  • i know what he is talking about but it can be said in other ways. he is saying it in a somewhat artsy sounding embellished sort of way...

  • damnnn this is interesting

  • When you see you are the cake and the cake is you. You are not a separate slice of cake anymore. You can have the cake and BE EATEN BY IT TOO!

Everything merges into itself. This can happen at any point, in death or in this appearance we call life.

  • That monologue reminded me a lot of the Frank comics. I guess he talks the way he draws, that man. Still trying to get my head around it...

  • this is the first time I've ever seen Jim Woodring..I pictured him much different.. he seems fairly normal which is a relief. I expected him to be like Robert Crumbs artist brother who lived in San Francisco and slept on a bed of nails. Only weirder.. Anyway, after reading his Frank and Manhog comics, I can honestly say that I'll never be the same again and will probably never know of anything as strange or as fascinating as his mind effecting artwork, ever again.

  • Jim Woodring is one of the those artists that keep life exciting. And this conversation feels frighteningly accurate.

  • oooooh, yeah, light green cake with lavendar icing...or does cake have to be scary? cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake...is it more or less scary if you say it a whole bunch of times? Could it be that everyones cake is different? Or is everones cake the same? And if 'bainst' who posted a year ago is right, that God is the cake, was Marie Antoinette really just suggesting to her people that they find religion? And for that harmless little suggesting...she lost her head.

  • THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!

  • You should look this guy up at wiki. This guy is genuine this way.

  • yes, and it doesn't have (that) much to do with drugs either

  • Surlylicious: God is the cake.

  • I've got The Frank Book, been thinking of getting some more Woodring stuff. Anyone know anywhere?

  • Jim Woodring's drawings are amazing, and since I saw he had a blog I've checked it fairly regularly. It's called "The Dutch Uncle of Dreamland," and since I'm a bit naive and didnt know much about his life, I assumed that he would be dutch, or speak in a heavy accent. He sounds quite like Wayne Coyne, I like that.

    His age is on Wikipedia.

  • Dutch uncle: person who is harshly critical for purposes of assistance/encouragement. Also on wikipedia.

  • "What, Jim? What is the cake at the end of the line?"

I guess that's for all of us to discovery.

he forgot to mention his "age" from age 40 to the present, well, before the age of cake, anyway.

    thanks for putting this up.
