  • I don't want a bookcase called Billy or a table called Sven.

  • @BowserTheSecond Why? Billy is a fantastic bookcase.

  • @Faltaz It's a ten mile walk just to get to the shelves.

  • Ahhh!! I'm so in love with the High Kings!♥ Namely Finbarr. Each of them are so charming.

  • County Antrim, Northern Ireland, in the 1720's...I may be descended from the so-called "orange" Irish, but by heaven, I'm still Irish!

  • What a voices! What a voices!

  • I was talking to a friend and asked him why he didn't have a girlfriend, he told me to listen to this and I would know, I was totally laughing, but he's amazing and he will sure find a girlfriend :p

  • English, irish and scottish blood runs through my veins, just need to marry a welsh girl then my children will be truely british hahaha!

  • I'm Scottish, English, Italian, Dutch, French, Spanish, German, American, Canadian, AND Irish.

Am I technically still permitted to say "proud to be Irish" or does me being English not allow that?... e__e

  • @ShymoonofCloudclan Yes. The French and Spanish were originally celtic peoples. Not to speak of Northern Italy. . .

  • @ARP7777777 oh ok. Whoooh!

  • @ShymoonofCloudclan no your not allowed cause u can't be taking all the all those countries....

  • these guys remind me of four hobbits

  • @Blakter19 It's kinda funny you mention that. Was reading a page and it mentioned a parody of this song about a dwarf woman trying to get an elf lover and got tired of him wooing but not doing anything.

  • you know, I'm half Puerto Rican, and I still don't know why I like this music. Who knew!

  • I love this song! :D

  • Cheers from Canada!

  • I'm Belgian, Scottish, Canadien, French. But my heart is there in Ireland aswell. In all the movies i see about Ireland and England, Ireland is the bad guy, but they are MUCH BETTER THAN England!!!!

  • @TaimenVerbeke Well, Belgium and France were Celtic, in the days of Julius Ceasar

  • I'm brazilian and I think I left my heart in Ireland! I can't wait to come back!!

  • @marinatb08 Im part Irish, Scottish and German. I am in Ireland heart, soul, and mind.

  • @marinatb08 I'm part Irish, Scottish and German. I am in Ireland heart, soul, and mind.

  • @rockerinssocks Not amusing anymore.

    Try using your own material.

  • very very nice !!! thanks!

  • this is the best verson of this song i ave heard

i love irish music and im from ireland so u would think i would be sick of it

  • @adamgaa you can never get sick of it...

  • These guys are cool!, I began to fell in love with Irish folk songs already.

  • @theblueshell I have their album. As well as the Dubliners albums. I see nothing pop about anything there singing here. And it's a shame you think that since 3 of them are all sons of known famous Irish folk singers. If you don't like it you don't like it. But don't trash it and say they have no worth. Show a little respect.

  • not fit to lace the dubliners boots, this is a pop version of Irish music,

  • @theblueshell How is it a pop version?

If it were a pop version, they'd all be using electronic instruments and not even use the right lyrics, dipshit.

If you're going to complain about something then complain about something realistic and that makes sense.

  • @unionofonion Yo smartass, you know what he means surely?? In case ya dont, ill spell it out for you: The HKs are an overdone, boyband style, faux-Irish group of pretenders who really get up a lot of peoples nostrils with their at times hilariously commercialised brand of "Irish" music, simple as

  • @tony10396861 Why dont you messege me on your own account instead of hiding behind another like a cunt.

  • @unionofonion What?? This is my one and only account dipshit!! Do you think im someone you know?

  • @tony10396861 yo fuck head ever hear of the clancy brothers and tommy makem it was largly because of them that irish music is here in the us not only that Finbarr Clancy is of irish back ground

  • @TheEarthwitch Are you serious? Of Irish background?? He IS Irish ya dope!! And what do Finbarrs uncles have to do with whether the High Kings are any good or not? Not a huge fan of the original Clancy brothers and Makem anyway, they were overly stagey and very much directed at an American audience. When Tommy and Liam started doing their own thing they were far better. If the High Kings are the kind of "Irish" music you like in the US youre welcome to them

  • @tony10396861 it was because of them that irish music is in the us today and they sound better then some of the other groups i have heard sing they don't sound like they lost there best friend and there dog all in one day.there better then celtic thunder who by the way sing to many american songs as is so yeah i would rather have the clancy brothers and the high king on my cd player any day

  • @TheEarthwitch Dont get what you mean by "losing their best friend and dog all in one day"? And who said anything about Celtic Thunder? Cos I certainly didnt

  • @tony10396861 what that means is they sound sad even for song that have an up beat and celtic thunder is the only other choice

  • @TheEarthwitch Yeah thats true, but I didnt say I like Celtic thunder (I dont, at all). But theres loads of other choices in terms of Irish folk groups; the original dubliners(ie. with Luke Kelly), Planxty, and of course the Clancys themselves, who are far more authentic than the High Kings, and in my opinion far better. (sorry this is rambly, im a bit drunk) :)

  • @tony10396861 i'm not a fan of the dubliners i just can't get into them and finding a clancy cd here in the us is like a no go all i can find is clancy and makem and the high kings is better then nothing trust me..since i don't like to many kinds of music

  • @TheEarthwitch Not a big fan of the modern Dubliners, not the same group at all as in the 60s and 70s. That original group were the best folk group ever though, by a country mile in my opinion.

  • @tony10396861 there is a lot of original irish folk music from the 60's and 70's that i like and i was born in 86 but since alot of them have died off it makes it hard to find any of there music witch sucks

  • Unfathomable that there could be 7 BREATHING people who dislike this song. I'm going to go weep for those people now.

  • Seven people have never been a wild rover!

  • This music fills me up with so much joy. I walk to my classes with a spring in my step and a huge smile on my face. I bet everyone wonders why! It's songs like this. :)

  • love it love ya

  • Love it.

  • I like this song in your voices!!! Greattings from Spain (Irish are really rovers, in all the world we know their music!!!)

  • Great artists for a great song... greetings from an Italian fan...

  • i remember seeing them as an opening act for Celtic Women when they were brand new. i liked them better than the actual concert

  • Like it!

    I love Ireland =)

  • Thank you youtube for introducing me to such epic musical glory

  • Super band.

  • greetings from germany and sorry to germany that some clownish folks over here calling themselves artists stole the melody of this song to make a carnival hit out of it *lol* - it's still one of my favorites - whether in Irish or in German ^^

  • @Penobscot5 I am both and ant it a great mix I love both lands and the song

  • @Penobscot5 An der Noooordseeeeeküsteee!^^

  • i am 12 and i love the high kings they are top they are 1 out of 6010

  • Fantastic harmonys

  • excellent

  • slainte!!

  • I love this band, because they do justice to the songs they sing. I love them!

  • I never knew the baldy fella was Finbar Furey's son.

  • I love this song!

  • i feel running or killing someone when i hear this song LOL

  • Oh, man these guys are so awesomely good. Hey, what are their names, any way.

I've heard all their songs so many times over. X} *clap clap clap clap*!

  • Nice harmonies, but the guy pretending to play the banjo isn't fooling anyone but himself.

  • @PadsterDood

He IS playing it...just at infrequent times, and only for background. It still matters.

  • @andrewames247

Sorry andrewames247, maybe I should have said that "He's only fooling himself and andrewames247", what on earth is that chord he's "supposed" to be playing, he's gripping that banjo neck as if it was piece of 3 by 2. He'll never be a Tommy Makem or Luke Kelly. (but I suppose he must know that).

  • Love it...

  • Ah they are class

  • Awesome!

  • Excellent performance, beautiful song.

  • sweet take.

  • Oh for all you who obviously dont know Irish music....its THE WILD ROVER AND HAS BEEN FOR 100 FISHIN YEARS :-(

  • This lot are like a weak willied watered down version of the fureys....once more commercial crap!!

  • god i wish i was irish. and it's no, nay, never, no nay never, no more!

  • Senator Palpatine at 3:10 hahaha

  • who is he?

  • Brings back fond memories of paychecks wasted in Muldoon's Saloon! Thanks for sharing! :)

  • no nay never no more........love the song it's simply awsome

  • good job ,, Kings , WE WERE USED TO THE IRISH ROVERS DOING THIS ONE , BUT YOU ARE FINE !!! You are bringing up the fore !!! :))))

  • No. it's the Wild rover.

  • No, it's "no, nae, never".

  • But the song is called The Wild Rover.

  • @aniri1234567 It really isn't. It's "no, nay, never." Nay, as in not.

  • wow. no it's not man.

  • Probably the best version ive heard of this song. brilliant! :)

  • I agree: the best one I've heard ... That it's live is awesome .

  • everyone get their new album memory lane its very good a new version of wild rover is on it its excellent.

  • Such handsome men.

  • We do this song in choir it's SOOOO MUCH FUN!

  • Wow, a little to "clean" sounding but a great version of one of my favorite [ub songs. Any of there other stuff worth a listen to?

  • this isnt the 1720s bro....

  • WTH, what planet do you live on where that is considered half naked? Oh no, she is showing her shoulders, HOW DARE SHE!!!

  • half naked? u can see her arms! omg..noooooooo!!!!!!!!

  • Insane!

  • I saw Darren was in the papers every day a few weeks ago. He was doing some charity mountain climb in Peru with Boyzone. He seems to be the only one from The High Kings in the papers.

  • I see Westlife are singin ballads now

  • there version of rocky road to dublin is better thank clancy brothers, (sacrilege I know), but I miss the sound of liam clancy in wild rover, this one just doesnt do it

  • I just discovert them now, but they are next to "The Dubliners" and "Cherish the Ladies" now on my personal favorite list of Irish Folk Groups ...even if I have to admit that this version of "Wild Rover" is a bit boring as it is sung neither rousing nor touching *snore*

But as much as I have seen of their other Songs they have an interessant style of performing :-)

  • Brian, Martin, Finbar and Darren. He is more well known than the others but they make a great group.

  • great band, great songs and harmonies!!! can anyone tell me the names of each memeber? ive heard darren? who is who?

  • look at the audience they are absolutly crazy :)

  • I seems so fake to me, too perfect, over done. Technically its great, but doesnt have any heart to it. When Luke Kelly sings it, its as if he wrote it 5 minutes before.

  • young crap like you always thinks that when music is well-played there's no heart! ludicrous

  • LOL! Loser.

  • yes!

  • Darren ooozes sex.

  • you mean this isn't what celtic music sounds like? oh goodness my oh me, my american ears are forever broken now that i've heard "phoney" irish music. no amount of money these guys have made could make me not wanna put my foot in your ass as bad as i want to right now. go kiss the queen you ass pirate!

  • who is saying that this isn't celtic music.?

  • simply fantastic !

  • Although some people might want to kick me in the balls for saying this, I think they are quite boring. Yes, they can sing and they've got very complex harmonies and stuff. But I really prefer the "dirty" sound of the Dubliners and the Pogues. There's a lot more raw energy, anger and a sort of amateurishness in MacGowan's performances, which makes them the most brilliant at all.

  • i agree totaly theseguys can sing great ut are boring i would have to add Dropkick Murphys to the list of bands that play tradinational irish music in the same gritty vein asthe Duliners and the Pouges . igrew up listening to Irish music on am in Boston

  • One of my favourites ! Brilliant-5***** Thanks for sharing . Keep Smiling

  • i miss brian so mch :(

  • i prefer the TYR version but this one is really good too but differently

  • one of the greatest versions ever!!

  • I wish they came to Canada - they're absolutely fabulous, my Da would love them.

  • and its no nay never!!!! this is such a killer song love THK

  • I love this song.

I also love the high kings.

    To bad my friends dont.

  • screw 'em! listen to the high kings anyway!

  • Haha I know.

I guess they find it weird.

Well then again I am from California.

  • well, i'm from texas, haha

  • Your friends dont say anything since you like this?

  • do these guys come round the states? cause that would be a wonderful time to go see a high kings show

  • yes i know they were in florida last fall because i went to see them :-)!!! there show was AMAZING. all the kings were so nice and funny throughout the whole thing and their voices were perfect even life. i don't know when they'll be in the states next though...

  • I heard their lp last November on Aer Lingus coming back from a trip of EIRE ,I had to buy this lp,to hell with a free or pay download,I wanted the real thing, everybody who has heard this lp loves it

  • my party song. fuckin brilliant :D

  • lovely...

  • fantastic song :)

  • Nollaig Casey on the fiddle.

  • if u dont like it dont waych the vid or comment

  • amazing harmony. i cant wait til i get to go back to dublin

  • well done

  • Too polished! But the harmony is nicely done.

  • Just great I love it. Good singers.

    Jo Sparkes

    Norfolk

    8/11/08

  • I do like them, they harmonize really well and theyre cute.

  • Absolutely right, very good.

    Take care

    Jo S

  • absouluty the best song !!!! i wished they tour the United ststes more often

  • great!!

  • his aceent annoys me!

  • this song is like amazing! i love it!!

i cannot stop lostening to it!! lol

  • I saw these guys when they opened for Celtic Woman in Seattle, WA. It was funny because at

first the crowd didnt clap right. But when they started the song we got it,lol.

  • i love celtic music lol

  • Are you sure this was their first ever concert? When I watched this a few months ago on PBS in the US, I thought it was mentioned that this was not the first one.

  • Nice to hear the old songs played in a modern way with less traditional instruments

  • Accordion, Bouzouki, Fiddle, Guitar, Bodhrán ? whats not traditional? Sure theres a double bas and a kit but thats not less trad instruments lol

  • I am wondering if the people giving me thumbs down really know who Luke Kelly was. If they don't, and consider this shite to be Irish music, then we are in trouble.

  • Hey it may not be traditional dont get me wrong i love the clancy's and dubliners but if this revives irish music hey im happy

  • A -6 rating means one of two things: first, that 6 tossers believe Luke would approve of this shite, or second, they have no idea who Luke was.

    What do you think?

  • Why would you say that, sure this may not be an totally traditional rendition of the tune but these guys are talented singers, who are trying to revive Irish music back into the mainstream. I think it's awesome that more groups are doing irish music again and that there seems to be a renewed interest in it. I myself think that that would make ole Luke quite happy.

  • Well said Evan

  • Thank you.

  • absolutely. I think this is their best song actually.

  • I prefer Paddy's Green Shamrock Shores.... that's one of the most beautiful things I've EVER heard.

I love these voices. And what can you say about the drummer but that he's completely epic?
