Remakes are never as good as the original. Why would you? Rutger was the "human" element in the original, and that is why it is so ironic because he wasn't "human".
Very refreshing to see such a positive attitude toward things. I watched the remake of The Hitcher with Sean Bean, and whilst i highly praise him as an actor, He just doesn't make me feel the need to check the corners of my room at night like Rutger did. In my opinion they used too much "Shock gore" which took away from the movie. The original, most of the gore is suggested, which I preferred. We do need some classics to not be touched, but its ok for some directors to see what they can do too.
OMG. such lovely smoking comments here. Lavishing this extraterrestial luxury. Thank you. Modigliani kicked ass. REMAKES well...One of my thoughts is that remakes may need to bee done because they are not in english. I shopped around for quite a few films. DAS MESSER IM KOPF by rainer hauff was one i was dying to make. FREAKS the B&W 1939 film. The other way i can see there is a play on play. Almost as music is interpreted. Same story done by different directors.
If "they" were to ever even attempt to remake such a masterpiece, it would definitely be the 7th Sign of the Apocalypse, and I would grab as many food rations as I could and head for the nearest underground bunker!
Rutger Hauer is without a doubt one of the most impressive, unsung improvisational poets of the film industry. He doesn't bring something to the table, he brings the table to them. Watch the original Hitcher. I salute you Rutger. From Pennsylvania.
I don't have any sort of prejudices against remakes, but they are totally unnecessary in my opinion when it comes to certain timeless classics such as Blade Runner. The point of a remake is to update a film for the modern audiences so that its message or story isn't lost in time and it doesn't make any sense remaking something that will never go away.
Remaking Blade Runner would be a sin, as far as i'm concerned, as well as pointless because there simply is no way to improve upon perfection. It's a genuine work of art that is one of the most truly brilliant, visionary films that has ever been made. A true cinematic classic that has stood the test of time.
no remake - no way - you could never capture the moments from the original - ethereal, emotional experience - a true vision of the future and that's why we love it so much. You are the best Rutger! wish you had had more opportunities to make more movies...
RUTGER! YOUR A BRILLIANT ACTOR AND PERSON! never forget that.

Hauer's a beast of a personality, a beast of a man, and a beast of an actor. One of the best.

Seconded, sir.
You were simply terrifying in the original.
Would be an even bigger travesty to remake or prequel on "Blade Runner."
That would be sacrilege!

If Rutger Hauer found out that Bladerunner would be remade, he'd probably just go all 'John Ryder' on the director whilst riding to work...
