  • Mythbusters busted the idea that a magnet destroys the information on the magnet strip on a card.

  • or u can ask Reptile to spray his acid all over it.. !

  • how to take a shit... the right way

  • yeah right. use a fridgemagnet to delete the informations of your creditcard.

    after that wake up please

  • LMFAO i have no words to describe this video

  • It looks like a piss take but its real XD

  • Is this a joke!! She is making a mockery and thinks people are stupid!

  • Visit drdebt.com he will help you stay debt free

  • in soviet russia credit card cuts you!

  • I always grind up my credit cards into a fine powder, and then secretly feed it to my family. You can't be to careful these days!

  • I suggest actually drawing the lines on the card with a permanent pen before you start. It's really hard to know where you're supposed to be cutting when the pieces get so small...

  • what a waste of youtube's server space.

  • See the Mythbusters segment on magnets and credit cards. You need an industrial strength magnet to change the data on the strip. A normal magnet doesn't have the power.

  • @grunambulax Not true. See the "Video response" for visual proof, and for an explanation: It's not the strength of the magnet, it's the duration of exposure.

  • I like the campfire idea

  • just cut them into small pieces****

  • She's pretty cute :D

Magnets don't work btw. I tried.

  • I burn my cards in a camp fire

  • a lot less work than cutting it in 16 pieces!

  • It's the viking way of getting rid of stuff =)

  • Perfect example of paranoid westerners .....

  • Anyone who says a magnet won't do shit has obviously never rubbed a refrigerator magnet on their bank card to see what would happen.

I have. The card was fucked.

  • I rubbed a 90 pound pull force neodymium earth magnet on mine...

Absolutely nothing happened. Maybe you just have a crappy credit card?

  • that magnet wouldn't do shit to the stripe.

  • overkill

  • I got a better way... just burn it!!! nothing left no numbers no strip... good to go! :-)

  • why not just burn it?

  • take less time and is more secure (this woman is dumb)

  • Yep, why not just burn it. BTW it's fun that way.

  • @KdaUmKdaUm Toxic fumes.

  • maaaan these comment make this vedio a big joke

  • It is much simple to take the card to your local bank they have a recycling program to avoid plastic waste and proper secure ways of avoiding data thieves, I know it because I have seeing it.

So next time you go to the bank take the old cards with you.

    Live is simple my friend.

  • actually, rubbing a magnet over it will only waste time, even an industrial strength magnet will not do anything to a credit card despite popular belief

  • way too much effort, just burn it

  • And smell the plastic smell spreading around your house. Thanks - I'd like not to have cancer because of breathing burning plastic ;)

  • it's called "outside" you know the place that isnt in your house and your not forced to breath it in, step away from it. *facepalm*

  • exactly!

  • microwave.

  • Paranoid

  • Neurosis

  • Are you americans really that stupid that you need a tutorial to destroy a fucking credit card?

  • are you?

  • Haha good one^^

  • @UberRatsoid

    HAHAHAHAHA

  • @UberRatsoid where are you from

  • @UberRatsoid yes they are -.-

  • @UberRatsoid i think she's making a mockery

  • Good 'ol fire works for me.

  • One star for poor science. Running a magnet (especially a fridge magnet) across the strip will do nothing!

+1 for overkill too. A normal shredder is plenty good enough.

  • Didn't watch it. Shredder.

  • Overkill much?

You are more likely to get "identity theft" from filling out personal information online than form someone going through your trash. Of course if you do want to take this route go for it.

I would personally just take a sander to my credit cards on both sides, one half at a time using a C-clamp, if I was that freaked out about it all. Then there would be no chance of getting any data, and you don't have to throw it away in separate trash cans.

    Protect yourself online.
