  • I think it could work cause I think the point of the movie is that he is being lead by god. Which if you see the house scene you will understand.

  • Realistically, would a machete work in blocking a chainsaw?

  • @weaverisinsane I've wondered this myself. When I first saw this movie I thought at the very least the chainsaw would throw the machete out of his hands. Obviously the power of being Denzel is good.

  • @dfoots The way a chainsaw chain moves is from back to front along the top and front to back along the bottom. The way he blocked it, coupled with the shape that thing was probably in, might have worked.

  • @weaverisinsane Realistically? Probably not, but its possible if he held the blade at an angle so the chain would slide off instead of getting caught in it. It would still very likely chip the blade of his machete though.

  • Tactical goggles, end of the world got it.

  • What a sick movie! The fight scenes, the story and the music are epic!!

  • Trying to rob Eli....... That's a paddlin"

  • Er how did he draw his machete that fast

  • ho man, I had to watch the last 30 seconds over again 5 times. This is such a good scene.

  • Props to the fat guy for at least getting a headbutt in.

  • Eli: The black Ezio

  • Fallout 3

  • Epic

  • lol the chainsaw guy always dies last.

  • fuckin raiders

  • AWESOME FUCKING SCENE...YOU KNOW WITH THE VERY HIGH QUALITY OF THE RED ONE AND THE EXCELLENT EDITING YOU ALMOST CANT TELL THIS IS SHOT ON DIGITAL INSTEAD OF FILM. SUCH A COOL MOVIE.

  • @andrademeza You're at an 8, I'm gonna need you to bring it down to about a 5, mmk?

  • This scene was intense the guy with the chain saw is scary

  • KISS EM! lol

  • When he cut off the hand, I reacted exactly the same way at the same time as those guys at 2:19.

  • Love the camera position, all we see is their shadows and the great fight scene, just brilliant film making!! Great movie with the best message wich something is different for everybody!

  • all that and hes fucking blind :P

  • @lizzerdguy He's not blind. He could just read braille

  • @HarrisonWHB24 watch the film again and look for things to prove he is blind... i done it and you can miss so much the first time watching it

  • @HarrisonWHB24 nope, he's blind. The movie is somewhat biblical. There is an Eli in the Bible who was in fact blind. And no, I'm not saying it's a prophecy, more like a reference. If you watch the movie again, there are clues that hint he's blind. Like most blind people, his senses heightened. He could smell beyond the average human (he could smell the cannibals). He didn't kill the cat until it meowed. And he heard Carnegie and his crew start their cars from a very far distance.

  • @1337kingFTW Yeah all those were his God given gifts. All through the movie he is moving his eyes blind people dont, just look at the blind lady. and the firefight no way he could snipe people off buildings at 50 yards with a handgun if he was blind

  • @HarrisonWHB24 blind people can move their eyes! lol Is that like a stereotype now? I do agree God may have given him a gift, but remember... this is a movie. During the gun fight scene, Eli didn't shoot UNTIL he was shot at. He had to hear where the snipers were shooting from in order to have a sense of where they were. The reason why he didn't shoot Redridge (Carnegie's right hand man), after the gun fight was settled, was because Redridge didn't shoot...Eli just aimed his gun senselessly

  • @1337kingFTW He is not blind, he can read with his hands like blind people, God gave him that gift. He was looking and talking to those 2 elderly people like a person with 5 sense. He snipe the cat down in the woods/forest like a person who could see, so he is not blind.

  • @7Know7Thy7Enemy7 You guys missed the whole idea of this movie! Travel by faith, not by sight! The reason he was looking at the old couple was because he could hear them shaking (and talking of course). If I closed my eyes, and someone were to talk to me a few feet away, I would know exactly where there were. As for the cat, he hesitated a bit because he wasn't sure where the cat was. It wasn't UNTIL the cat meowed when he shot it. This is a movie guys. Things are going to be a bit unreal.

  • @1337kingFTW You right about it will be a bit unreal because it's a movie, but you still have to notice the way he was talking to the pawn shop guy, and when he found the skeleton in the car. You don't have to be blind to follow by faith my friend.

  • @7Know7Thy7Enemy7 to be honest, I don't remember those scenes too well. Didn't he touch the skeleton? And if he didn't, I'm sure it left a distinct odor. And you misunderstood me, I didn't mean to imply that only people with blindness have faith. What I meant was, ALTHOUGH he was blind, faith guided him towards his path. In any case, it's still an interesting movie. It was fun talking to ya :D

  • @1337kingFTW Well yeah, nice talking to you too, our disagreement is all in good heart, take care buddy.

  • 3:07-3:11, denzel looked like a samurai warrior.

  • All the movies in this scene are 'legit. None of the scenes have 3 guys just standing around or off standing somewhere while he fights one guy at a time. He uses almost all of his limbs with high accuracy.

  • hes blind and al

  • love the way he just throws the machete down after the fight

  • Is it bad to laugh my ass off at this scene? XD

  • @notessimodude well eli having small talk with the hijackers was funny ^^

  • i thought at first the book was like enchanted or had some religious powers of some sort. and then i found out it was the Bible. - i was thinking of fictional powers lol stupid me ^^

  • 3:08...*shing* "AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH" *skershshdshh* *fat guy causes earthquake by falling down*

  • its a bolo knife,

  • he took that guys hand of with almost no effort

  • @Misterlucky409 Lol the funny thing about it was it looked like all he did was fold his arms together but ^^ he is still a great fighter >.> not going against his chopping off hands...

  • 1:00 LOL I AM IMPRESSED!

  • @TranceJunkie343 LOL the leaders laugh at 2:08

  • what a badass scene lol @chainsaw fatguy

  • My head just exploded

  • ha check out the sign on the tunnel -- "14:6" -- probably John 14:6

  • lol Denzel Washington is better than chuck norris

  • @snooptv1990 HELL YES

  • You're right. It is a machete. But the holes in it don't make it cheap. They're for fluidity. Cheap or not, he makes it rape face. So good for him.

  • @dfoots And also, circles are the strongest geometric shape which is why it's placed that way along the slicing edge of the blade to prevent it from snapping. Chinese blades were shaped the same but without the holes and they would continuously break because the way it's structured is not stable. With the circles placed within it, it causes the sword to be more stable when vibration's thru from the strike are spread differently.

  • @dfoots It looks like a Kopis, or a Falcata. Machetes aren't razor sharp like that.

  • @dfoots Actually the holes are to reduce the weight of the blade on one end so it's more balanced. It's kind of like a fuller.

  • @dfoots Wait what are the holes for? Fluidity? Whazat?

  • @AlvinSpitoon Like cheese knives. They prevent sticking.

  • @AlvinSpitoon

    makes the blade lighter.....

  • legit one the most badass characters ever

  • wow, i totaly wana see this movie! looks amazing!

  • Damn ;D I would like to see this movie but I cant find it in stores in my country :P

  • this was one of my favorite parts of the movie. eli in this movie worked at a k-mart before the "flash"

  • lol yeah that was a great part of the movie :) I MISS U DFOOTS, WTF, ghostie is nawt able to find yew :(

  • @prasadudwadia omgitsnewyork, that is how you find me.

  • One of the few good scene from an otherwise "ok" movie. What I don't understand is why the producers had our hero weilding a cheap-o Bud K type machete. I hope that in a post apocalyptic future, the hope of manking does not depend on a $10 mail order butter sword.

Cool scene though; thanks for posting.

  • @seancrady You know what they say: post-apocalyptic survivors can't be choosers. Plus, it's a really sharp machete.

  • @seancrady actually its a Khukri,or Kukri A Nepalese melee weapon. Also to remind you that many of the other people during this time in the movie used lead pipes, bats and at best a chainsaw and other random objects. So a Kukri sword is not such a bad weapon :). Also its not about the sword but rather the one who wields it.

  • @Jeffinator22

It's not a kukri. I can say this because I own a Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri. A Kukri has a curved spine, Eli's is flat/straight. His blade is a cheap machete with holes drilled in it.

  • @seancrady I think your right on this one, my mistake. But point still remains that Eli sharpened the heck outta that thing and was a master of it in the movie, and like I said most of the other guys had pipes and bats only.

  • @Jeffinator22 Why dont you actually go and google image a khurki and tell me if it looks anything like the one Eli is using. Its a Malay Machete.

  • @simion11 If you read my other comment i said "my mistake it is a machete". Chill.

  • Woah. This is crazy. Why have I never seen this show/movie, and where can I find it?

  • @deliafcipe It came out in January. You can download it or go rent it. Piracy FTW?

  • @dfoots Nice. I will definitely do that. Thank you for uploading this.
