@unleashedtrojan R9 played along side Zidane in Madrid, and again I repeat that Messi wasn't playing as a striker in Copa America, and he played well in some of those games but he just didn't score. Doesn't mean he didn't play well, he just wasn't scoring. Argentina has other players that have to do that, Aguero, Higuain, Lavezzi and Tevez, Messi had to play behind them creating chances, which he did. Batista knew Messi was going to be defended well and didn't count on him as a forward for that.

@haliplusnancy you watch alot of Ronaldo's goals, especially for Barcelona and Inter, about 50% of them were when he got the ball on the halfway line, and twisted and turned his way past 5-6 players and either rounded or chipped the keeper, and he scored a fair amount of goals similar to that too, and at Inter, all the midfielders he played with were defensive midfielders, you could count Youri Djorkaeff but he played as a supporting striker so I dont count him.

A "defensive mid" is a mid that plays a little in front of the defense, i doubt that inter team was totally defensive.

@unleashedtrojan R9 played along side Zidane in Madrid, and again I repeat that Messi wasn't playing as a striker in Copa America, and he played well in some of those games but he just didn't score. Doesn't mean he didn't play well, he just wasn't scoring. Argentina has other players that have to do that, Aguero, Higuain, Lavezzi and Tevez, Messi had to play behind them creating chances, which he did. Batista knew Messi was going to be defended well and didn't count on him as a forward for that.

Ronaldo was by far over rated not even if the top 20 greatest players of all time according to fifa's list, it was a 1 on 1 he scored nothing special i dont know why he gets so much attention when he scores simple goals and rarely a spectacular one he had a couple of great season when he was young like alot of players but then he played up front in teams that were some of the best which is why he found it so easy to score most good players would have scored as many as him playing for the teams

@haliplusnancy you watch alot of Ronaldo's goals, especially for Barcelona and Inter, about 50% of them were when he got the ball on the halfway line, and twisted and turned his way past 5-6 players and either rounded or chipped the keeper, and he scored a fair amount of goals similar to that too, and at Inter, all the midfielders he played with were defensive midfielders, you could count Youri Djorkaeff but he played as a supporting striker so I dont count him.

@IndianaJoel93 alot of his goals were simply just him kicking the ball in, he doesn't juke 5-6 players, and how are all the mids on a team going to be defensive mids? that just sounds stupid if you are a mid your role is to supply the forward with chances and to help the defense in getting the ball back. A "defensive mid" is a mid that plays a little in front of the defense, i doubt that inter team was totally defensive.

Why do people give Messi all these accolades...Big Ronnie perfomed great at BOTH Club level & International level & also keep in mind that he perfomed GREAT at the 2 top clubs in Spanish football [ Barcelona & Real Madrid] & the 2 top Italian clubs [ Inter Milan & AC Milan].
