@brandojitsu123 You are right, Tom Waits is my most favorite musician of the past 30 years. His dedication to music making is remarkable, he is the only musician I know of who would still sing even if the only things he had were a raspy sandpaper voice and an Oldsmobile hubcap as a musical instrument. I also mention Kathleen Brennan as a wonderful influence to his art, I think that he owes her a lot.

HA!  I am becoming a Tom Waits fan... And I love that he wrote this song about a place which has always remained a sort of bucolic fantasy for me from childhood, when I lived there around 1957 and 1958?. I was around 10? (Born in 1948). It was such a lovely place, with places to go ice skating and farms and corn fields right next door. The people were so friendly. Had my first kiss there (spin the bottle) in Johnsburg, Illinois.
