Holy people. As a Canadian learning the sport, it kills me when you guys run on and on about how a 14 year old could play better! I've been to France, I've seen that every gym has handball lines and a net. Let's put the shoe on the other foot for a second, could you imagine Canada vs France, or Spain, or Germany in a hockey game? Or US versus the same teams in Baseball or Basketball? Let's work together to develop all sports around the world rather than beat other countries down over it!
@blackandblue10 We have too many sports here already and it's not like Americans are looking for new ones to fill the void. Because there IS no void. Handball is a ton of fun to watch. I love it. But kids don't grow up playing it or watching it on TV, nor do they have any stars to emulate, nor do they grow up thinking it's something they could potentially do one day for a living. We haven't had a totally new sport "take off" in this country in forever.
@in10forever: Pro handball is not restricted to germany/spain. It is widely spread all over europe. France, Poland, Denmark, Crotia, Slovakia, Austria etc. etc. The best clubs are in Spain and Germany, but the best still get a lot of money in other countries.
In terms of handball orign and history:
The first set of handball rules was written down and published by a dane. The game was further developed in northern Europe (DK, D etc.)
I mean I'm Croatian and live in America and been playing for a club here, Its pretty terrible I must say America is not there yet for handball. I hope it becomes more popular because it can be a very good sport like basket to watch, fast quick and there are some sick plays. But no problem not every country can be good at ever sport. America still has baseball and basketball Hokey football. Though idk how good you would do against EU national Basketball team, anyway YEAH
@zerbo13gringo13 Know it how? We know it's played in many different countries. But we have a hard time getting athletes to pick it up. We're decades behind the rest of the world.
@jensbolle Would that make you feel better? Good for you, Bunky. You could beat a country that can't play by 30 goals. Aren't there some crippled children you could go taunt?
@thecelebratedmisterk The problem is that the Aericans are quite arrogant and are thinking that they are the best no matter what they do, seeing American people play handball makes Europeans feel good. I have seen 14 years old kids in germany doing such spin shoots for example.
@FrEqUeNcYps I don't disagree about Americans. Our handball community isn't like that, though. We understand our limitations. Getting beat up by Denmark wouldn't change American arrogance, it would only retard the growth of the sport in this country.
@thecelebratedmisterk Yes, I see no real reason for one of the top teams demolishing the American national team, especially because as you mentioned it would only demoralize the few people who are trying to make this sport become more popular in America. Just imagine blacks playing handball (:
@jensbolle I would love to see denmark play the USA in american football or lacrosse, or basketball, or hockey, or baseball, even rugby. Hell, i think just about anything besides handball and soccer.

I never understood why this hasn't taken off in the USA. I thought Americans like sports with lots of scoring? (basketball)

But I'm glad to see that handball is alive in the USA ;)
