  • Excellent video it's a shame that the bands are no more

  • Do you have the opening massed pipes and drums and Amazing Grace that comes right after this segment? It has to be the best version of Amazing Grace I've ever heard.

  • @ThereIsOnlyOneStuart

It was 18 years ago, and you are only 21!

Quit an impression to an 3 year old.

    Wel because you asked nicely...........................

  • @drummajor2000 I love old Highlights of the Edinburgh Tattoo as far back as the 1980's and I wasn't born until 2 months after this Tattoo. :P

I've been tutored by Peter Toole and on this Video, he's in the Tattoo as a leading Drummer with the Queen's own Highlanders. Over a year later he became the Drum Major of the New Regiment, The Highlanders Seaforths Gordons and Camerons.

  • @drummajor2000 Never missed one since! We still have all our old VHS tapes somewhere but nothing to play them on anymore. Out of all the Tattoos I've been to I think 93 was the best for massed pipes & drums and massed bands. Plus this was back in the day when the Tattoo put an effort into the fanfare... The one snippet I recall of the Vikings coming over the drawbridge might be my earliest memory. Many thanks for letting me watch it all again!

  • @drummajor2000 People do have tapings of this, you know?

I know I have a taping of everyone from 86, from my dad. So, I've seen all of them.

  • Fantastic, shame that I never witnessed the band like this. My first tattoo I went to was in 1995, I was only six. It made quite an impression that has brought me back ever since. 2011 will be my 11th. Can't wait!

  • This was a sad moment at the Tattoo. The last time that all the regimental bands of the 7 Scottish regiments performed together with pipes & drums. In 1994 all 7 of these bands were reduced to just the Highland and Lowland Band of 35 pieces each. Then in 2006 these two were combined into just the single Royal Regiment of Scotland band. This was a sight and sound to remember!

  • @waterloo3

Glad they went out on a high though, the 79th's was one of my fav combined tunes. Ach well eh, sad.

  • Sad day to lose the Regimental Bands,

  • Haven't seen it since appearing there...great to see. Good memories. Thank you very much for posting it.
