  • I used dish soap and olive oil. It found it to be better than my mac brush cleanser. :/ The brushes would actually dry softer than when I used mac.

  • hi, so after I clean a brush, do I need to let it out to dry or can I just put it back in my brush pouch right away ?

  • @allydarkness86 You let it dry. If you let it stay wet, it will ruin the bristles and dissolve the glue holding the bristles in. Smaller brushes only take half an hour or so. A large brush (like a foundation or blush brush) will probably need to be left out overnight... I usually do all my brushes in the evening, then they're ready in the morning to be used again.

  • @CFHWolfe thank you so much :)

  • I realised that I have to clean my brushes after I got rashes on my face. Ewww... gross! but, no more!

  • I love your hair!

  • what mild shampoo do you reccomend?

PS - love your vids.. i just subbed :)

  • i have the sammmmmme headband! i love your videos!

  • Ohmigod, I'm going to go clean all my brushes right now...! =-O

  • so you don't need to rinse the brushes with water after cleansing with the brush cleanser?

thank you so much your videos are really helpful!!!

    greets from austria

  • your so awesome!!

  • actually few things: i've tried mac cleanser n it kinda sux....i had someone suggest i use - 1 part olive oil with 1 part 'disinfecting' dishwashing liquid on a plate....n then swirl ur brushes, then rinse out...omg it blows mac's brush cleanser out of the water!!!

next...when ur drying the wet brushes, u shud put them upside down with bristles at the bottom of a cup, so that water drains OUT.

  • @desig1rl sorry mac cleanser doesnt work for you.

  • @desig1rl I actually saw that video- michelle phan. After I continually did that as my deep clean for three days, my M.A.C. 190 brush actually started getting "split-ends". MAC brush cleanser are good because they dry quickly, and there isn't much water, so you don't have to DRY THEM DOWN.

  • @desig1rl you got that from Michelle phan!!! haha i love that video

  • @desig1rl mac brush cleanser is good. but i reccommend baby shampoo for a cheaper alternative

  • If you're just spot cleaning your brushes with the Mac cleanser, do you have to rinse them at all before you use em' again? I'm asking because i have very sensitive eyes.

    Thanks so much! :)

  • @Love4QT Nope. That's how I clean them every other day...or everyday. I just use the cleanser then let them dry.

  • lol.. lana, as soon as I finished watching this video i started to clean my brushes I was really lazy to do them this whole week ..

  • @Chunkynumber18 Good! lol

  • I LOVE your New Channel!! Do you mind doing a video on how to apply false eyelashes and what types of glue and lashes you reccomend PLEASE =)

  • @WS8487 Dont worry...there are TONS of videos to come

  • I have my brushes standing in a cup. I have a brush belt but I feel like they don't keep their shape in there for some reason. Great info thanks.

  • i wish i liked the brush cleaner! ): i used it a few times and once they were dry they were sticky! it was gross. i returned it because i couldn't figure out how to use it without my brushes turning sticky. help?!

  • Thanks for sharing this ! Love your new camera, lighting and stuff !

In terms of durability, how much time the MAC brush cleaner will last ?

Thanks again and keep the videos comin' :)

  • @foo8lover that all depends on you foo! (haha that made me laugh) It depends on how much you use when you clean your brushes, and how OFTEN you clean your brushes. I never like to tell anyone how long a product lasts, because its all in how they use it.

  • @VivaGlamLana Haha, it's for Foo Fighters ;)

Ok then, I'll try it out soon !

  • So helpful! One question: When you use the brushes in the morning, is it damaging to your brushes if you wait until you come home that night from work/school before you cleanse them (or should it be done immediately right after each use)? Love your new camera - it is sooo clear :)

  • @cosmetica529 as long as you do it, it should be fine.

  • Hair looks fab. Great tips. I have been doing most of these already but I usually was with shampoo and then spray with brush cleanser as a last step. I guess if I mix then I would have to do just the one step instead of two. :)

  • To save product, I pour a tiny bit in a bowl and use it. Ive noticed Ive cut down on wasting about half the product since I no longer pour it straight on the towel. I also save product by diluting the brush cleaner with water and put it in a travel-size spray bottle. I also love using anti-bacterial soap + olive oil for deep cleaning. Anti-bacterial is a must.

  • I really like the new set up :)

  • Do you have any tips on stopping brushes from shedding? I have the 188 and it sheds like crazy. I had to stop using it for my foundation because i ended up having to pick the fibers off my face which also messed up my foundation. Some guru on here said once you wash the brush it shouldn't shed too much but it seems the more often i wash it the more it sheds =S

  • @LaraZombie That darn tootin 188. I used to get that a lot when it came out. You know, if you try everything from cleaning it EVERYDAY, to only using dry products with it and it STILL wont stop shedding, it might just be the brush. Every now and then there's an oops, it's okay... just make sure you always keep your receipts so you can exchange it or something.

  • what color are you wearing on your lips in this? just a tip, you don't have to be like "in this video...." because we know by the title :)

  • I wash my face brushes with baby shampoo to get all the gunk off, especially foundation brushes. that's okay right?

  • @sissyboo you're good =)

  • @VivaGlamLana thanks babe! ;)

  • FIRST...loooove the hair =) .....I wash my brushes with Pantene shampoo and conditioner in one... almost every time I use them especially any face brushes. Is that too harsh of a shampoo?

  • @vlo83 i would use a baby shampoo... Pantene is bad for your own hair, I dont know what it would do to your brushes.

  • great video! that's all really good advice =]

  • on oh yea the brush guards are awesome it keeps dust, dirt, and bacteria away but yea anways I then just place them upside down inside in any cup.well u should try it out and tell me about it......=) ohh btw Girl luvin the hair!

  • @OunDarani Hey if it works for you go right ahead! I wouldn't put anything damp into a guard or anything like that, bacteria is a sneaky lil thing, and it can grow if all of the bristles are packed together while drying.

  • hiii lana!! I've learn that drying your brushes on its side when finish cleaning them can also damage your brushes because, you see the water can seek back down into the handle and loosen the glue it happen to some of my brushes so I tried a new way which is hanging them upside down with my brush guards on
