  • I'm just not feeling this performance.

  • Excellent!

  • The violinist looks like Otho from Beetlejuice!!!!!!

  • This is amazing!

  • Thank you for sharing this gem.

  • 99,999 views.......woah.....this is amazing too btw.

  • Very nice, even felt like a duet.

  • Dança Macabra, sou louco por essa música desde a primeira vez que a ouvi!

  • wonderful!

  • I was on that concert! Fantastic performance! Bravo Vesko, Bravo Ludmil!!!!

  • GREAT!!!!!

  • Oh wow. I've only ever heard the orchestral version but this is amazing!

  • This is probably one of the best Danse Macabre live performance.

  • Genius !

  • The sheet music is easy to come by. I got a copy literally 1 month ago. Fentone, Durand, and Kalmus all print this arrangement.

In terms of any criticism of the players, this is unwarranted. This is a foul piece to play for both instruments; the piano part edges the violin part for difficulty. Pulling off the piece with this level of passion and accuracy is no mean feat. This is live music, not a sanitised multi-take recording, and as such it really is a masterful performance by both players.

  • Brilliant! Exactly how the piece needs to be played.

  • bravo

  • That is the way to hit that first chord! Bravo!

  • stupenda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There might be mistakes, but it's still the best version you can find on youtube. No-one plays it with such passion, and the tempo is right (the other versions you can hear are excruciatingly slow !!!) Great job !

  • Now this is what Danse macabre should sound like!!!!!

  • wonderful..

  • These guys have skills

  • he plays like its in a dream real in front of you

  • Okay, let me rephrase. Maybe a "lot" wasn't the best word. How about a "number"? "Few"? I don't just sit and listen for mistakes but when I'm actively listening to something, meaning I'm sort of concentrating on it and blocking everything else out, and suddenly something stands out that, how should I say, breaks that "trance" you're in, do you know what I mean now? Like driving down that glass smooth road and finding the surprise pothole! Kind of like that piano bench..."KA-RAAAAAAKKKK!!" :-p

  • @flyurway You can feel free to not listen if you don't like. It's wonderful to the rest of us.

  • @gogolusa I give an honest opinion on something mentioning PROS as well as cons and a year later people are still bitching about it.

  • Hey, I was giving my opinion up here just like everyone else. People there were probably paying to hear them so they should be open to criticism, I was not totally trashing them so relax.

  • @flyurway you know, most people haven't a clue about the 'mistakes' you cite. Why is it that everyone has to be a critic? Can't you just shut up and enjoy the music by these two talented musicians??? Let's see what you can do.

  • @rinceresource

boy do i agree with you. V. Eschkenazy is a great violinist...have you heard his other performances....breathtaking...

  • @flyurway r u a concertmaster?

  • Is that a legitimate question or just a little sarcasm?

  • legitimate, are you?

  • Oh, no. I'm just a Joe that's been around music to some degree for my whole life. I'm no expert on anything but I know what I like. And I usually know a mistake when I hear it, God knows, I make enough myself. I'm getting my ass torn here over a little criticism - oh the pain. I never said they sucked, in fact I think they sound quite good but you have to admit, if you don't hear a whole lot of mistakes here you're not listening.

  • @flyurway my eldest brother is a music professor in a college in los angeles and his instrument if the piano and my middle brother was a concertmaster for about 10 years ago when he was young and he listenend and said that he did not hear a whole lot of mistakes with the violinist or the pianist. but as i thought about the conversation here, i realized that most people listen for enjoyment, not to find fault.

  • the best verson on youtube even best i ever heard totaly

  • i agree with you.

  • haha :D

  • i agree with you, the violist played very impressively, additionally, there was no cough, What a record !

  • my best piece at all times, really cant get enough

  • This piece is so cool!

  • thats how its shuld sound

  • God, I love this piece.

  • It must be terrifying for those two to stand in front of such a big audience and perform this magnificent piece. Such a marvelous performance. Bravo.

  • Angelov won an 'honourable mention' at the 1985 Chopin Piano competition, which is not quite one of the main prizes but it nevertheless a high honour. His world class solo technique shows here. The violinist too must be in an equivalent league if not even better!

  • Fenomenal !!!!

    Me encanta.

    Realmente mucha emoción.

  • Beautifully played, and magnificently performed. Great job.

  • damn, that's some good shit right there!!

  • Very nice play!

  • the girl page turner is beautiful:)

  • i noticed that too!

  • Beautiful.

  • absolutely beautiful

  • BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • EFTELING!! EFTELING!!!! DIKKE SHIT

  • De efteling heeft dit gebruikt, maar het is niet gecomponeerd door de efteling...

  • i see a lot of Shlomo mintz technique in this violin player, very alike face gestures and charm while he plays, fantastic interpretation i enjoyed it a lot.

  • @molecram whats a shlomo mintz technique?

  • music truly does have a taste of codfish, that was fantastic, i enjoyed it every much

  • I smell Death in the violin solo, and Yeah, the violin solo pard is supposed to be heard scary coz it was played by a devil who was summoning ghosts and skeletons. I like this one more than other versoins I had heard before!

  • That was great. What a big smile I have. I would have pushed the five stars over and over it I could have.

  • Absolutely brilliant!!!

  • This is phenomenal!

Great musical interpretation and fantastic playing. Great technique, emotion, etc.

    Simply amazing.

  • Fantastic~!so powerfull!

    Lot of emotions !

    Jonah

  • wooooooow!!!! =O

  • what a performance

  • whta's the full name of the pianist?

  • @Xpector2001 Ludmil Angelov

  • @Xpector2001 vladimir ashkenazi (not sure of the spelling though)

  • they're both superb - SUPERB - i found this by accident - my lucky day - i like this far better than any orchestral recording - they're both so full of life - or is it death? - thanks for posting

  • Fantastic performance, I really adore this clip. They should record this wonderful piece! Vesko is such a good violinist. I'm happy he's the concertmaster here in Amsterdam!

  • Amazing for only one violin and one piano

  • Hard to believe that it's only 2 musicians making that enormous, moving sound.

  • 5:24 pause it, and he looks stoned out of his pants

  • but don't get me wrong, he plays so extremeley well.

  • well i gues he always looks like that, but its that part i like the most which is why i chose it

  • That's ecstasy, that is.

  • beautiful

  • butiful piece of work!

  • Gorgeous!

  • dont need the whole orchestra to play this so great! ;o

  • cest magnifique!

  • Difficult to find enough words for this great performance! Just fantastic!
