There really is no known method for contacting dead spirits or knowing if they exist at all; It can't be measured in a testable, repeatable way. A person representing the psychic Sylvia Browne argumented against Randi in Anderson Cooper´s show that he was not qualified to judge whether someone has or not psychic powers, because he is an atheist - and most psychics consider gods and spirits as a condition for their powers. For Randi, anyone who believes these things is necessarily wrong, so no one could have psychic powers. Is that being skeptical? Sounds quite religious to me.

I´ve read his papers, there´s nothing unscientific about them. A lot of people accuse him of not conducting proper scientific tests, he has written papers dedicated exclusively to refute these accusations, i´ve read those as well. The critics themselves haven´t. Very skeptic of them.

@skepticallypwnd Evidence for the paranormal is not quantitative. Schwartz for example is gathering qualitative evidence, based on statistics which can be reproduced under controled circumstances. Scientists like Sagan wouldn´t admit they´re experiencing a "paranormal" phenomenon even if a spirit appeared in front of them, unless that experience is translated into a mathematic formula, which might not be possible in this case.

I still do think that, however I remain open minded about what is possible and what is not. I won't make sweeping statements about the whole apple cart just because one of them is bad.
