@hollisterluver1308 no matter how difficult gymnastics is it's always suppose to be fun! A coach connotation "make" a gymnast become something perfect it has to come from the gymnast herself and that won't happen unless the gymnast is enjoying herself. I do gymnastics and I'm a level 6 almost 7 and it's extremely hard sometimes but I enjoy it :))

There are children dieing from starvation around the world, child labour taking places in dangerous & poor conditions, children caught fighting in conflicts and wars etc. that merit more attention and changes than a common disciplinary training program for an international sport everyone everywhere recognizes.
If the trainers and coach are monsters as foreigners make them out to be, surely they would have not allowed interviews or filming and recording of the kind of training camps they run. These mental & physical training are quite common for instance in ballet and boot camps. I am a foreigner when it comes to other cultures outside my own and I don't go wagging my finger/criticizing and attempting to paint other nations or cultures in a negative light. I would expect the same from others.

Their parents take them to the gyms when the people who own these places come in hopes that they WILL take their kids to these places for two reasons: first the schools pay them some money each month, and second, they want their kid to have a chance to be a star in a country with around a billion people, and this is one of the ways. Chinese way of training is INSANE and should be forbidden. And there's no way, other countries should train that way. Of course, you have to make sacrifice, tyo handle pain, to train hard but there's a limit of what can a body handle and recover from.They don't respect tht limit there and it common to si 15 years old girl suffering the same way than a 75 years old woman because of hard training. I don't think a gold medal worth to destroy a kid health for hsi entire life.

What kind of parents or coaches would do they to harmless children? If the coaches were kids they wouldn't want that to happen to them, so why should they get to do it? My child is in gymnastics but they dont beat or torcher children like that, it's just so hard to see that...

Those kids are more determination than most of us. I am worry about our future in the U.S. out kids are getting so fat, overweight. I know of a guy that die of diabetes at 19 year old. Our food is killing us. Anyways, take care you all.

I did 23 hrs a week as an 8 yr old so i no how hard it is. But 2 get anything in life u have to work hard. This is the limit though.

we are raised with high expectations. it's not a perfect method. but then again, there's no such thing.
and think what you want about the coaches/parents. they don't look like it, but they care immensely for those children.

Chinese way of training is INSANE and should be forbidden. And there's no way, other countries should train that way. Of course, you have to make sacrifice, tyo handle pain, to train hard but there's a limit of what can a body handle and recover from.They don't respect tht limit there and it common to si 15 years old girl suffering the same way than a 75 years old woman because of hard training. I don't think a gold medal worth to destroy a kid health for hsi entire life.

Are you kidding ? There is other way to reach olympic level in gymnastics than torturing poor little kids like they do in China. How many gym center do exist ? how many chinese gymnast are training like helle veryday ? How many do you know or see in international competition ? How many have serious injuries, are completely broken and just left out by coaches because they couldn't handle training anymore ??? More more than the chinese atheles you see on television.

no we don't. Life isn't about being better than other people whether it would be in gymnastics or education or sports. And we've had Olympic Gold metalists, Shaun Johnson, Michelle Kwan, etc. We are here to be happy and make our children happy, not be over competitive like the Chinese. So who gives a shit if we're falling behind in education? At least we're not suffering like these kids in the video. At least we have the choice of doing gymnastics and studying. In China, you don't.

I am a US citizen and wish we had programs like this to take children educate them and give them the chance to achieve greatness.
