@affan546 hey bud--BackTrack can be difficult, if not frustrating, for people just getting into the Linux realm. Don't let that discourage you, though. I would definitely recommend some "homework", if you will. Most of the cool gizmos with BT5 are centered around the command line. If you're wanting to learn them, you're going to need to familiarize yourself with it and how it works. In the meantime, check out "metasploit community edition" (google it) and they provide a GUI interface:
i keep getting the Handler failed to bind to IP XXX:4444 message, also Exploit exception: The connection timed out (IP). it says any ideas why this is happening?
@backtracksecurityusr yes youre right, i just found out that this happens when i put on the antivir back to running... also i think this has been fixed by ms aswell probably thats the reason it wont work on my xpsp3 maschine. I will test it out on an old pc with no update i bet that would work...
Normally for me that error means that 1.) The OS is patched or at a different version, or 2.) the box has crashed. I've tanked my XP box a few times poking and prodding it with the metasploit framework. So is the box at the current patch level and is still receiving connections?
I think for my next vid i'll demonstrate how to check a box for vulnerabilities against all exploits and open up a session for you. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
well i think my problem is more the question n (1) because i tried to hack my own Win XP sp3 that i normally use and it is updated
But a few time ago i tried, with backtrack 4 r2, trying hacking a winXP sp2 with no updates at all and it showed the same message: "Exploit completed, but no session was created"
But i think my problem is that i dont know how to see vulnerabilities and understand them, if u will do a vid like that i check ur channel for news.
@RLS7RLS i hear ya, buddy. I'll try to throw a vid up on here this week for you to show you a great way to show all vulnerabilities and auto-exploit. I'll let you know when it's up.
@RLS7RLS hey buddy, went ahead and put that new vid in the channel.
This utilizes db_autopwn which will run all vulnerability checks against a target and automatically open up a meterpreter session for you. i think this is a easy way to at least get started--then once you understand how it works, you can start getting more specific. let me know what you think.
but i have a question, im new on BT5 and i followed your video and i tried to hack my PC and everything goes fine till it say: "Exploit completed, but no session was created"... there is a newer exploit or what could be the problem?
Why i get this Error: Invalid module: windows/smb/ms_o8_o67_netapi ?

@294dime change your 'o' to zeros (0). ms_08_067_netapi buddy. Try that.

@backtracksecurityusr That way, you can continue using metasploit while you take a look at learning some commandline-fu. Hope this helps.

Handler failed to bind to -------- : 4444
wht does that mean ??!!
nd by the way i tried it out network the pc is not on my LAN , so ???!!!!!!!!
aminohnedich 7 months ago
@aminohnedich could mean that the target is firewalled or patched.

CoderMatrixx 7 months ago
@CoderMatrixx could be several things. can you telnet to that port? If it's firewalled, that could stop you. Also, what OS/build/SP are you using?
