Great photos TKO. How does a driver find out about getting work up there? On the internet I see a lot of sites that want to sell a list of trucking companies. Is this really how people get this kind of work?
Never drove on ice...drove in the mud with 80+ tons hauling sugar cane for Hamakua Sugar with 6X6 Autocars, Kenworths & Peterbilts...but the Ice Road, from what I've learned from the show & friends like Doug "TruckerMcD" it's a different world & I won't pretend to know it. I'm 1 of the best truck drivers in the State of Hawaii...but I won't claim I can handle the Ice Road...
Great pics. Where I live in Australia we sometimes drive trucks in 50C and you are working minus 50....some difference, like 100 deg difference. I know a few of you guys up there knock Ice Road Truckers, but most of us never knew what goes on up there until that show came out, but at least now we have some idea.
Looks like the confederates are raiding the north."pirates" .and looks like one of them won't be enjoy it.dead men don't spend.only hell loves them and they can't buy there way out.

Its 17 minutes and 5 songs long, but I think I did a pretty good job. Because of what we do (gov clearences), I can't post about why we were there, but you CAN Google Navy Ice-X 2009 and you can read about what we were supporting for 13 minus 47*(F) days at Deadhorse AK... Enjoy Grain Hauler! (-:
I'll tell you what..this is coming from an American living in the nice comfortable Mediterranean climate of Barcelona. You guys have BALLS...keep on truckin' and living life....
I was just curious to know how many ice roads do they have that link Yellowknife to Inuvik? As far as I know, there are no normal roads between the 2 cities. I think you would then have to drive to whitehorse then up to Inuvik. Also, do they let people drive on the ice roads between yellowknife and inuvik, or are they forced to take the long way?
did i enjoy YES I ENJOYED LOVED IT how long did it take to get all the pics together makes me want to drive but iam 15 and i duno about risk involved in know dicovery did a show on truckers and seen mostaly previews but i love the snow the views all of it makes my heart move and move north one day i will or colorado someplace high never be to ether but stay safe and good luck i know this post was lame but oh well i signup just to post for this one but moving very (lameagin) by :)

@TKO550, Can't they use Grit salt on the roads instead of plowing it?
zeesham13 1 year ago
@zeesham13
Good Day
Road salt won't work at those temperatures,eh (not to mention the big exSpense).
Snow drift can pull the wheels.
Only sand would help add traction.
