  • those dush bags who arrest a sweet old lady

  • she should have giving back the ball if she didn't want to go to jail ..if someone is tresspassing that doesn't give you the right to steal from them..it don't matter if your 5 or 500 you break the law you go to jail

  • CONTROL YOU'RE stupid kids lady and leave the elderly lady in peace for FUCK sake.

  • welcome to Police State USA

  • if a ball was in my yard and I had asked them to stop playing in my yard, I would invite my friend around and let his dog rip the shit out of it... after taking a knife to it.

  • I don't have that problem. Any neighbor's kid's ball that comes into my yard gets instantly popped when my German shepherd/mastiff mix gets it in her mouth. It's disgusting to see a little old lady get treated like that, but if some kid's ball comes into your yard there's not much you can do except just give it back or file a police complaint if it causes some kind of actual damage.

  • what the fuck. how about you make sure yor kids shit isnt on her yard. she can do w.e the fuck shewants with whats left on her property. teach your children some respect. or put up a fence and stop complaining. this is the most rediculous thing ive ever seen. shes 90 years old. you say this has happened before? clearly you still havent had the ability to show your kids to pic up their shit. this is pathetic.

  • i bet the ball cost 5$ at the dollar store... Wow... going to jail over a damn ball... wat kinda ball was it is wat i want to know? was it a ball signed n thrown by pattin manning or vince young or wat was so valuable about a ball? the grandma should have called the cops on them!

  • maby the mother will buy a house with a bigger yard if football is high on her priority list.. you go grandma ... if i found it it my yard it now mine... i bet the grand mother worked hard to and bought her house and paide for the landscaping herself... why should she have to deal with your kids crap in her yard.... teach the kid to respect his stuff and other might also...

  • lmfaooo come onn!!! oh america ur fucked

  • the jerk not only threw the ball in the yard they taped the old lady picking the piece of shit up out of her own yard,,,what a bunch of low life trash, keep your damn brats in your own yard

  • of course it's in the US lol, stupid americans.

  • @trialsrida94 canada sucks

  • king of the hill

  • you look so mean you dirty ugly bitch no respect for older spit on your face from all world people get the hell out of our beufifull earth you ugly allien.

  • old bitch

  • Maybe she should try parenting instead of calling the police on an old woman for something that is the fault of her children.

  • Problem: Seems like the kid just mad a mistake, the lady was just being nasty, and the cops didn't know how to handle the situation.

Solution: Tell the mom and kid that any ball found in your yard will to confiscated until January 1St. of every year at which time they will be given to first come first served.

  • Should just buy them a 2stroke engine to run a few hours a day then the neighbors will be happy there doing something else

  • ffs both those idiots floridaman + reform barrack with their pitty fight in the comments. YOUR BOTH FKING WRONG! if a ball fell into another persons garden. you dont trespass. but its not the landowners ball either! you simply LEGALY go to the front door. AND ASK. homo's

  • @coolL9457 shut up you fucking lawyer ass kissin beotch, if my ball goes into the neighbors yard i run and get it and and wave to the old neighbor lady who in turn waves back and asks me how my parents are doing. its not like hes a fucking stranger, you stupid fuck

  • this woman is right what she did, if i owned a house and a kid dropped his ball on my yard, that is trespassing and i own that ball

  • The slightest thin can tick off an elderly person. The boy did it on purpose.

  • the law states that if there is something on YOUR property, it is yours, unless the government (police) want it, other wise you own it

  • @floridaman2000 LMAO you are 24 years old and that's your understanding of the law? Really?

  • @ReformBarackObama so far yes prove me wrong and if i am wrong well i guess i wasnt thinking much, and btw i am against what obama is doing for the record

  • @floridaman2000 So everything that comes into your property becomes yours? You really think that?

So if a woman is walking down the sidewalk and her diamond ring slips off her finger and falls onto your lawn its yours?

And you think she is guilty of trespass if she steps on your grass to pick it up?Really, you think that?

  • @ReformBarackObama yes i do believe that yes

  • @floridaman2000 Hummm my only response is, educate yourself?

  • @ReformBarackObama no my response is i should not be responsible for other people's belongings and their kids that is the law they need to keep everything to themselves and you liberals are lazy fucks wanting others to do shit for you fuck the liberal party and obama and all the people that think like you

  • @floridaman2000: First there is no such thing as "the Liberal Party". Second your comment only serves to prove your aforementioned ignorance. Third you position that the Government has the authority to take private property would make you a liberal. Forth why are you so ignorant? Fifth, I'm A Reagan Republican if you know WTF that is.

Really conservatives just don't have room for dumb fucks like you...

  • @ReformBarackObama well i disagree with what you are saying and you are not changing my mind

  • @floridaman2000 You seem to think what's in your mind somehow has an influence on the truth?

  • @ReformBarackObama you are a fucking retard you fucking hick, you think that if someone places their property in someone elses yard/property that it is that other persons property who is responsible for bringing it back to the other person EVERY TIME IT LANDS THEIR? you obviously have no responsibility at all if it is indeed present at all, you are such a fucking moron, you are a stupid fuck

  • I dont know im kind of on both sides the lady proably shouldnt have taken the ball but they shoudnt have arrested her for it.

  • that old lady deserves it and if you dont like it dont reply

  • @SoulCrusher2239 lol thats what i thought....and then scrolled down and laughed

  • If he works hard for it, he shouldn't have thrown it in his yard. He should value his own property. She should have taken a knife to it and then given it back. If they asked her about it, say some neighborhood dogs got to it before she did.

  • BULL CRAP

  • This old lady sucks. I understand if the kids keep throwing the balls in your yard that you're going to get pissed, but you can't take the ball away. That is, by definition, theft.

  • It's in her yard so it's hers now to bad little boy finder keppers loser wiper

  • Trust me, that's no "sweet old lady." I've had neighbors like her before, and they simply hate kids. She took their football because she's being one of those old bitches to likes to torture kids for being young, instead of simply being tolerant.

I don't blame the mother for calling the cops. How else is that old bitch gonna learn that she can't steal things from kids?

  • its all the teens fault for being a shitty kicker.........

  • that stupid mother said at the end "they can't play in her backyard for the same reason" that dosent sound right. The mother would let her children play in the elderly ladys backyard but not hers... its her own yard for christ sake she's stupid... im in favor of the eldery women

  • @dyumbla she doesnt mean the 89 year old yard she means the woman on the other side.

  • It's just the police's fault they should have just taken the ball and left the woman alone

  • She sounds like a hag.

Petty theft. That will go on her record and she wont be able to get a good job. LOL

  • Scarred for life

  • Oh well, If she breaks the law she should be arrested. She stole somebodys football, the law isn't just going to leave her alone if she killed someone because she is old. So she stole, she got arrested woop de fuckin doo

  • I actually side with both parties. Yes the lady shouldn't have been taken down by the cops like like, but on the other hand she didn't give the ball back. So the ball landed in her yard. Does it mean the kids were playing in it? No. Sounds to me like it's a case of an old lady who just doesn't like kids.

  • This is our world today. We have these unsufferable morons like molesteban that would hurt an old lady if given the chance.

Karmas coming for your sorry ass, BOY!

  • A territorial elderly getting arrested. This just shows when they say next time I'm taking it and do, ramifications could lead to arrest.

  • Over here too eh...well like i said, deal with it or else. My threats aren't idle. I will toss my balls all up in your moms place if you aint careful. And with little authority over her place, she'll just have to deal with it. Got it!!

  • wat a bitch she is 90 give her a brake! wat a homo making the 90 year old go 2 jail over a balL! sheshh! maybe she sould tell her children 2 funuking get it fromt he yard or not play there

  • Moral of this story, keep your balls out of your neighbors yard!

  • why will ure grass get poisoned if the ball falls on it. come on. children play and balls sometimes cross fences. dont be a bitter old prune

  • I remember this happening, I live in Blue Ash also, right next door to some kids, they have been bouncing and throwing balls in my yard for going on 8 years now, I just toss em back over the fence when I go out to cut the grass, LOL. Definitely some petty shit, the cops around here suck "balls".

  • Both sides as retarded. Stupid american white trash.

  • That's the funniest thing I've read today.

Someone from Finland with an opinion...lol

    Now I've heard it all.

You'd be a splash if you ever got the chance, but hey, when does a real loser win....right, chump!!!

  • you singing this ...chump?! lol

  • @kungiiii Yes, because you don't have stupid old people in Finland, right? Stop being anti-American like 99% of the people on YouTube (including the Americans).

  • OH what a stupid cunt she is " my son bought his new ball with his money , he worked hard for" yeah right , he probally worls at a burger hut and spits in ppls burgers and sits around texting on his cell phone. this lady said stop playing in her yard dammit and she means it and will keep anything u throw in her yard to prove it! these cops need their badge taken away!

  • @vickeyk ya probably but u dont no if he do bytch

  • Welcome to The Land of The FREE!

    Free Ball,that`s it!

  • What is realy horriable is not being able to commuicate and haveig to call the police for something so petty, people don't talk anymore. Insted of trying to resolve this matter it is easier to call the police this is how the NWO is getting it's power we are giving it up over something so minor Think about it. They say we can't take care of ourselves and this is just one example of what they mean. how sad:( Spirit Loves Truth=Peace

    Wen-

  • amen brother!!

100% true, thats the most real comment ive seen in awhile, my friend.

  • I completely disagree with you, steelreserve. I think you're sorry ass clearly wanted the attention. I'm 89 years old and when I do things like that it's not because Im senile, but because I'm lonely and all I want to do is play

  • It's sad when a person (old or young) has nothing better to do with their lives then steal balls from kids. To lower yourself to that level is pathetic and immature. When you get older your supposed to have learned something about life and hopefully have gained some perspective on such petty things as a child's football landing on your grass. Unless this women is clinically senile there is no reason for people to be feeling bad for her. Her sorry ass clearly wanted the attention.

  • shut up, kelly tanis, you ugly ruthless cunt!! how dare you put that sweet old lady behind bars? go play in a park or a train yard!!

  • wow that's mest up!

  • She didn't take anything the ball was thrown into her yard it was on her property that freaking neighbor needs to get her kids under controll and consider getting herself fixed because she apparently can't handle the kids she already has so she shouldn't have anymore even if it does give her a bigger welfare check.

Stop popping out kids Kelly get the ones you have under controll and get a freaking job instead of living of the tax payers

  • I cant believe this!!!!! OMG

  • OMG, is this what our tax payers dollars are wasted on; elderly ladys taking balls? What has our country come to. This would have NEVER happened 30 years ago. It seems like if she took other balls in the past they'd stop throwing them in her yard, DUH!

  • I will let dat old bitch keep my ballzz fuck her i know everybody had a old bitch like dat in they hood like i said FUCK HER!!!!

  • First off english. Second off quit being a cunt on youtube and acting tough. YOU would press charges on an 89 year old woman. WHAT! What a dumbass nigger! what has your mom taught you my mom and my dad taught me to respect elders. But who knows niggers know a days have babys at 17 years old and just give their baby up so its someone elses problem or go on welfare. Please stop breathing it would help this world. Please go back to school your grammar is on a fourth grade level. BYE NIG!

  • According to media reports, the neighbors have come forward and stated that the teenage boys have been hurling footballs, softballs etc. into this elderly ladies yard repeatedly for the last five years. What genius out there doesn't get that the parents of those teens should have made them take the football practice to the park or schoolyard where it belongs.

  • Proof? Seriously you say according to the media reports, yet you didn't give me any links when I sent you the private message.

Send me the link to these media reports or shut your lying.

  • Why can't these kids just go to the park and learn how to catch a ball? That's pitiful!

I like this sarcastic spunky old lady. lol

  • Every media report on this incident clearly states that the teenage boys have REPEATEDLY been hurling balls in her direction and into her property. Neighbors have stated it has been going on for over five years. Clearly this was NO ACCIDENT but a matter of HARASSMENT. I have teenagers and I would NEVER enable them to harass an elderly person like that when it could easily have been resolved by the teen boys playing football or softball at the local park.

  • Nonsense idiot. Every media reports that this has happened before, for 5 years. It is not up to YOU to suddenly decide "clearly it was harassment" because for one thing: It is never suggested to be harassment, it is never suggested the children did this on purpose, and if it was harassment the police would have taken the children (or their parents) down to the police station, not the old lady.

The most the kids are guilty of is failing to learn how to catch and throw. That's not a crime.

  • I listened to a local talk radio show about this the other day. Twelve people called in who grew up near this old bag and said she's been a crabby ass, first-rate pain in the ass in the neighborhood for 40 years.

The cops didn't take her to the station to "interrogate" her, she refused to sign the summons to court. THATS why they had to take her to the station.

She sounds like a real asswipe. She stole the ball, refused to give it back(theft), refused to sign summons, screw her. No symathy

  • Yup, she refused to sign a citation.

  • You claim that this just happened on this occasion. But other neighbors have come forward and told the new media that those teenage boys have been hurling balls in this elderly lady's yard for "the last five years.

Like I said, one or twice is an accident but for the teenagers to be doing this repeatedly for the last five years is obviously no longer an accident.

  • Proof now.

I will send you all of my relavent articles, you send me this proof that the kids have been "hurling" footballs at her for 5 years.

  • Once or twice is an accident. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that teenage boys continuing to hurl footballs or softballs in the same direction when the yards are so close together for over five years is NOT an accident. Anyone with half a brain can see at the very least it is reckless disregard and more likely deliberate harassment.

  • Nonsense, I can send you an article that says:

"[Police Capt. James Schaffer] said Jester wasn't a troublemaker, but that police had been to the neighborhood several times to try to mediate similar disputes."

Had the kids been the ones commiting illegal acts, the police would have taken THEM away, not the lady (who, you keep forgetting, the one who broke the damn law in the first place, and who asked the police to be involved in the first place too)

You must be dense to not get this.

  • How do you know that the teenage boys did not do it on purpose? Hello, these teenagers have been doing this for FIVE YEARS. You mean to say after FIVE YEARS of the various footballs and softballs going into her yard that they thought if they hurl a ffotbal in her direction that it would magically land somewhere else?

  • Why do you, even though you have NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR POSITION, think that the kids did this on PURPOSE?

It was a damn accident. NOWHERE AT ALL is it even said, hinted at, or implied or suggested that the kids did this on purpose.

Stop attempting to shift the blame to the kids, who AT BEST are only guilty of being crappy catchers and throwers. That, however, is not a crime.

What the lady did, however, IS a crime. It is called theft.

  • My point is that just like those parents of that football player would not like anyone hitting golf balls in the direction of them or their house, the elderly lady did not want the teenage boys hurling footballs in her direction.

  • Wrong.

In your example, you were PURPOSEFULLY throwing golf balls at their law. That is VANDALISM.

In this example, the kids had an accident and the ball landed in her yard. SHould the kids have been more careful? Sure. But they were at NO POINT even HINTED at throwing the ball there. The problem here, which you continously fail to see, is that the lady commited a crime, and refused the requests of the police (on 3 SEPERATE accounts) to return the ball, even though she knew it was theft.

  • How is someone practicing golf in front or to the side of the teenager's house any different than those teenage boys praticing football in front or to the side of the elderly ladies house?

  • Because in your example, you would be hitting the golf balls there on purpose, which would count as vandalism. The kids on the other hand, accidentally landed the ball on her yard.

    Big difference.

  • So according to your logic, I could move on that block and start hitting my golf balls with my driver in front of their house for five years and heck, well they're just little golf ball so everyone should just get out of the way of my golf balls and then go fetch them for me whenever I want them back? You just don't get it. It hurts to get hit with a football or a golfball for that matter. Her yard is not a football field.

  • Nope, that would be vandalism and would be illegal. Please, at least look up law terms before you start saying stupid shit like you just did.

  • Also, it is NOT according to MY logic, it is according to the damn Ohio state law.

Also, look up : Ohio Revised Code» TITLE [29] XXIX CRIMES -- PROCEDURE» CHAPTER 2909: ARSON AND RELATED OFFENSES: 2909.05 Vandalism. Research that first, and you will notice that your example is full of shit.

  • Like you said these are very small yards and the houses are very close to one another. That's why teenage boys should not be hurling footballs or softballs across these yards BECAUSE ITS RECKLESS AND SOMEONE MIGHT GET HURT.

  • Please, I have a news article (I can send it to you if you want) where it says the kids where playing in the street, and that SHE asked them to call the cops.

BTW, stop bringing in "What if" What if the old lady had been hit?!?! Well guess what? IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

All that DID happen is she broke the law.

  • So for the last five years, whenever this elderly lady walks out the door of her home she has to dodge footballs, softballs or whatever else these teenage boys throw in her direction and then on top of that she is expected to fetch the balls that land in her yard like she was some kind of dog for them. How many of you would do that for five years and not get pissed.

  • Wrong. It says nothing about the boys throwing the balls at her. Did you not see their front yards? They are tiny, it is easy to see how you could accidently land a ball on her yard.

Also, no she doesn't have to pick up the balls for them. It is the childs property, and all the kid has to do is state his intention of getting his property from her lawn. She can either get it herself, or let the kids do it. If she doesn't give it back, it is theft.

I've already pointed this out to you before

  • We're not talking about little toddlers playing with a baby ball. We're talking about teenage boys throwing footballs as hard as they can. If that little 89 yr old woman were to get hit with that football, it could cause some serious damage. The parents who called the cops should grow up and act like adults. They should use some common sense and tell their gang to take the football game to the park where it belongs.

  • No one was hit with the football, and it is mentioned NOWHERE that they have ever hit her, stop bringing in useless "What ifs"

You continue to add in things that never happened. Why? Why do you defend the lady so much? She broke the damn law, end of story.

  • So how about we agree to disagree. All I've done is make my point; you seem intent on converting my opinion. Personally, I couldn't care less for the old lady. I just hold land ownership as sacred. Now I'll change the subject since you seem intent upon annoying me. Which Star Wars movie is your favorite? Mine is probably Return of the Jedi. It's a toss up between that and A New Hope. I hope George Lucas makes another set of three but it seems doubtful.

  • Fine, I'll disagree with your incorrect legal opinion. Private property must also be respected, which she failed to do.

The Empire Strikes Back. I hate the Rebellion :)

  • I think I saw The Empire Strikes back when I was too young because it freaked me out how it ended. I was lucky that Return of the Jedi was out, since it alleviated my anxieties, particular those concerning Han Solo, which is probably why I like it so much. And I agree that the law is the law, and in that respect the woman was wrong. I imagine she would have given it back had the kids apologized: if they did and she didn't, I would side with the kids.

  • They probably did apologize. Again, I have no reason why so many people are assuming the kids are misfits who threw the ball at her on purpose and who called the cops in an elaborate set up. The ball landed there by accident, the kids asked for it back (probably various times, you don't call the cops immediately) and she still refused. Either way, she is old enough to know how the law works, she broke it. Boo-hoo.

Oh, you mean the carbonite freezing? Yeah, that was pretty tense as a kid.

  • If they apologized, she should have given it back. That's how it was when I was kid. The hard part was drawing our tails up between our legs and knocking on the person's door. But we always got the ball back after making amends. I agree, she pushed it too far by refusing to sign the citation. Signing it doesn't admit guilt, and she could have fought it in court.

The carbonite freezing, indeed. The movie just ended like that. I was shocked. I guess I saw too many Hollywood endings. :)

  • Why do you assume they didn't apologize? Besides, if she didn't give it back for the cops, why do you think she would have given it back for a bunch of kids?

Anyways yeah, TESB has the best ending, as it ends on a sad note, with the heroes and the Rebellion seemingly defeated. On the other hand, ROTJ ends TOO happy. A rebel group just destabliized a galactic government. Think of the crisis that no doubt follows (read the EU for that). All the dead on the Death Star. Yet it's glossed over.

  • If they apologized, that should have been enough for her. What more could she hope for, right? And there's more she could have done beforehand, such as befriending the kids with cookies or something. Maybe they would have steered clear of her then.

You have a point. ROTJ's ending is so happy as to border on sappy. It is glossed over. It's assumed everyone involved with the Empire is bad when I doubt that's the case. Have you ever read any C.L. Moore?

  • It should have, but again, she didn't respect a state police trooper and state law, there is no reason that a few kids saying "sorry" would have made her change her mind if JAILTIME didn't. She broke the law, that is all there is too it.

Yeah, all the people who died on the Death Star can't be evil, most of them just follow orders. Hell, there were civilians on it! I hate the Rebellion, bunch of criminals those guys.

No, I've never heard of that author, what has he written?

  • Actually C.L. Moore was a woman. She wrote a lot of great sci-fi and is one of the few woman who wrote it really well (not a sexist statement, just not many woman write sci-fi). Shambleau and Others is a good collection of her short stories. Her husband also thought she was a man due to her name until her response to his fan letter; funny that they ended up married. She was one of the first to make sci-fi character verses technology-driven, a ball, no pun intended, that Ray Bradbury ran with.

  • Nice! She responds to his fan letter and they get married. Must be a happy fan :)

Anyways, most sci-fi is sadly more about "look at the cool guns and ships and tech!" rather than about interesting characters.

  • So true. I love the technology in sci-fi, but it loses resonance without good characters. Star Wars works because of the characters; their motivations and desires are believable. That they're in space is incidental. John W. Campbell was another great character-driven sci-fi writer. He wrote Who Goes There, which was made in the John Carpenter film The Thing.

  • Thank you avoiceofreason2, you make a very solid point. I see this as an issue of respect and clearly this woman's property was not respected, especially since it's an ongoing problem. I faced similar situations in my neighborhood, so we didn't let our balls land in the yards of those we knew wouldn't approve. And as a result, I've grown up not to respect just the old, but any property owners in hopes that my property too will be respected. Anyone who doesn't see the woman's point is dense.

  • Holy shit...

Let's look at this. The children are guilty of:

    Failing to catch the ball.

The old lady is guilty of:

Refusing to respect the kids property (the ball)

Refusing to respect their requests to return them

Refusing to respect the police officers request to return the ball

Refusing to respect the citation she was issued

Refusing to respect the law of her state

Anyone who sides with the old lady is either biased, guilty of doing similar crimes, or dense on purpose.

  • This is an elderly lady with diabetes and high blood pressure who's one pleasure in life is to sit on her front porch without getting hit with a football from the teenager next door. You think the parents of that teen could have enough decency or common sense to tell that healthly young man to walk down the block to the park to play football? No they rather encourage him to continue to harass an elderly lady in poor health. I hope he treats his parents the same way when they get old.

  • Oh please, stop making shit up.

At no point in the story AT ALL, is it mentioned that the ball hit her, or that the kids were harassing her, or that she has diabetes of high blood pressure. Your attempts to pain the children as evil misfits are quite plain, and you are all ignoring the fact that she broke the law, refused to listen to a police officer and refused to sign the citation that was given to her.

She was uncooperative, broke the law and showed extreme disrespect for the law.

  • I think the lady who called the police is a stuck up, snotty bitch and that poor old lady had every right to take the ball for it going into her yard. Kids these days have no respect for the elderly or for anyone else for that matter! What about the law where if someone is on your property you can shoot them! So what, she took a ball to teach them a lesson, leave her alone! Thats horrible that she was arrested, can you imagine how she feels about that?

  • She commited a crime. The ball was private property, and according to the Ohio Revised Code, it is illegal to keep someone elses property from them. It is theft.

  • RojOdio Maybe when your real old someone will bust your head for you. With a FOOTBALL.. get it? Or maye a bowling ball and say sorry.

  • Nowhere in the story does it say the football hit her. Stop making shit up.

  • Does anyone else remember that old people keeping the various objects kids throw in their yards as like a long-held American tradition? It's been going on for ages and suddenly it's a police matter? The movie Monster House relies on it as a plot point. I can't believe the police ticketed and arrested the woman. She should have let the ball sit and as soon as a kid stepped foot in her lawn to get it reported them as trespassers. I wonder if the cops would have ticketed the kids.

  • Suddenly? It's been law that such actions are considered theft for quite a while now.

Ok dude, you keep saying the children were trespassers and she should have cited them as such. So I'm calling your bluff on this. Point out to me, at exactly what time in this video does it says that the children were trespassing or even on her property. Point out to me when the children are labeled as "brats" or spoiled. Point out to how the children were in the wrong or how they did anything illegal

  • live radio WLW tried to make the mother and her kid's to be angels but mother admitted it's been going on more than 5years.And there's a park within half a mile to play .Wow a 10 min walk. That family has no respect for older people Or The radio host announcer Just after 10:00PM of WLW made her to sound like and old bitch. These People are rude.

  • Yeah, apparently the old lady had been stealing their balls prior to this final one.

Is the park safe? What are the crime rates in the area? You know some parents simply don't want their children to be far away you know, the kids were underage, so I'm assuming they are still young.

She is old. Who cares? I don't know when this "respect the elderly" thing became a "Let the elderly commit crimes with no consequences" mentallity many of you are exhibiting.

  • RojOdio O and yes their father was throwing the ball with them.Get the story straight ,He could have walk to a park 10 min away but their to damn lazy.

  • So what if the dad was throwing the ball with them, how does that, in any way change the story or change the fact that she broke the law?

  • Clearly you have no understanding of American culture. Old people have been taking balls and Frisbees and kite from kids for decades. It's a way of teaching respect. I bet you were the kid that told on the bully instead of being a man and standing up for yourself. Someday the law won't be able to protect you and you'll be screwed.

  • I frankly have no respect for law breakers. If this is a part of American culture (heres a hint, I was fucking BORN in Californa and I've lived here all 18 years of my life)

If thats part of American culture, I can see now why crime is so fucking high here. Idiots like you think being old gives you a damn free pass to break the law on your own whim.

No one is above the law, no one. I am glad to see that justice is blind. The old lady COMMITED A DAMN CRIME. She faces the consequences.

  • You must be a glutton for punishment, since you seem to only be here to piss people off so you can get attention. You've lived in America all your life so you should know that majority rules. When it comes down to it, more people side with the old lady. I doubt anything will happen to her because the people prosecuting her are elected officials and will side with the majority, so really the point is moot. If you respond to me again I will take it as a sign that you're a lonely, pitiable person.

  • I don't care that more of you idiots sided with the lady. The law sides with the kids.

I like how you added this:

"If you respond to me again I will take it as a sign that you're a lonely, pitiable person."

It betrays the fact that you have no damn argument to stand on. The law is on the kids side, the law is on the side of the police.

She broke Ohio Revised Code: Title 29 Crimes -Procedure: Ch. 2913 Theft and Fraud: Article 02: Theft.

Look it up. She broke the law, she was wrong.

  • Now you're impeding on my right to have my own opinion. I've already explained that to me the law is subjective. Yeah, the law is the law. I agree. But there are instances, in my mind, that the law is wrong. Right in the video the woman says she was eventually going to return the ball. She was trying to teach these kids a lesson they clearly won't otherwise learn. I guess your the type who would hang peasants for stealing bread to feed their starving children.

  • Your' opinion is irrelevant. The law is there for all to see. She broke the law.

She said she was going to return it. Fine. She should have done so WHEN the kids asked for it back. She should have done so when the COPS asked for it back. She should have done it when the cops gave her a WARNING that she would be charged with theft. She should have done it when she was given a CITATION.

The old lady failed to do so on all accounts. Hundreds of theives say "I was going to return it!" everyday

  • What don't you get. She did not give the children permission to enter her property, therefore they could not have legally recovered their ball. It was their fault the ball entered her property. To retrieve it, they would need to break the law. She should have let them. I doubt you'll ever get old. You seem to piss people off. I hope when you piss off the wrong person and they kill you, a legal technicality sets them free.

  • Where on the goddamn video does it EVER say the children set foot on her property?

And no, you clearly don't know how the fuck the damn law works in teh first place. If the kids ball lands on her property, he has the RIGHT to retreive it. If she does not allow him to (as she did) it is THEFT. Simple as that.

Your stupid wish of death upon me is irrelevant and reeks of desperation.

  • We cannot afford to keep rapist and murderers locked up BUT we can afford to lock up an 89 yr old for keeping a football of a spoiled teen next door who is too lazy to go the local park to play football. Instead of teaching her brat to be respectful of other people's property and go to the park, the mother of that teeange brat calls the cops on the elderly neighbor. Shame on that brat's mother and on a society that arrests an 89 yr old for simply wanting to live in peace in her own home.

  • She broke the law.

A funny thing I am noticing in all of these comments is that you are all automatically assuming the fault is on the children and on the kids. Nevermind the fact that the old hag stole the ball and previous ones first, that she was the one that told her parents to call the police, refused to sign a police citation etc etc.

No, its all the law abiding moms fault.

  • What is your evidence that the kid is a brat?

    Why are you assuming this?

  • this bitch is pussy why would you call the cops over a FUKKEN FOOTBALL i could see if it was something serious like murder this lady is old enough to be her mother show some damn respect heh stupid zoids

  • She should be arrested. And if people can't live with occasional balls in their yards, they shouldn't live in residential neighborhoods.

  • Parents should teach children to respect their elders - it's wrong to annoy an elderly person. It sounds like Edna just wanted to teach them to stop kicking the ball into her house by keeping it a few days - she said she was planning to give it back. The parents should have taken the opportunity to teach their children a valuable lesson about respect & tolerance. They would have grown up to be better people for it. How will future youth be treating THEM when they are her age?! Sad.

  • Right because no one who is charged with theft says they were just "holding it for a while."

The parents did the right thing, they saw an old lady disrespecting the law, and called her on it. The police did the right thing, the gave her warnings and chances to return the ball, told her she would be charged with theft if she didn't.

    Guess what?

She didn't return the ball, hence she was charged with theft.

The children will grow up knowing no one is above the law and not to break it.

  • It's wrong to annoy an elderly person?

Its wrong to break the damn law!

What is so hard for you to understand about this?

Also, the kids weren't kicking the ball into her yard on purpose, it was an accident. Did you see their damn yard? It's almost no bigger than a sandbox for toddlers. YOu want to charge the kid for missing to catch the damn ball? Should we haul away the parents for not teaching their kids proper passing skills?

An accident which the lady turned into a crime.

  • You should be a lawyer. You lack all humanity. Let me ask you this: should illegal aliens be arrested and detained for entering America?

  • No, the immigration laws need to be reworked.

  • Right, I lack all humanity because I agree with the law and want the old lady who broke the law to face the consequences. Right.

I hate old ladies, yeah I must be a mustache twirling evil man with no humanity.

Actually, I withdraw my first answer to this question. I do not know if they should be kicked out or no. My parents came here legally, I see no reason why others can't do so either. I would need to see more info on the matter to make a decision though.

  • The football isn't the problem. Apparently, these kids have been getting in this lady's face and arguing with her many times before this.

The parents do nothing to remedy the situation.

And... the 89 year old lady should just learn to let things go. I agree with you that she broke the law and refused to make things right.

I'm not siding with anyone on this. I think it's completely pathetic that this is on national news, let alone local news. Stubborness + ignorance = 5 o'clock news.

  • Not even, its mentioned that Jester, the old lady, has taken balls from her kids before. She's STOLEN from them before.

The parents finally did the right thing and called the cops on the lady.

Yes, the 89 yeard old lady has had 71 years to learn the law, she should have known she was breaking it and should have taken her many chances to remedy the situation without bringing the cops in.

I'm with the cops. You break the law, you face consequences. Old or not.

  • By 71 years I mean, she has been of age to be tried as an adult for 71 years.

  • It must be a slow news day. Inconsiderate kids, irresponsible parents, intolerant senior citizens, no ONE party is to blame here. They are ALL part of the problem.

  • What are you talking about? Inconsiderate kids? What, they are inconsiderate because one of them couldn't catch the damn ball?

Irresponsible parents? What did they do wrong?

Intolerant senior citizen is the only part you got right. She broke the law, simple as that.

  • Wow, so she's an old lady, I guess to most peopel that means she deserves a free pass?

The ball (private property) landed on her lawn. The kid asked her to give it back. She said no. At that point it is stealing.

She said "call the cops if you want" so they did. The cops didn't want to make an issue of this and simply asked her to give the ball back. She refused again. They gave her a citation, which she refused to sign. At that point, they took her to jail for breaking the law. She stole.

  • If i were the cop i would have told the parents to take the old lady to court, let them recoup their money that way, but arresting an 89 year old woman, unconscionable. Shame on those cops, hopefully the Judge will have more common sense and dismiss the charges and have kids family take through the small claims court, NOT CRIMINAL COURT, Shame on the cops and shame on the family for calling the cops.

  • The old lady broke the law. It would be unconscionable to let her go, even after she broke the law after being given several chances to resolve the situation with no consequences.

  • Good job boys, you've just arrested someone on the FBI's most wanted, I feel safer already!!!!

  • just give the fuckin ball back. you know your just watching tv all day anyway.

  • Not the point. The buy is a jackass.

  • This is complete stupidity. This is my nanny's grandmother. No lie. What is this country coming to?

  • She stole the private property and refused to give it back, she ignored a request and then an order from a police officer. She broke the law.

She's old, so what? All that means is that she should have been smarter and listend to the cops and been reasonable (how hard is it to give the damn ball back anyway?)

  • Uh, those kids going in her lawn is trespassing. She could have pressed charges against them. I hope you get old and people treat you like shit.

  • The kids weren't trespassing.

  • Going on someone's lawn without permission is trespassing. In Texas she could have shot them and likely gotten away with it. You must be a kid. Only a kid would be such a moron. Maybe you should reassess this thing when you gain a little wisdom ... beyond that gained from lame movies.

  • At no point in any of the articles I have seen are the children ever reported as going on the lawn without her permission.

You must have not looked up Ohio law, which is very clear on the matter. You must also not know that refusing to sign a citation is enough grounds to be sent to jail.

She refused to give the ball back, even after she was asked various times, she refused to sign a citation.

She broke the law, end of story.
