  • Não sei o seu nome...

  • Very Nice... I am brazilian and I liked it... congratulations...

  • very nice .excellent .* * * * *

  • Banjo não foi feito pra isso!!! banjo é pra Country Music porra!

  • What kind of banjo is that? I play standard 5 string, but that looks like a four string. Also, what tuning were you using? Incredible, by the way

  • you are marvelous

  • Beautiful voice, and a joy to watch when you smile!

  • Amazing :) and beautiful

  • Not only a talented banjo player, but I LOVE you singing voice. Wow! Gotta love it! It takes alot of practice to get both things come out perfect. Keep practicing.

  • why dont you get a guitar or one of those gay small ukuleles if you refuse to play real banjo music!

  • o la em casa.

  • Brazilian music, Tom Jobim, maravilha.

  • you are very very talented !!

  • I want to fallow in my granfathers foot steps.

  • Fantastic....I didn't think a banjo could be cool.

  • That was simply amazing! I clicked on the video unsure really what to expect, but was astounded by both your playing and voice! You are very talented.

  • I really like this... I don't know why... good job. Because I am normally snarky and a bit of a crank.

  • Mehh the banjo sounds way too dry be used in jazz in my opinion.

  • gostei muito!

  • Hot!!!!!

  • you're lovely :)

  • oops you play grate banjo BUT I think that your nice voice has to be accompanied by

an instrument with less treble frqns like

a jazz guitar or a violao. In this clip first comes the banjo sound and your voice is in the back... You are a fine musician .

  • it's also. I'm Brazilian and really enjoyed!

  • Mercedes,

    That was a wonderful surprise.

    Keep sharing your gift.

  • this is great! i want to learn how to play the banjo!

  • what? there's lyrics? don't kill me over this fact but i never knew that! it sounds so tropical on a banjo, i think the song is better expressed in that tone. i like it :)

  • Awesome! I have never heard jazz banjo before! I Like it! :)

  • WOW!

  • sooooo nice!

  • u r such a lovely lady!!!

  • what s name of the mini banjo used in bosa nova?

  • cavaquinho

    tuned: DGBD

  • @kupamon banjo is not traditionally used in bossa nova. It is used in other Brazilian popular genres like choro. Though you might be thinking of cavaquinho, which is very similar to the ukulele.

  • vc entende portugues \????

  • Never imagined it on a banjo. Fine playing as well as singing. Rather refreshing.

  • awseome u and love bad should play a show sometime

  • baby you are nice..

  • Demais... ainda não tinha ouvido uma versão em banjo antes...

    bg pela surpresa...

  • Very cool! Excellent playing delivered with a lot of panache.

  • Awesome, wonderful! You're a fantastic player, and even more so that you can take already cool instrument out of its traditional genre(s) and so well into something so different.

And you have a beautiful voice! : )

  • ok so i used to slack off at work and listen to your clips...i realized i've missed them...so i'm back. still fresh...

    Cheers from toronto!!! :P

btw-do you take requests by any chance?!?!? hehe....i was thinking of Carcarar ...Nara Leao's version.

    tnx. in advance :)

  • You're such a beautiful girl!

  • hey! love all your versions of tom jobim and others! i've already tryed banjo but i cant figur out the chords for bossa nova.. do we have to change the tunning? i play guitar.

  • Excellent version, thx.

  • That is so beautiful! Im brazilian and I could understand you! You're voice is amazing, so sweet. Congradulations

  • Fantastico!!! I'm very glad to hear "bossa nova" played in such a nice way.

You should come to Brazil someday and enjoy the nights of "samba", "chorinho" and "bossa-nova" in a neighborhood called "Lapa".

Thanks for disseminating our music culture.

    Best wishes,

    Patrick.

  • Different. Nice.

  • Aa love this, you sound really good!

  • Com o banjo ficou ótimo. E o a parte em português também ficou muito boa.

  • Very nice. Try arpeggiating the chords a little to give it a little added dressing.

Not to take away from the way you did it, it sounded great.... :)

  • very very nice, the voice is great

  • Mercedez, what an amazing version.. I love the way you make it sound simple and beautiful. This video is one of my musts every day..

  • You have a really sweet voice. Jazz banjo, exactly the way Jobim pictured it when he penned this tune

  • That is a really sweet version! You're great.

  • Gosh........SOOOOOOO SMOOTH...... your amazing.. I`m brazilian, and you`re more brazilian than many of us... way to go!

  • Hi! Did you already know how to speak Portuguese when you started to sing, or did you learn it so you could sing in it?

  • I actually learned a lot of Portuguese just by listening to the music obsessively and then imitating what I heard. This song I recorded back when I first started singing in Portuguese. Now I listen to it and realize that some of my lyrics are completely off!

  • LOVE IT! Great job!

I'm brasilian; you did a good job on the portuguese. Sing more in portuguese and post the videos.

    Good work!

  • im in love and its the first time ;)

  • nice. hey, how did you get to be so cute?

  • Wow... great voice, wild banjo, and fabulous pronounce of Portuguese... !Que delicia!

  • Sweet playing and love your voice. My beloved Tata (grandpa) played banjo in the 40's (he passed away a while back). Thanks for posting my video response.

  • Loved it.

  • very nice!

    good version!

  • Thank you for posting, it's really a beautifull piece. Never heard it on banjo before!

  • Maravilhoso, excelente! Linda versão da Bossa Nova tocado em banjo e parabéns a sua bela voz, são momentos como este que a gente vê como o Tom Jobim permanece querido.

  • mechas, you rock, girl.

  • well done! you would have made jobim proud

  • I love this.

  • Bossa nova on the banjo...there's something you don't hear every day! Some people just know how to try things that no one would have thought of doing and make them work beautifully, and here is a great example. Oh, and did I mention that I adore your singing voice? Well, you have my subscription!

  • that was great!!

  • Nice, very nice. I thank you for all the complements and say the same to ya. Very beautiful version of Tom's "Wave", me and a dear person were watching to it and loved it.

Really beautiful voice, keep on going!

  • how is the banjo tuning? same as a guitar? You singing in portuguese is almost perfect.

  • COOOL!

  • Very good. The banjo needs to be reintroduced into the world of jazz. Bela Fleck and Allison Brown have stepped forward. Hope to hear more from you.

    Old banjo one liner:

You keep pickin that thing it will never heal.

  • muito bom...graças a pessoas, como você, O mestre tom continua imortal.

  • ... is that frailing or somethin? ye hit them string pretty close to the neck... i never seen somebody play the banjo like that, i only play scruggs style.

but i'm also tryin to git in that whole frailing stuff, just for the heck of it.

  • No, this is my own style of playing banjo. I taught myself. I play closer to the neck because it gives it less harsh of a twang.

  • Very beautiful mercedezzz! It's nice to know there are people like you out there making music ... and sharing with us when you can. Love it :)

  • I think Bela Fleck would be proud,(also A.C. )

You have a very pleasant voice. I believe you are going places!

  • AWESOME...from one musician to another.I play Celtic 5 String Banjo.

  • This is very cool, You sound great***** Check Judy and I out from Vancouver Island Canada. thanks

  • funny on a banjo :D, you have a pretty good voice

  • You are so hypnotising, love your vids.

  • Congratulations! As a brazilian Bossa Nova musician I can tell you that your way of singing and playing (and even your pronunciation) is really amazingly good for a non-brazilian.

  • beautiful voice

  • GREAT job, Mercedez!!!!

    Love it!!

    =)

  • beautiful voice

i like your confidence as well

  • Thanks for posting that; I really enjoyed it. I hope you will post a trad jazz song also. Richard

  • Smoother than silk!

    You should have a patent.

  • You definitely deserve to have your name up in lights! Love your voice!

  • beautifully done - nice voice

  • jazz/banjo is amazing. i bet you love Bela Fleck. me toooo!

  • oh... my skin is ... freezed when i listen you sing ... pretty ... awesome ... I love ... congrate...

  • you are very pretty and so is your music

  • Adorei sua voz também. Conhece a música desafinado do Jõao Gilberto? Loved your voice too...

You must try to play a cavaco once, I really think you will love it!!

If its possible, try watching a vid that you can find loking for "armandinho" and "cavaquinho".

They are ugly, but great players!! lol !

    Armandinho plays a diferent cavaco!

  • Adorei seu português!!! I loved your Portuguese!!! Sounds better hum?

  • I'm glad you have this crash on bossa! It would be great to try to do an arrangement where you can put your voice and banjo on top. Would you consider it? How about Filho do alfaiate do Noel Rosa?

  • Do you have a contract with any record company??? coz you should... your voice is a gift from God you should get a contract seriously...

  • Major style points for throwing in the Elis Regina licks after "eternidade" and through "de contar".

  • Wow, didn't you born in Brazil??

You must come here to sing with us!!!

  • Mecedes, this very nice. I love your playing and singing.

  • You're gorgeous as well as the song. Just want to inform you that WAVE(VOU TE CONTAR), is my favourite song in other word my NEVER DIE song in my life, and you work it so well, i love it. So Congratulations !!

  • so fragile, so BEAUTIFUL

  • Your low-key banjo style (low-key but pretty efficient though) is perfectly adapted to your very subtle voice. The contrast between the humble metallic strings and the smooth silky voice is what makes your style unique.

  • YOu sing much metter than you play (I dont mean that you play badly, though)

  • I was having a horrible day until I saw this video. Now all I can do is continuously whistle this song. Thanks :)

  • AMAZING!!

  • brava,

    ciao dall'italia

  • Wow you're really great. Muito bonita...

  • I adored you singing bossa nova. Hear Rosa Passos and Joao Gilberto playing guitar, I believe that they would bring great development to your interpretations.

    parabens!

    =D

    I don't speak english

  • very nice!

  • That was great! I love that song. Oscar Peterson also did a very good version of it, but yours is definitely in my top 3!

  • Wow, that was great. Very nice voice and playing. As a new banjo player (4 months) I think it's neat you are playing non-tradition

  • so when u solo or comp what tuning is your banjo in?

  • DGBD, like a 5-string, but without the fifth string.

  • Hahaha :P

  • beautiful music, beautiful face!!!

  • Great, girl! Bossa Nova on the banjo! Cool and original!

    Congratulations from South Brazil!

  • WoOw you so cute hahaha...
