tram ride, that one of the tens of their plasmids works like a gravity gun, the fact that they sometimes store objects in boxes, ONCE block your path with an invisible wall (as far as I can recall), and have ONE monster closet, that makes it unoriginal.
Besides, the enemies in Serious Sam don't go to health stations when they get wounded or try to flank the player, like I've seen playing bioshock.

btw that "invisible wall" is in fact not one, if you make your way round it you will see that you end up coming down where from the stairs lead up to and then you fall down off the ledge to where you were on it.
Basically what he thought was that Invisible Wall isn't in fact.
You see if you carry on round and up the stairs (opposite the camera) then there is another staiway going down, and that comes out at where he thought was an invisible wall..
okay. that's still an invisible wall, it's just a one-sided invisible wall clearly made to stop the player going up those stairs. the fact that it looked low enough to climb but was completely blocked was annoying

Granted, it's not the exactly genre redefining, but I mean come on, if Bioshock is "overrated" then what do you have to say to all the other cookie-cutter type games that have been churned out for years? How is it "generic:? The closest game to Bioshock came out maybe a decade ago (System Shock). Yeah, the only difference is the graphics, the story, and the gameplay. BTW, that's kind of the whole thing. I'm calling this as BS.

i mean there are a lot of other aspects of Bioshock that you conveniently left out so your argument seems invalid. one of the best places to demonstrate Bioshock's awesome creativity is in Fort Frolic with the mannequin spider splicers and the set-up with Cohen's sadistic murder plot.
not to mention the humanity of the people which is quite evident throughout the entire game- they cry, they plead, they get angry. they exhibit a wide range of human emotion

there are only so many ideas for games and the characteristics within them. the fact that there were SIMILAR aspects of both games is no more than pure coincidence. are you saying that Bioshock is copying Halo, because it features a shotgun? or copying... well i really cant think of anything else, unless you want to take away more examples of what makes a shooter a shooter.
Bioshock is a masterpiece, but it's not perfect. the examples in the video are also examples of petty nitpicking

I think Fear and Resistance 2 are the two most overated games on PS3, and Gears of War sucked, COD 5 was lame, and other than that I can't think of overated games on the spot. BioShock is not overated. And besides, your little rant on the A.I, they were thuggish splicers, of which they have melee weapons. It's a valid objection, simply because the "smarter" thing to do would be to find a place to ambush the player rather than simply run through a chokepoint and shout a chorus of "mein leben" as B.J. Blazkowicz mows 'em down.
BioShock was a good game overall because it had quirky personality. The mechanics of it were uninspiring and the AI used definitely wasn't anything special.
It had some of the attributes that made Deus Ex good, though. I wish a real successor for that game would show up.

I think people who play FPS' on console should have their eyes gouged when trying to review or suggest anything about the game on whole. First Person Shooters should never be made for consoles. A mouse and keyboard make those games, not twiddling your thumbs in a failed attempt to control micrometer sensitive cross hairs.

Their goal was to get rid of FPS gimmicks and clichés. However, they do nothing of the sort. That kind of goal is hard, but you can't back up the fact the a gigantic company didn't try because "it's hard to". All gimmicks and clichés common to first person shooters are still present in BioShock and the developers don't give a fuck if it's good or not.

Yeah I noticed when I played that one of the history chip people talking in the background said "what have you created? Nothing." Like half life 2. And I also noticed Atlas were talking about fetching a CROWBAR in the beginning, sheesh, just a little TOO close to Half Life 2, don't you think? ^_^

BioShock is not over rated. FEAR IS OVER RATED. HALO IS OVERRATED. People have forums with HUNDREDS OF PAGES listing over rated games. And besides, when you showed the footage about the AI, how they just run at you... How are they going to kill you. How are YOU going to kill them. Other than than of that crap I just said, and the AI thing, the Vid was pretty funny, too.

Despite this video makes no sense at all, I do think Bioshock is overated. Don't get me wrong, I think BS is a great game but just doesn't deserve the hype.
Lots of material originated from SystemShock2. Go play SS2, you will notice the high level of resemblance in plots and gameplay. BTW, the early design of BS has ever stronger resemblance to SS2.
Leave that aside, BS sure impressed me by its fascinating artistic design and deep philosophical, political approachs.

Bioshock is the Spiritual Successor of System Shock 2, of course the games are similar (as a spiritual successor is something that, although doesn't reference the original, has many similarities as the original).

Uhm... I started playing yesterday, so i am not an expert, but there is not any "invisible wall" you just cannot go by this way, because the stairs are broken!! But you still can find another way to get there and exit that place by this way, so you actually can go though that "wall"... I tried it just now, so trust me.

also, the AI here is obviously going to run at you. they have melee weapons only. how else can they get to you? they could walk, i suppose, but that would make less sense. by running they get to you quicker, and have more chance of getting there before you cut them down.
other than that; how have you enjoyed it?
i thought it was very good. not all the hype good, but i hated system shock 2.

Ummm...okay. If I follow this video's logic, the fact that they have a two-minute tram ride, that one of the tens of their plasmids works like a gravity gun, the fact that they sometimes store objects in boxes, ONCE block your path with an invisible wall (as far as I can recall), and have ONE monster closet, that makes it unoriginal.
Besides, the enemies in Serious Sam don't go to health stations when they get wounded or try to flank the player, like I've seen playing bioshock.

OH no! how could 2k do such a thing? They've maade an amazing first person shooter with many objectives and different fighting styles by using some thing called PLASMIDS.. PSHH HAHA. btw that "invisible wall" is in fact not one, if you make your way round it you will see that you end up coming down where from the stairs lead up to and then you fall down off the ledge to where you were on it.

Basically what he thought was that Invisible Wall isn't in fact.
You see if you carry on round and up the stairs (opposite the camera) then there is another staiway going down, and that comes out at where he thought was an invisible wall..

okay. that's still an invisible wall, it's just a one-sided invisible wall clearly made to stop the player going up those stairs. the fact that it looked low enough to climb but was completely blocked was annoying
