  • stop being so critical! different things work for different people.

  • i've tried using paper towels they dont work that well, there are to pads either cotton or cylicon, the cylicon ones are rlly useful !! they are slightly thick at the bottom so pain prevention is fantastic !! and i think its better to tie the ribbons on point not to make it too tight and comfortable !

  • @SKkishekmusiclover I HATE the cylicon ones, my feet get sweaty and they slip every time lol and I've tried them on the outside of my tights but they still slip :/ I'm gonna try the wool ones.

  • i've tried using paper towels they dont work that well, there are to pads either cotton or cylicon, the cylicon ones are rlly useful !! they are slightly thick at the bottom so pain prevention is fantastic !!

  • FAILURE

  • Why would you use paper? You could just use toepads they're more comfortable and dont stick out of your shoe!

  • this vid is a lie all they do on here is lie. ive had my pointe shoes for 3yrs and paper towels will just give u blisters and it will urt even more!!!!!! IDIOTS

  • paper can give you bad blisters! you need toe pads. they are like gelly sortta and they are made for point shoes! i have them.... and they are alot better the toilet paper :P

  • u use paper?? i use toe pads..

  • good 2 know

  • That is great to use paper towel because you can feel the floor. That is the correct way to put on your pointe shoes! Good job.

  • @tutu1234ss Are u stupid thats Nooo way to do pointe shoes

  • um... good vid. but some teachers don't let you wear anything inside your shoes.

  • I've been laughing at the scratching on arch ever since!

  • this old video...

  • Is that finis jhung?? If not he loooks JUST like him!

  • Yes it´s Finish Jhung

  • does no one see that the old quality points to early 90's late 80's, meaning no ouch pouches?

  • i think this video is old because now people use pads!

  • I get amused as how some here can't understand this video is probably a VHS grab of a recording done in the early 90s, of some girl, tying her shoes her way! Just that! No need for arguing, some do this way, others do differently. As long as you can dance comfortably, that's just fine!

  • first, i can't understand you, second, can't you just use ouch pouches, whats up with the toilet paper?

  • i like ouch pouches LOL

  • I think some ballett dancer are using a slice of meet

  • I don't use ouch pouches , but a lot of people like them ,

  • i did but on saturday i changed to gellos with gel on one side and cloth on the other. theyre reversable! i love them!

  • i changed to gellos to and i love them

  • yeah they are awesome and they work!!

  • Sapatilha de ponta doi mto//

  • oww using a paper towl, i have never done that!

  • she look weird at 0:28

  • don't5 use paper towel and the outside ribbon goes first and when you get them both around your ankle then you tie it in a knot twice and roll it up and put it in the ribbons

  • yeah but there are different ways. :)

  • well she said its the correct way

  • ok sorry...... :( maybe ti is.

  • First of all, don't tell people not to use certain padding. Some studios require that you wear no padding! Have an open mind please.

Oh, and it doesn't matter which ribbon goes first. ;) It looks the same regardless. By the way, its easier to take the knot out if you do a box knot. Tie it one way first, and put the opposite ribbon under the second time. Did that make sense? Its easier after you've danced and tightened it to take the knot out.

  • no she said that is the correct way and where i take dance we tie a knot twice and the outside ribbon first that is how my dance teacher taught us to tie it

  • Well congrats that you think that your way is the one and only way. ;)

Please do get a dose of reality, that your way is not the only correct way. Frankly, I think that's great! But you need to remember- there many other people in the ballet world besides you, so please don't tell others not to do certain things. They may be taught differently, and thats not something that they can control.

If I am incorrect, please do say so... I couldn't understand you very well, I just got the gist. ^^

  • no you didn't apparently on her video it says the correct way i never said mine was the only way

  • um i think i will use paper towels

  • does anyone else find the guy like really annoying!?

    nice vid.

  • why are you using paper towel? why dont you use toe padding? does it actually help?

  • hasnt she heard of toe pads lol

  • its also a waste of paper ha

  • its only been a few years that the ballet world has had pads, its a very new 'technolgy' you could say to ballet dancers

  • i dont think toe pads are technology to ballet

  • lol i think i know that xD

ok then......improvments, inventions......does that sound better??

    =|

  • ya maybe =))))))))))

  • Thanks!! This was soooo helpful!!! I suck at tieng my pointe shoes and this helped so much!!!

  • personally i wouldnt use paper towels. much rather use ouch pads or animal wool. but it is whatever suits the dancer. best to try and see what is best for everyone

  • Everyone- Please comment my pointe videos and give me advice! I am new to pointe and would love advice and tips!! Please go watch them and comment :)

  • u dont need ouch pouches but you shouldnt use paper because it can rub more on your skin and give u blisters

  • This video is quite old, thats why it doesn't say ouch pouches but says paper towel, most likely

  • you dont get in to pointe as soon as you start ballet, some dancers have to wait 3 years till they are ready

  • not really in cecchetti ballet after the first grade you can be on pointe. so a year to four years

  • i am 14 and have just started pointe. this is how we do it at out dance school as if dancers are put on pointe too early and find it hurts, they are more likely to give up ballet all together. i have also found it relatively easy to start pointe now as my leg strength has been built up so well. however i do understand that in some more serious places, children may be put on earlier as they will be less discouraged. if a child is over 12 willing and able, why not? :)

  • amo el ballet ..!

  • dont stuff your shoes

  • i never use toe pads

  • you don't need ouch pouches to dance in pointe shoes!!!!!!!!

    xoxox the girls

  • ouch! I have these grey things ( not ouch pouches just cover my toes)and lambs wool n tried this out for like a releve n was sooooooooo much more painful

  • 1. Use Ouch-pouches instead of paper towels

    2. Make sure your knee is 90 degrees when you tie!!

  • by 90 degrees, do you mean bend the leg and lean over it or something else?

  • it doesnt matter whether or not you use ouch pouches, it just depends on your own comfort level

some dancers dont wear any padding at all, and i would as well if it werent that painful

dancers like the way they can feel the floor

  • 1. Some people use different padding. Ouch pouches are not the only type of padding.

    2. I just flex my foot, and it puts no strain on my achilles. The main thing, is to not point your foot while you tie. ^^

    3. Keep an open mind please.

  • i want to begin with the ballet... so... where do i can buy the shoes???? please answer me in my account!!!!!!!

  • i tie my shoes this way, whenever i tie them...everyone looks at me like i'm crazy.

    thankyou thankyou thankyou

    but ouch, paper towel.

my ouch pouches were tooo small, and then was too much pain.

    ouch.

  • I cut out the toe part of old socks and put the seam on the bottom of your foot.

  • owch!! only use paper towels if your shoes are REALLY broken in. =P

  • I wonder what's the title of this video.

  • this is from late 80s or early 90s. ouch pouches werent around i think

  • just use pads.there easyer and feel better

  • first of all, why are you using paper towels instead of pads? second, when you tie your pointe shoes, arent you sopose to go on the point?

  • No!!! Flex your foot so that you tie them to the greatest extent of your foot.

  • It's because they used paper towel a long time ago... this was filmed a while ago :)

  • why don't you just wear pads. it will save you alot of time and It's much easier to wear

  • save the trees.

    use ouch pouches!

  • ok...that's kinda strange!!!

  • paper towels just rip when you use them, and the blood gets the towel all nasty hhaha

  • ouch thats really bad....pointe shoe pad are better and I actually didn't bleed when I did pointe..and it was my first Ballet class sence I was 4 and I'm thirteen now and I get it really well. Mabey it's because I do a little iceskating.

  • lol y the paper towe?? that is weird.. i use pads

  • LMAO she has a weird shaped head

  • pads are way better paper towles are not good!!!!

  • she should wear pads theyre way better

  • the gel pads haven't got to the USA yet?!?!?

  • of course it has

    shes just an idiot

  • what? paper? what is that? nooo.. i don't think so

  • I'm sorry... but I think that's a terrible idea for padding...

  • i use a type of wool that the dance shop i brought them from gave me because the pair i wanted didnt fit with toepads on.

i feel it helps when i am doing piroettes and turns....

  • worthless trash

  • Oh my gosh! Paper towels as padding! That sounds super painful!

  • i know it sound so stupid!

  • its not padding at all!

i use gell pads called 'ouch pouch'

  • me too!

  • Actually, The pure gel ones aren't that good. They may be comfortable, but they are thick and size and not as good as material ones. You should probably get the ones that have gel on the inside and material on the ouside. Tissue or paper towels are better for more advanced dancers. Plus, it is a good idea to break in the shoe before you wear it.

  • GAYNOR MINDEN 4 SURE!

  • I would still get grishkos xD i have a pair and i absolutely adore them

  • Can u make a video in how to untie a pointe shoe?

  • What video is this from that clip?

  • i use gel. its much comfortable

  • i use gellows...they're nice and comfy and have two sides so they're reversable

  • that guy in the background needs to shut up and let the girl talk!

  • i use hamster bedding lol x

  • That's a neet idea does it work good?

  • yes totally 100 %. it works a treat. i can walk and dance on my toes for 3hours with the same hamster bedding iN lOL. X try it nd tell me if its alrite for u. x wb x

  • i use gel pads

  • dnt use ouch pouches !!!

they dnt strenghten ur feet !

i wud say use animal wool

    i du nd its great ! x x x

  • im pretty sure no one will go out and buy animal fur.

  • exactly

most people think that ouch pouches are okay just b.c. they feel good on your feet. lambs wool is best if your feet arent strengthened enough yet.

  • no lambs wool is for begginer's that don't dance long hours on pontie

  • there are much easier ways than this that look the same.

  • well who doesnt use special pads, geez

  • i dont use paper towels i use the special pads

  • ouch pouch right!!

  • seriously

  • i only have the shoes with no elastic,or ribbons.wat do i do???

  • you can get elastic and ribbons from the local dance store or at the seamstress (where they hem pants and sew holes, etc), just make sure you mark the right place for them to sew it on for you (refer to this video...) hope it helps

  • your going to have to sew a ribbon onto it

  • why doesn't she take any normal schooner??

  • Why are her elastics sewn on the outside of the shoe??

  • because some poeple find it really uncomfortable to have them on the inside and im guessing that these shoes are only for rehearsals and lessons so it doesnt matter that much.

  • This video can't be too old. The dancer is wearing convertible foot tights which are relatively new.

  • most likly from the early 90s or late 80s

  • is the paper towel your only padding?

  • the paper towel isnt padding it is to soak up sweat so it does soak in to the shoe and make it soft, she probably is told not to wear padding or just doesnt feel the need for it.

  • ok thank-you for telling me

  • Can you upload a clip where she's gonna stand up?

  • Most proffesionals (exculding in the U.S.) actually use paper towels, because pads can prevent you from feeling the floor and some people prefer less material inside their shoes. I usually just wrap my toes in a two or three layers of tissue paper and my shoes don't hurt at all.

  • Do you have more to this video?

  • also this video is old- it was made in like the 80s-90s before ouch pouch type modern technology for pointe was invented

  • u dont need the paper towel. thats what gel pads are for!

  • omg that wouldnt do much, i think ill keep my gel pads to!!

  • omg. why are the ribbons and elastic sewn on the outside?????

  • why are her ribbons sewen on the outside.!!??

  • i never use padding

  • i have tried that but for best protection i usually use gel pads.

  • Yeah, I like gel pads but I use paper towels because I am always poking holes in my gel pads and it is usually a while before i can get new ones.

  • i better stay with my trusty gel pads....

  • i think im gonna use paper towels soon,, i have tried it before... it is 10 times much comfortable than gel pads... really!!!

  • M~I think paper isn't very comfortable...

  • What's this video called?

  • i use an ouch pouch...i would never use paper..

  • why doesn't she just use pads? It would work a lot better. And don't go on saying "people have their opinion" and blah blah blah, I'm not critisizing, I'm just confused on whether or not she knows they exist.

  • why do you use paper towels you could use padding that is for pointe shoes instead of paper towels just a suggestion

  • I' gonna have to try paper towels sometime, now!

  • is that finis young?

i took a few master classes with him, he really teaches you alot within one class

  • no thanks i like toe pads...

  • very interesting but doesn't it hurt? woudn't your feet die?(not in a bad way)

  • yes at first it hurts but then it stops hurting eventually. But its totally worth it for people who love dance!

  • I use gel pads, but I may try this..

  • I think paper towels are great. I tried gel pads and they made me crazy. But most of the people in my class use gel pads and they think I am nuts, so everybody is different:)

  • FINALLY! A dance student who knows the CORRECT way to tie pointe shoes! And yes people, paper towels are better than your cheater gel pads. She was obviously taught correctly by profesionals. Thank you for this video.

  • i was taught correctly by proffesionals, just because someone does something differently doesnt make everyone elses way wrong- i use thin ouch pouches it really depends on your comfort level. Please don't criticise dancers who have different opinions than you

  • I refer to my frequent observasion of dance students who tie ribbons with the knot on their shins (causing shin splints) and those who wrap the ribbons all the way up to thier knees, and some who leave them tied in a big fat BOW.

  • sorry i didn't mean the ribbons- i meant the gel pads, someones not a cheater for using them- but i do agree with you on the ribbons, people see me with my shoes and they're like "why are you ttying them on your ankle?" I and i'm like "you actally think think they go up to your knees?

  • I don't use gel pads! I use wool, and the ribbons should be shorter. Even if I did use gel pads I wouldn't be cheating, I would be taking better care of myself. You're not supposed to wrap the ribbon around 5 times, they are WAYY to long!

  • My teacher would kill me for that, I'll keep my gellies.

  • Paper towels...that's interesting. o___o;;

I'll stick with the Ouch Pouch; they're comfortable.

  • Ummmmmmmm...... paper towel? That's kinda interesting. Well, everyone is different and it's everyone's opinion on what's more comfortable, and I guess that one is yours. :)

  • paper towels? interesting way for padding

  • lol

  • when was this video made the 80's?

  • Holy wow, I would never, ever dance en pointe without gel padding and lamb's wool...paper towels by themselves, she's crazy!

  • all wrong paddings are the best

  • i had foam toe pads, they were really comfortable! and not too expensive too. my pointe shoes are cloch and they hurt like hell because they're the wrong size to begin with, cos i have narrow feet and the lady at the ballet supplies store gave me a size smaller grrrrr.

  • you sew the riding on wrong

  • It looked like she was getting ready to wash her hands with paper towels and going by the name of the video I thought it was about

tying the pink ribbons. When I did ballet I had lambswool toe pads...not as good as today's gel pads. Rhonnie

  • Haha. You're so adorable. I don't know how old you are, you just remind me of this twelve-year-old girl in my ballet class (who taught me how to tie my pointe shoes). And she's adorable. Clever, with the paper towels.

  • my gel pads where like... 25 bucks =.= but this is also a useful idea for those who dont want to spend money on them... (tho i think its a better idea to just buy them xD)

  • I don't use paper towel I use paddings

  • mine were $24...i agree they cost as much as some dance shoes! (like flat ballet shoes) its crazy!

  • i have toe pads. but mine were really expensive. this is my first time on pointe

  • can somone tell me i dont know wut is better . im so confused. toe pads are expensive , but i have really soft feet so i really dont want blisters im starting pointe in 1 month help!!!

  • Some people can't afford pads (beleive it or not) I use paper towels and used pointe shoes. This video was very helpful.
