I love this so much -- just saw it today in fact. I have always found it very moving. It was about the last major attraction Knott's added before they were bought out and the full assault of the roller coasters began to erode the charm of the old place. I'm so glad this attraction has survived.
Thanks so much for posting this. I saw the Spirit Lodge at Expo 86 when I was a kid and it blew me away. Now I'm trying to show it to my own son but of course it's long gone, so I'm thrilled to hear that almost the identical show was recreated here, and I was very happy indeed to see your video of it! As a Canadian and what with needing a passport these days and all, I don't know if I'll ever have a chance to bring him to see it so this is likely the closest we'll get. Thanks for sharing it.
Man i love this show sooo much. It touched my heart. I remember seeing this when i was 7 and I went back there not long ago and i sat next to a kid that looks 8 or 9 and through out the show he was like its fake and all projectors. So it made me realize that kids just don't have a sense of imagination ANYMORE. =*( {their just into technology.}
very awesome, thanks for recording... it's been over 15 years since i seen this, i was always amazed how he told the stories. I'm Alaskan Native and the stories are pretty much correct, and they still tell them in some southern villages today. Alas due to tv's and movies, and other things, our culture is slowly dying away.
Although this brought back awesome memories of seeing the show, seeing it on video just can't capture the magic of that show. For just a few minutes, a lifetime's lessons are taught, if you pay attention. The simple joys of life he describes everyone should be able to relate to.
I was amazed at how convincing it was though. Even though you know it was just lighting tricks, at least in some small part of you inside, you believed it. That's the magic.
I haven't seen this since I was about 8!!And I remember that when I saw it back then, I was really, really mesmerized by this - it took my breath away..I always wanted to see it again, but whenever i went to knotts, none of my friends or family EVER want to go to the mystery lodge - they just want to do the rides. But wow, this is something truly amazing. I'm so glad that something like this is around at amusement parks:)))
wow i remember when i was 3 years old watching the native elder, but i was frightened by the thunder effects lol its so weird because its like a flashback from my childhood, god i miss my childhood, and i miss california cant wait to go back i'm tired of living in new york
Mi familia y yo estuvimos el año pasado en Knotts Berry Farm y disfrutamos de esta lección de vida. Una atracción a la que deberían asistir todos los niños como parte de su formación. Felicidades a Knotts berry Farm
I just went there yesterday its 5:30 and i wanted to see the show then I went on big foof rapids so the show starts at 6;00 and it was the last show of the day after i got of big rapids it was 6;01 I missed the show it seems pretty good
It's a great video, no doubt about it bro. However, do you think that maybe you can get a more updated video of the full show, something that gets the show more clearly?
This was my first job. as the old Indian man. ITs a great show - and i had fun doing it. funny that there are more women who perform this show than men
This is the best thing at Knotts. Almost worth the price of admission by itself. In fact I've gone in just to watch it. I can watch it over and over again.
Fantastic lesson in morals, history, and culture. It should be required viewing for all intermediate schools in Southern California. Thanks to Knotts, the Native tribes, and Corporate sponsorship.
I would like to thank you for bringing this show on Youtube. This is the attraction I enjoy the most out of all amusement parks, Disney doesn't have anything on this. But, it really makes you reflect on your life, and every word brings either a tear or a chill. I hope it stays, if they make it on a DVD, I definately want it.
I just went yesterday and I spoke to the person who works on the tech in the show and she says they are removing that small ride called scrambler. that litle ride across from the rapids. She said, no this show is not going anywhere.
@Ryan120420 dont worry about it leaving any time soon. its used as a haunt maze, and its very popular ( it usually gets a full house, and sometimes they will use the extended line during additional shows.
i know right? This was one of the best show. I seen this when I was a child. I was really scared because of the effects, but after seeing this I miss this.
I LOVEEE THIS SHOW. so amazing and its been apart of my life since i was young!

@dpoagful Pepper Ghost effect The actor is in a different room and his image is reflecting off of a mirror. The smoke is a projection

On the last time he disappears I thought the bird mask was real, but the second time I noticed it was part of the projectors.

I love Knott's rustic charm and its subdued attractions and Mystery Lodge is the best and most emotionally resonant of them all
