  • Idiot..

  • can you imagine the NOISE that this lovely creature makes? SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!

  • lookes liek dis bugg is in myy room

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • I don't think hitting it and shaking it up and down is the best way to educate people about it's abilities. It is just a bug, but I am actually flagging this as animal abuse..

  • What type?(I cant tell cause the lighting)

  • Ive seen one that was 30 cm long and now...i has it as a pet at my fathers house :D

  • BITE HARD

  • ive seen bigger

  • Man, what a &&&&ing big katykid.

  • Damn, YouTube cut me off. *can.

  • Alright, all of you, lay off. Like others on here have said, he is just attempting to make the katydid produce it's distress call, and it doesn't look like he permanently injured it, so leave the guy alone. And you with the racism problem, you know who you are, learn a little respect for your fellow human beings. Finally, the brain of an insect is much smaller than ours, and the brain-to-body mass ratio is smaller, therefore it is highly unlikely that it can actually feel emotions as humans

  • i saw one of these when i was 7ish in a palm tree. scared the living shit out of me.

  • According to Wikipedia, these can take on snakes and lizards.

  • aquabeetles: what a coolkatydid

werecatomega: HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT THING? KILL IT! KILL IT NOW!

  • aw dont be mean to the giant katydid XP

  • i feel bad for that, it should be out in the wild then being hit by some guy):

  • Hey, quit hitting that Katydid you stupid Jap asshole! Wow , you must be a really brave strong man to be picking on a little insect like that. How would you like it if some giant came along and smacked the shit out of you!? You stupid Japs need to stop killing whales too! I hope some big animal like an elephant or a gorilla comes along and rapes you in the ass until you die you fucking slant-eyed demon!

  • @mrsmileypants13 dude shut up, he poked it to make it produce its cool noise for us to hear.

  • @mrsmileypants13 bla bla bla bla bla bla bla who cares

its a fucking awesome bug and it does a fucking awesome noise

  • burn it

  • damn that fucker is huge!

  • I like how he gets it out super gently then ends up hitting it later.

  • wow up close that is grossssss

  • Your insect videos are cool but you're kind of mean to them. I was hoping it would bite you. You wouldn't see David Attenborough smacking nature around like that. Be nicer to them...

  • Yeah, so when you're walking I expect you not to step on any bugs whatsoever. If you do, you're a terrible hypocrite.

    QQ.

  • Stepping on that thing must make a very satisfying sounding crunch!

  • anyone knows it's scientific (latin) name ??

  • Oh my god people! He was hitting it to illustrate the loud clicking noise it produces when it feels threatened. Don't spaz out its just a katydid.

  • @belliebum12 It's like half way through he noticed what the fuck he was holding and realized that he didnt want to be holding it. xD

  • abuser!

  • gorgeous

  • why are you hitting it? :(

  • are these dangerous? Because I found alot of these by my friends house once and i just hit it off the tree.... But it was like 1/10 of that size... that was HUGE!

  • okay , first off hell no , i would not be touching the katydid

Second: I hope the guy flicking the katydid gets his finger eaten off

Third: that katydid is HUGE!!!!! o.0 It can eat a village : Fourth: That Katydid was loud!

  • I hope it BITES your head OFF

  • I hope it BITES your HEAD off* though it probably wont

  • theres a katydid outside right now, he's a bit bigger than average but wow, not as big as that one

  • Isn't it a little bit dangerous for the katydid to do this with it's wings?

Things like it's wings, hornes and its jump-legs can break off very easily.

It's probably a better idea to touch it's thorax from above, that part of the body is stronger.

Why being so careful with it? It's a very, very beautifull living creature. A katydid must also have a certain kind of feelings. So let's respect it. :)

  • That really was mean. You should not hit him/her like that. I bet you are hurting it and I am sure you would not want someone to do that to you.

  • I know it katydids have feelings to.

  • God its a bug calm the fuck down, theres millions of them in a world, when theres only 1 or 3 left of these then start getting all pissy

    for now just chill

    damn

    >>

  • they do bite when threatened... i was waiting for it to happen but no... hes just an ass that likes to pester it..

  • o.0

  • that guy who is flicking him

    is a dicksmoke

i hope that thing jumps on his face

  • why flick it fat boy. how would you like us to sit there belting you with a shoe just to see what response we get.

  • Deixa o bicho em paz!

  • that thing is bigger than a gecko!

  • lmao why were u hitting it so hard lmao

  • wtf are you playing at? stop hitting it, you are one cruel twat

  • what the hell are you doing to that thing dont hit it or flick it, dont shake him, and at 1:41 dont squeeze it to make it chirp

  • I agree with Zeldeion. You don't have to strike

at this creature to get what you want it to do.

Like with any animal you train them to do things

on cue. We have katydids here where I live.

The biggest one I saw natural was the size of

    a quarter with legs.

    methodistgirl

  • Stop Fucking hitting it!!!

    Animal abuse to the max!!!

  • lol that was funny when you kept smaking it he kept kicking out it's foot like it was gonna kick your hand

  • That thing would NOT be touching my bare hand, I'm sorry.....creepy crawlies make me shiver.

  • "Oh don't mind me, i'm just being fucking huge"

  • This is a huge insect! I love living creatures :D

  • I have always thought that Katydids are very creepy-looking, but that one is so monstrous that it takes the cake!

  • i would like to have 1 of those ^^

  • Thank you for your comment. But it is not easy to catch this monster. I caught it in Sangklaburi, a boader village of Thailand and Myanmer(Burma)in May 2008.

  • is it dangerous, does it bit you,

and is your subject studying these insects,
