  • Great photos TKO. How does a driver find out about getting work up there? On the internet I see a lot of sites that want to sell a list of trucking companies. Is this really how people get this kind of work?

  • Ice road truckers is better

  • Id shure like to come drive the ice roads for a season..

  • This is awesome, great pics!

  • Never drove on ice...drove in the mud with 80+ tons hauling sugar cane for Hamakua Sugar with 6X6 Autocars, Kenworths & Peterbilts...but the Ice Road, from what I've learned from the show & friends like Doug "TruckerMcD" it's a different world & I won't pretend to know it. I'm 1 of the best truck drivers in the State of Hawaii...but I won't claim I can handle the Ice Road...

  • Great pics. Where I live in Australia we sometimes drive trucks in 50C and you are working minus 50....some difference, like 100 deg difference. I know a few of you guys up there knock Ice Road Truckers, but most of us never knew what goes on up there until that show came out, but at least now we have some idea.

  • i just got home three days ago from driving that road, yellowknife to diavik. i miss it already.

  • Looks like the confederates are raiding the north."pirates" .and looks like one of them won't be enjoy it.dead men don't spend.only hell loves them and they can't buy there way out.

Its 17 minutes and 5 songs long, but I think I did a pretty good job. Because of what we do (gov clearences), I can't post about why we were there, but you CAN Google Navy Ice-X 2009 and you can read about what we were supporting for 13 minus 47*(F) days at Deadhorse AK... Enjoy Grain Hauler! (-:

  • I was just curious to know how many ice roads do they have that link Yellowknife to Inuvik? As far as I know, there are no normal roads between the 2 cities. I think you would then have to drive to whitehorse then up to Inuvik. Also, do they let people drive on the ice roads between yellowknife and inuvik, or are they forced to take the long way?

  • what is the truck at 4:19?

  • @otuma1

Its a Tandem steer tri drive (all 3 drive axles can be locked up) Western Star plow truck that as far as i can remember one of the front steer axles can also be engaged through a transfer case to make it a drive axle also. Powered by a CAT

  • I WANT TO GO THERE SO BAD!!!!

  • Slippery hahahaha

  • tyson thanx for the vid bud...awesome pics and awesome music, keep it up!!!

  • thanks rossco!

  • @TKO550, Can't they use Grit salt on the roads instead of plowing it?

  • @zeesham13

    Good Day

Road salt won't work at those temperatures,eh (not to mention the big exSpense).

Snow drift can pull the wheels.

Only sand would help add traction.

  • @RetroCaptain, Well snow tires or chains are better right?

    ;

    '

  • Very good slide show! Amazing.

Once I experienced -46 degrees here in the north of sweden. That was cold as sh*t. Once you stop the truck engines in that kind of temperatures it must be really hard to start them again.

  • I love my country! ; )

  • nice seneries i see them everyday....but always wanted to be a truck driver too so i can see different ones like the mountains or the ones u see.....yeah whats with school buses r they flooding?

  • yes, the buses are flooding the ice to make the road thicker.

  • sweet video. whats with all the school buses. how cold does it get down to. suprised diesel doesnt jell up.

  • -50 is not uncommon.

  • Great video man. Would love to see that in person.

  • really nice video keep making more of them plz. one of the best ice road videos ive seen on youtube. " A slide show of the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Ice Road." wheres that at?

  • Great video man, keep that hammer down and keep on truckin, and keep it easy.later

  • Great slide show, some pretty awesome pictures in there. Keep that hammer down.

  • cool ice road trucker´s are very good i´m german and i´m interested in ice road truckin

  • Truckies do carry the world over

  • You guys got balls of steel, not to mention they are probably blue due to the temps! These boys running up and down I-95 ain't got shit on you. Definently a young mans game!

  • Not a young mans game at all! My dad was up there with me and he is 66years young!!

  • Young mans work?? You start off as a young man then get those years of experience then do it, Ill be 54 in a few weeks and still look forward to going into work every day

  • no kidding! when i clicked on this, i had the youtube volume down and my own music on. And i was expecting to hear the smokie and the bandit music when i turned it on haha

    3. Paul Brandt - Didn't Even See the Dust.

  • we don't have nothin like that here in the uk,but id'e like to give it a go,

  • Basically if your driving anything other than a diesel, then your fucked. It's bad enough here in Minneapolis.

  • That's got to be one of my favorite videos on here, brilliant. But how anyone can ever be brave enough to drive on the ice road I will never know

  • thank you!!

  • Great Slides. Very impressive. I'm a 15 year driver here in the states and I got to say I respect the hell out of anyone who does that. God bless you guys up there and keep the shiny side up.

  • More power to you brothers !

i drive class a in the sunny united states,

    love the slide show,

i will stay down hear and keep the flat landers lined up behind me on the roadsand you keep em on top of things.

    "reverend twist" sunny southern california.

  • Nice pics. A little unnerving...

  • nice stuff tyler thanks for posting

  • I e-mailed RTL a cover letter and a resume, but i still havent heard anything from them in 2 weeks.

I was wondering if they hav a policy not to open attachments in an e-mail, as that was the way I sent them.

  • Thanks TKO,I might get the nerve to give em call

  • I bet they would laugh if someone from GEORGIA wanted to come up there. It's so hot down here it would be a big temp change. I am very interested in trying it. I enjoyed this video. I don't miss an episode on Sunday nights.
