  • How much did this whole build cost you?

  • @501monday Around $2500

  • @501monday Oh.Thought it would of been a lot more than that. I want to do this soon what would be the best bike to do his to?

  • @501monday Get the newest model you can find. Doesn't matter what manufacture. Parts are easier to find..

  • @Johnnysshop Ok I'll try that, thanks for the help man

  • @Johnnysshop About two weeks ago

  • @Dirtkilluh95 Make sure they aren't too tight and then try to add a little more fuel to the carb. If not, try a rejet.

  • @Johnnysshop I got a question,I have a 2006 yz250f and it backfires alot when it's hot.do you know what it could be?your help would be appreciated thanks

  • @Dirtkilluh95 I would check the valve adjustment first and then the jetting. When's the last time the valves were adjusted?

  • awesome video man.

  • @FIowHD Thanks!

  • hey i got a question about my friends 03 cr85. It starts like 3-4 kick. when it warms up a little and he puts the choke down it idles fine then just drops and dies. the bike also bogs soooo bad its like its redline is at 3500 rpm. carb is clean. when its idling on its own the smoke is like constant no pings or anything. It has a fmf powercore 2 slip on. do you think it needs jets and a topend? what do you think? its horrible

  • @Peterrides It could be the reeds, the topend or both. I would check the reeds first, especially if they've never been changed. Could be jetting but I doubt it. Has it always acted like this or just started?

  • Alright ive got a question. I know this is a yz250f but i have a yamaha tt-r 125l and whenever it starts on a cold day itl run for a sec then shut off. and i have to keep doing this untill it finally stays running. Any tips for a rookie?

  • @2008revboy Typically then run a little leaner when it's cold so you may need to re-jet it for the winter. Might want to fatten up the air/mixture screw a bit (counter clockwise) but I'm not sure that will help much.

  • this is a 2002 rite

  • @YamaYz250f 2003.

  • i want a bike im 15 6'6 and 250lbs what should i get?

  • @buggy223 If you're not used to riding I'd get a 250 but most people will tell ya to get a 450. 250 will haul ya around just fine though...

  • @Johnnysshop what about a 125?

  • is it very slippery if you bunk on a wet floor with that bike?

  • @jayr122001 Not really.

  • Johnny, your videos have helped me and many others with all sorts of things. You should now do a two stroke MX bike. Many of us would appreciate that :) (and it won't be as expensive)

  • @MxRider721 I appreciate the feedback. I've been wanting to get one for awhile. Just gotta find the right deal. :) soon I hope!

  • johnny, i got a problem. got an 05 yz250f on a trade. the thing is when i start it, cold. itll start on choke but if i let it warm up and take choke off, itll die straight away. i think idle is too low. i tried adjusting it it up with the circular idle adjuster underneath the carb but it doesnt do anything. barely changes the idle. do you think you know what might be wrong?

  • @itzgangzta The idle adjustment screw should make a difference whether it works or not. Is the choke bent by chance?

  • @Johnnysshop no thats straight, in the manual it says to turn the knob that you see under the choke at 0:56 to adjust idle. is that wrong info?

  • @itzgangzta i think you are adjusting the air mixture screw and not the idle

  • @mxdahlusional1 no, it says in the manual that is the idle screw. @Johnnysshop i kicked it over today, and took it for a ride. it idles perfectly when the choke is on, maybe a little low if i say so, but once i even move the choke back a little, it dies. the rpms jump when i start it with the hot start, so i know thats not jammed. you think i should just keep turning the idle screw until its good, or what? i need your help.

  • i found a good fix to stop your goggles from steaming up if u mix dish soap and house hold window cleaner together it stop them from steaming up the mix is 75ml of soap to 160ml of window cleaner. just thought i would share it with all of you maybe someone would make a video on how to mix it and how good it works thankx

  • @ModernModz2 Thanks for the tip! Maybe I'll make a vid on it.

  • I got a question if i am installing new v-force 3 reeds do i have to change the reed cage or can i use my stock cage? Reply asap as i need to no thanks m8

  • @ModernModz2 Sorry for the delay. On my old YZ125 I had to change the whole cage but I don't think it's required on a lot of bikes.

  • @Johnnysshop thanks mate great videos i done the clutch spring mod thing with the 6mm washers it works great on my yz125 can u tell me any cheap mods i can do to up my performance for a low price?

  • @ModernModz2 i know im a week late but if you buy pro curcuit reed they bolt up to the stock cage

  • this is the best do it your self vid two thumbes way up

  • @jbudham Thanks!

  • When My 2006 yz250f gets little quick blips of throttle like that it makes the same noise.... I read probably about 20 articles and forums about it and they were talking about it actually being lean, not rich like you said...Did you ever tune the bike up and fix the problem? If so, what'd you end up doing? Thank you!

  • @bloodhawk2 Hmm. Mine was actually rich believe it or not. I ended up re-jetting the bike. Went with the JD jetting kit.

  • hey, is this bike easy to maintain because i was thinking of getting one????????. i mosltly trail ride and mess about on the farm improving my skills. reply please

  • @EMZOx1996 If you take care of it, it's not bad. You will have to check the valves, adjust them and replace them at some point. If you want really easy maintenance I would get a 2 stroke.

  • @Johnnysshop thanks very much.

  • hey you know how it idle's up when you got the choke on? well when I start mine (08) with the choke on it will idle up for about 2 seconds and then go down to a very low idle like it is going to die, then I turn the choke off and it idles pretty good once it is warmed up.. So my question is why doesn't it idle up and stay idleing up?

  • @64AdamSeifert Hmm, not sure. Could be a jetting issue but it doesn't sound like it actually stalls. You could be running a little rich.

  • Ive got the same graphics kit :)

  • @LeGiioNs Best one to have :)

  • @Johnnysshop hey mate woundering where you got those stickers from they loook sweeet i would love them on my bike, cheers! :D

  • @lolabclol10 Thanks! They are Facelift Unlimited. I purchased them off ebay but most of the online shops carry them.

  • Hey, im actually looking to do this whole process to a 250 2 stroke i was just wondering what kind of money this costed you? im quite fimiliar with ebay and motorcycle superstore, Love the videos keep em up!!!

  • @joethehoee Thanks! I spent $2500 including the bike (Bike was 400 or 500 can't remember which). For a 2 stroke you could get by a lot cheaper. You figure I spent about $1200 on the motor alone. Valves, springs, guides, head work, timing chain, tensioner, bearings, etc... I got a lot of parts from motosport, eBay and rockymountainmc

  • surprised it started that easy??

get a two stroke, much better

  • @95tomn Yeah, I've had 2 strokes. Just surprized since I had just finished a complete rebuild on it.

  • @Johnnysshop ohhhh that makes sense then

  • @Johnnysshop hey man that was the first of your vids i watched so it didnt really make sense.

but nice vids and bike hope you have fun next spring :)

  • @95tomn Thanks!

  • Are you ever gonna sell one of your bikes?

  • @Trizzik I've only got one..

  • holy shit, beautiful bike and sound

  • @allebubba Thanks!

  • is this the 03 with the 3 number plates bike??????? if so holy crap you did an awsome job!!!!!!

  • @yamster88 Yep.. Over 200 videos on here for it. Thanks!

  • my 05 starts 1st kick :)

  • @yammirider96 This one does now. This was the first start after complete rebuild.

  • how much money u put into that bike its very nice!!! great vids.

  • @ansterds $2500 or so total including the bike. Thanks!

  • yz 250 :) 1st kick every time

  • @Monsterenergy8771 Yeah, I miss s 2 strokes for that very reason..

  • i love your bike man !:)

  • @skyl1neG Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah yoshi :D

  • @QcModder So far I love it!

  • Well done dude.

A lot of work has been put into that.

  • @nol33tplz Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, just a little work...

  • haha i watched the whole build of this, dam it took almost 1.5 hours of my saturday xD

  • @LolzMan7756 Wow that's a lot of watching.. Thanks!

  • damn that thing purrs like a kitten.. watched all of ya vids LOL, they were very helpful

  • @xXjulimanXx Thanks! That's a lot of vids to watch!

  • dude this is a nice bike man

  • @yz250f1rider Thanks!

  • Nice work Man! bike looks sweet as!

  • OMG, Nice job with them graphics man i got the exact same kit for my yz125 08 a couple months back but the backgrounds and front plate are black not white.

  • @Jakemxr Thanks! Black would have been nice but they didn't have it :(

  • Would an 2006 yz250f graphics fit on an 2005 yz250f ..or would any other year???

  • @Calikid42O No, you'll have to stick with 03-05.

  • Where did u get those blue hoses??

  • @stge2balt The vent lines or radiator?

  • @Johnnysshop vent lines

  • @stge2balt Rocky Mountain ATV

  • so i know you parted out your cr250.i have a cr85 that im trying to sell before it snows so i can get a 250f as a winter project.if i dont sell it soon i was thinking of parting it out but im worried it might take to long?or not everything will sell.so how long did it take for you to sell everything from that bike?

  • @noplacelikehome92399 It took about 2 weeks total. The motor went pretty quick (less than a day) and sold for more than I purchased the entire bike for. I sold the wheels as a set with tires, seat, I sold the radiators separate, etc.. I just threw away items like cables and hoses. The item that took the longest was the frame which I didn't care if it sold or not because I'd already make 1k profit at that point.

  • do these have alot of engine problems

  • @yz85rider1000 No, not really.

  • congrats man.very nice work!!

saw all ur vids.very good camera position and editing!

    waiting for a 2 stroke project...or a sport bike!

hope u'll enjoy riding the shit out of her...

    thambs up and safe ride!

  • @naorcon Thanks! I hope to get a 2 stroke to rebuild over the winter!

  • very nice bike! i wish i had the money and knowledge to rebuild but your videos are very very nice an helpful. would you ever rebuild a bike for someone else for some money. if so could you give me an estimate because my kx100 is getting rough

  • @accountseller50z Thanks! I would do builds but I'm sure shipping would be a pain!

  • how much for all of the aftermarket parts?

  • @cometpowell Including the bike, I'm in about 2500.. I sold some of the old parts to recoup the cost.

  • like ive commented before, the bike is very nice!i love it!you did very professional work!but im wondering,do you think you will do a 2stroke project?im a 2stroke guy and i would love to see how you make a cr or yz look!winter is coming up sooon!you should look around for another steal!

  • @noplacelikehome92399 I'm looking as we speak :). I was going to do a car as a winter project but would rather do another bike.

  • Damn that bike is so sexy and clean

  • @cursdAtrum27 Thanks! I haven't had time to get it dirty yet!

  • NEVER AND I REPEAT NEVER EVER TWIST THE THROTTLE ON A 4-STROKE B4 YOU START IT NEVER EVER

  • @kliffwalker If it hasn't been started in awhile or ever (in this case) you can give it a few quick twists of the throttle and will probably need to do so.

  • Nice bike! what was wrong with the engine?

  • @Peterrides Head messed up from a bad valve job from the previous owner.

  • @Johnnysshop so it wasnt as bad as you thought nice buy

  • Puurrsss like a walrus! <joke sounds great looks amazing!

  • @Leebull3 Thanks!

  • Gotta say Johnny, I have enjoyed watching your videos. Still a few to get through though :-)

  • @Maximusfool Thanks, I appreciate you watching them!

  • She looks n' sounds beautifull man!!!

  • @OLLY605 Thanks, I love it!

  • @Johnnysshop I would too =)

  • i ant seen a nicer bike than tht sweet man

  • @etniessk8er76 Ill send pic of mine in 2 weeks lol...getting it finalized, but yea beauty from what it was.

  • @stjeepan Post some pics when she's done!

  • @etniessk8er76 Thanks!

  • stupid question what is the brand of the blue lines behind the engine called that let out overflow gas when you put the bike down?

  • @GuitarKid905 Not stupid at all. They are made by Tusk. Rocky Mountain ATV has them.

  • @Johnnysshop thanks

  • @jmull77 Thanks! Yeah, I will have a detailed carb one in the future for sure.

  • i cant wait for your new vid in action :)

  • @noobiaznkid Waiting on some gear and a GoPro cam :)

  • Please record that beauty outside on a sunny day, in front of your garage, perhaps! Thanks! Great job once again!

  • @antpokas Will do. Raining today...

  • I just got my son's bike started too. I think it needs some adjustments. it seems to backfire a little when I snap the throttle, and throttle is sluggish, and the exhaust header gets EXTREMELY hot after a few minutes (not riding). It is a FMF powerbomb. does yours get really hot or do I need to fix something? and are you going to do videos on carb adjustments?

  • @rmeek73

It sounds like it's running lean, I would adjust the needle clip up, or the mixture screw.

  • @fargof06 Thanks, I am going to get a size larger pilot jet tomorrow to see what that does. The mixture screw was out almost 3 full turns when I got the bike with a 42 pilot jet. I am going to a 45 and see where we are at then. Does backing out the mixture screw make it leaner or richer? I forgot...

  • @rmeek73

    Usually out is richer.

  • @rmeek73 Out is richer (counter clockwise). Mine is about 4 turns out I believe.

  • @Johnnysshop Ok, so I had went to the bike shop and they told me to try starting at 1 turn out and said it is an air leak in 1 of the carb boots or the header pipe causing the popping and not the fuel mixture settings being lean. I also finally got a reply from FMF and they said to start at 2 turns out. I started at 2 turns and it totally cleared up for about 1 hour or so then started backfiring and popping again but not as bad. so I guess I will keep playing with it and look for air leaks.

  • @rmeek73 Sounds lean, I hope to be posting some new vids of carb tuning in the upcoming weeks. I've been super busy at work.

  • My yz250f 03 model start to smoke where it comes of at the engine, it's like oil is seeping out around it. Also when u let my bike sit for like a the exhaust starts to glow red. Is that normal? And what is a fix if it isnt.

  • @sladeoss Sounds like you need a new exhaust seal. It is normal for it to get super hot while idling.

  • @Johnnysshop Would gasket goop do the trick? Or am i better off just buying a new seal? If so where would i get one? (I'm in Sweden)

    Cheers

  • @sladeoss A new seal. I get a lot from Motosport, I believe they ship international.

  • after 82 parts i am more that happy to see it run!!!!

  • @killercrosby2 LOL.. More than that if you count the dis-assemble videos. I can't believe I made that many vids.

  • Great bike. amazing job... I didn't see a video on the graphics you put on the bike. Did you do one? What graphics kit is that, and where did you pick it up?

  • @rmeek73 I was going to but it was during the time my camera batt took a dive. They are Facelift Unlimited graphics.

  • hey i saw that hobart you got there sweet

  • @steveo928 Thanks!

  • Man that is great work you put into that bike I remember when it was just a project I think you should take it out and just show a review of the parts you put on it ( pretty much every spec) and start it up I'd like to see it

  • @MrLilpete75 That will be coming soon. Before and after pic also

  • what year bike is that? Also have you had any problems with the valves?

  • @RCdude33 03, Yes I purchased the bike with a valve issue. It was due to previous owner improperly building.

  • Yes!!! At last she lives...haha sweet bike dude..have fun with her..I actually just got done rebuilding my own 04 yz250f bottom to topend..i'll be cranking her up Monday or Tuesday..I'll post a vid...ps.. Your vids have actually helped me a bit in the rebuilding of my own bike..thanks!

  • wow what an amazing bike

  • @xXxDylan8milkxXx Thanks!
