I've ALWAYS been so fascinated, by the Corvid species, especially Common Raven's. After being in the avian field, for 20yrs now. I can honestly say, there isn't many other birds out there, that intrigue me as much as they do. I saw this program when it first aired, and i must say, it gives VERY good "insight" into these beautiful yet powerful birds lives.
If man kind ever discovers the secrets to creating a time machine to go back to the beginning of the world, likened to when we sent a monkey as the first in space may I suggest we send a raven or two first.
Hello, I would also like to see this, I've been waiting for it to turn up one of these days, but they will never play it, because so-called "Public Television" has instead become like 'private viewing' as they never air this or many other programs which they claim to air. No, they only want to sell you DVDs, yet I think they still take government funding on top of the virtual extortion of their fundraisers--correct me if I'm wrong.
whats the difference between and raven and a crow?are they the same bird?and are the the same smart, cuz i have crows living across the road and they sometimes steal my dogs food by tricking it
k thanx, anyway i think ravens are pretty smart too, they outsmart my dogs to steal their bones XD.while he is chewing on a big bone the raven swoops down picks up a little bone and "throws " it then my dog goes after than little bone while the raven swoops over and gets the big bone and flys away with it
Plus...Another noteworthy piece here, is just how STRONG a Raven's beak is. This adult Bald Eagle, is around 2 to 3 times the size and weight of this adult Raven, yet it still manages to pull this majestic bird. Never under estimate, the power of a Crow or Raven's beak power. Where they lack talons, like Hawks & Eagles have, the make up for in beak power. I've seen my own backyard Crow's down chipmunks & SQUIRRELS before!!! A few "death blows" from there beaks, and its lights out for there prey.
For starters, Raven's are far from "little". There about 27in in length, with a 4ft wingspan, making them MUCH larger, then there Crow cousins we see in our backyards. However....Not much compares in size, to an Eagle anyway, depending on the species of Eagle that is. One thing about Raven's, is that they can match a Hawk or Eagle in flight, without much effort. They can soar like a Hawk or Eagle, tumble in mid-air like they do, among other aerial displays. And are the largest Songbirds, we have

most likely, larger brain.
iv seen crows do some pretty surprising things before. i only ever see ravens when i go snowboarding. think they prefer the colder temps.
there are some great experiments on youtube involving crows, worth checking out.

The Kea Parrots of NZ might challenge raven for that title. They are not common tho. check it out: youtube . com/watch?v=oAhzmULgoqI&feature=related
