I just discovered your videos as a recommendation of one of my friends. I think you have done a marvelous job relating your story and how you came to where you are right now. This is very courageous and inspiring and I am sure this will help many people to re-think their beliefs and break the invisible chains that bind them. You come across as a very honest and peaceful person. Good luck!
My experience is different from yours because it wasn't a decision for me as you tell it was for you....but rather a revelation from what happened in my life...
There a lot of things you need to know if you really want to please God.William Branham God prophet for this day reveal God's word please visit my channel.or search William Branham and find out more
When I was in college I fell in love for the first time with a Pentecostal friend. I followed him to his church and saw people speaking in tongues. I was immediately suspicious that they were being dishonest. I can't understand how people can delude themselves in this way. I also don't understand the use of a language that no one speaks. It seems to me like a groupthink occurrence. As an atheist now, how do you explain you speaking in tongues at the time? Maybe that comes in a later video.
God bless your souls who are ignorant and ignore the lord and god, when you die you shall figure out the real truth and than you'll have to deal with something more worse than your nightmares for eternity AKA hell. I suggest you watch LIFE AFTER LIFE documentary.
@TJLEGENDKILLER Alternately, you could be surprised when you die and realise there's something different to what you expected, and you've spent your whole life being afraid of going to somewhere that doesn't exist. Just something to think about.
@XdainishX First of all, i am not afraid of death and where would you go when you die then? i highly doubt you would become born again in another persons body without any knowledge of your past life, we all know earth isnt going to last much long, human beings have be fucking up the world with wars and other pointless issues since we were first born. Watch life after life, its a goood interesting documentry
@XdainishX Correct me if I am wrong, but It sounds like you are saying that we Christians live our lives in fear of going to Hell. But the best part is, that is not at all what it is about! Because of Christ, we no longer have to fear death because He defeated sin! My faith in Him ensures that my name will be written in the book of life, that I may spend eternity with Him!
People who attend church think they are Christians. Some like this YouTuber makes a video of himself and professes he was a devout Christian. But putting aside religion and looking at this purely from the logical reasoning point of view, YouTuber along with delusional people are churchians, not Christians. For example, if I visit a hospital weekly basis does this make me a doctor? If I sit in my garage, does this make me a car? I was a Christian is an oxymoron. I was a doctor is an oxymoron.
Welcome to reality, please leave everything you learned from church at the door step. You will be retaught Christianity through what is called Real Life!
I'd say about 80% of Christians are exactly like that! The Bible wasn't written from Christian bubbles but from God believing people who had their faith brutalized. Those verses were enscribed from people walking out of the firey amber of life! To be a true Christian, it is hard.
@mevidek oh, and I forgot ... read the final chapter revelation. Afterwards, try to imagine a person or government commiting such mass scale genocide and torture. Would you still call it "instrisically good" because it came from god? ... sounds more like "might makes right" to me, completely in line with the warlord-style of thinking in that time.
Manmade fear and control mechanisms, nothing to do with any sense of good or morality.
@mevidek Then what the flying hell were you asking that question for to begin with ? You don't believe in the book of Revelation because you don't like what's in it, so why would you ask what verse shows Jesus doing bad things, since you're just gonna disbelieve it anyway because you don't like it ? Get real will you.
@mevidek I'm an atheist. I don't believe in any of the bible. The thing is, YOU believe in the christian god apparently. So your belief wouldn't exist without the bible. Without it you'd believe in something else entirely, or nothing at all. So you believe the bible to be the word of god and whatnot. But you don't mind ignoring the parts you don't like. I'm not offended, simply impressed at how much people can ignore logic and reason in order to justify their beliefs.
@gilless429 No, I don't believe the Bible to be the word of God. I believe it to be an adaptation of what God has taught us to do, and how to live life. I believe lots of the Bible, but just not in the form they're presented in. For example, I believe that evolution, the big bang and science is all true - Genesis is just a massive oversimplification.
@mevidek If you think it's an adaptation, how exactly do you decide which parts god wants you to agree with ? It goes down to what your own set of principles on how to live life are, doesn't it ? You read the stuff in the bible and accept what you already accepted anyway because your own set of standards is already of that opinion.
Or do you claim to be capable of deciding how a god you do not know anything of, except what comes from a certain book, really meant for you to understand said book ?
@gilless429 Because I'm a rational person that scrutinizes everything I read. I try to find the bits that make sense to me and I see them as what God really wants.
@gilless429 Atheist don't "disbelieve" the Bible because they don't like the content. This is the equivalent of saying "I don't believe my medical results because I don't like them". We simply see no compelling reason or evidence to believe the Bible's content. This is like me accusing you of not believing in unicorns because you don't like unicorns. Although the Bible does mention unicorns several times so I guess you believe in them.
@jisaid08 Huh... What the fuck ? I'm an atheist. I was talking to a christian who believes in the christian god but only in the parts of the bible he likes. Your usual theistic cherry-picking.
I don't hold it against you, it happens, but you could check who is what side of the argument before simply answering next time...
Please accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today, be ready for His second coming. We are living in the last days and the Lord Jesus is coming very soon. I plead with everyone who has not yet accepted Him as their Lord and Saviour. Please do it as soon as possible. May God give you understanding and bless you, in Jesus' name. Amen
As someone who was raised without any religion and was left to make up my own mind (didn't even discuss religion or god with my parents), this series was amazing and a incredible insight into how educated people approach their religion and, eventually, lose it. As the world slowly becomes more and more educated and the pursuit of education is held in even higher regards than it is now, religion will slowly fade away and we'll just live as good people with no excuses to be otherwise.
''.... religion will slowly fade away and we'll just live as good people with no excuses to be otherwise.''
This last line makes it sound as if if religion went then we would all be good people with ''no excuse to be otherwise'' even though the 20th century was a century of secular wars mainly. Also what makes that likely? What if someone doesn't believe in a transcendent moral agent, and kills someone and says he done it because it was a Monday? Why is that actually wrong?
@TheKap1an If someone does something wrong in the name of god, to them, it can't be wrong and is inherently good. If a Islamic extremest blows himself up in the name of Allah, then in his mind he is the good guy, as he uses his faith as an excuse to do bad things. In a secular world, if someone does something bad, then it is because they are a bad person, as it is their own choice to do the bad things through jealousy or greed (for example). They don't have a book or god "making" them do it.
My point being, who are we to call someone bad if they do something that they themselves perfectly justify to themselves? Are they bad because we rate them according to our selves or some sort of status quo in the society? What if greed or jealousy is a good thing according to them? Who are we to say no? This is my question.
@TheKap1an Its the same way people can oppose gay marriage by holding up their bible, when all they're really doing is using their bible as a way of hiding and even justifying their homophobia and bigoted views.
This series is such a masterpiece and so brilliant. As someone who isn't usually interested in religion, I really appreciate this for informing me of his mindset as he transitioned. Not only is it fascinating, but it allowed me to view the 'other-side'. I learnt a lot about what ethics actually means and how belief systems work from this series. Thank you.
I'm really impressed by watching your documentary.
I was born in a very pious and fundamentalist christian environment - I also spoke in tongues as a pentecostal in church, my whole family has been in a mix of baptist/neo-pentecostal reality for generations. But since my twenties (I'm 38 now) I started a mental/reasoning process much like the one you went through. It took me years as well, and I know it's still in progress.
I don't believe in a personal god now because I just don't see any reason for simply believing in it. I say it's painful because of the deep loneliness it has caused me to feel, and does to this day; not only because god is dead for me, but also due to the whole christian environment (i.e., church and family) in which I used to be confined by ages.
My whole conceptual and emotional universe collapsed, but there was no escaping it, for the honest search for reasonable truth is part of my character, and that's the way my mind works. I couldn't step back even if I wanted to. It's not a matter of choice, that's the way I am.
But now, on seeing the personal life experience of yours, I feel a little more confortable by realizing there are other people who experienced quite what I went through. I don't feel so much loneliness anymore. Incredible enough, there are people in the other side of the world who can understand... Greetings from Brazil.
@ItsSoMe2011 I think it's unfair to say that someone without God doesn't care about morals or hurting people. I grew up in a religious small town, where anyone who wasn't a churchgoer was shunned by the community and refused help or kind treatment from those members, whereas most of my atheist friends are active community members who contribute time, energy, and money into charity and improving their world for everyone. God isn't necessary to be a good person. Wanting to be a good person is.
And when I say, a person of God will have tender hearts, that means, they have to actually follow the Bible, and not their own desires (corrupted religion). This is the mistake many make, where they get confused, in thinking they can alter God's rules, and apply their own, which will only cause corrupted religion (man made). If a person who is truly committed to God's words, there will be no need to follow their own. Therefore, that person can RECEIVE God, into their lives, and change.
I will be praying for God to soften your heart @AetheraSora. You do not wish to see things from any other viewpoint than the one you currently have. For the record, what you call "twisting" the Word of God, we call "understanding the context of the scriptures, the culture of the audience and the context of the time period". It does not change what the Bible means, but it lets us understand what the writers were trying to say, which may not be exactly the same as what it seems at face value.
Atheists are saying, through supposed 'fact', they don't believe. The fact of who. Men? Who have never actually proved God doesn't exist, therefore, it isn't fact. There have been 'facts' of miracles, things that 'can't' be explained by men, therefore, there is more proof of God existing, and no proof of Him not existing.
The only true preaching is Christianity, for a fact. I know, not just by my experiences, and it also mentions, 'there will be false prophets'. So, we have to be careful what we learn, does it feel right? When a person follows God and he's connected to Him, then a person will aim to do no wrong.
@ItsSoMe2011 We kind of misunderstood on the point I was trying to make about sin. The general point is that one comes to God after we are conscious that we are sinners and that is my personal experience. That doesnt mean we wont sin after becoming a christian but when we do we are troubled by God spirit and we repent. If we dont and keep on sinning and are hardened then chances are that God is not with us to begin with and it is scriptural.look up paul washer sermon on the jam
@yoyo4085 You absolutely right. But, God can change our hearts, "And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart." (Ezekial 36:26) A person without God, won't care about morals, what they are doing, or how they are hurting people, because their hearts are 'stony', metaphorically. A man/woman of God, will have tender hearts..
I doubt if you were a real christian because you said you came to Christ as a little boy when someone told you to come and accept christ. But a true christian accepts christ after he has been convicted by the holyspirit for his sins. It is after this that one see the love of Christ. Real chrisitianity comes after long hours of suffering and depression after a person through the work of the spirit truly sees how he is? A sinful human being destined for hell
@yoyo4085 Your right, about Christians suffering, and being blamed/persecuted. But that comes through the sacrifice, to decide to follow Jesus. Look what Jesus went through for us? How can we turn our backs on Him? We all sin, yes, but if we TRY to stop doing all that's bad, God will take notice of you.
@ItsSoMe2011 LMFAO, God's words come before man. God speaks in a language that wasn't even around during the beginning of man and yet your whole life is revolved around the interpretation of Gods words through MAN. You're so insane it's almost cute, in a pitiful hurt, slow puppy sort of way.
@AetheraSora I am telling you. It's the truth. The atheists will come 'in great numbers', only hearing words of men, and not words of God. Men are cruel, calculated, selfish, greedy, lovers of sin...God preaches against us being this way. Atheists are going to look elsewhere, because they don't want to stop sinnning. It's too hard for them, so it's better for them to ignore doing what's right. They don't believe, because they don't know God. They don't know God, because they don't look.
@AetheraSora No. Men of 'God' wrote the Bible, that makes a huge difference. If God is working inside another, generally Prophets, then the information is from God. When Jesus was on earth, everything was documented too. Was Jesus a man on earth? Yes! But that didn't make Him less Holy, because He was the son of God. ;')
@ItsSoMe2011 So thanks for wrapping it back around God IS the one who spouted all of that hate, misogyny, bigotry, racism, pedophilia, etc. Good to know.
@AetheraSora Where did you pull that from? @itsSoMe2011 did not say that at all so either you extrapolated it from what he did say or you just made a random connection that I didn't see. If you could explain your thought process so that I can understand what you mean that would be greatly appreciated!
@ksten17 What I mean by what exactly? My last comment? It's not a terribly hard concept to grasp. The bible is full of hate, misogyny, bigotry, racism and pedophilia. Either it's the words of men, or the words of God through men. Apparently it's God. Good. To. Know.
@AetheraSora That's not what I meant. I am fully aware of what you think the Bible is, I just didn't see how you are connecting that to what @ItsSoMe2011 said, but now i understand. The problem is that just because the Word of God addresses things like hate, misogyny, bigotry, racism and pedophilia doesn't mean that our God is a God of hate misogyny, bigotry, racism and pedophilia. However, those are REAL ISSUES, and what good wood the Bible be if it did not address those issues?
@ksten17 No, not addresses. completely and disgustingly supports. I'm not going through the hundreds of verses you can't debunk. I read things for what they are, I don't try to find ten thousand ways maybe skew it differently or see into the intentions of words.
Don't you understand the simple words form the Bible? That was written by prophets before any of these 'false teachings' from man. This is from the Bible. And I am guessing it will be deleted by an atheist:
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." (Timothy 4:3)
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (Corinthians 4:18)
"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." (Proverbs, 21:13)
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." (Timothy 4:3)
Evidence of science doesn't prove there isn't a God. And just because they make up theories about Him not existing, doesn't make that true either. I just it's a case of 'you believe, or not'. There has been too many things happen in my life which makes it impossible to say He doesn't exist. God doesn't like being tested, so if someone is 'testing God' on His existence, nothing will happen. It has to come from your heart, prayer. ;')
(cont) "But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep." (Peter 2:1-13)
I'm not saying that science isn't true, but it doesn't rule out God from existing. People make up theories that are false, to try and say God doesn't exist, and it even mentions this in the Bible. The devil does not want you to be saved by Jesus, so he will steer you away from knowing the real truth to confuse you. Read this passage please, and understand...(cont)
These are myths of the world - the devil's lies, to confuse, and turn people away from the Bible, the truth. We have to seek the truth, and God to understand! "Evil men do not seek justice; but those who seek the Lord, understand all". (Proverbs 28:5) Don't look for answers elsewhere, it's only a trap to turn you away from the truth. Don't be fooled.
It is impossible my friend for a person to be truly born again and then become an atheist. If you have seen the glory of God how can you deny it? The answer is you cannot deny it. You are not only lying but you are lying to yourself. If you have not seen the glory of God working in your life, you have not been born again, simple as that.
@pawl55 I thought I felt God and Jesus too and I am now an Atheist. It is possible and it does happen. It is all metaphysical nonsense and as soon as one sees that the better off they are. It appears as you want him to be lying so you can pass him off using the "no true scottsman" fallacy.
@ExMormon66 Trust me, no one is better off without Jesus, that's a tool of the devil to make you think it is. How can we forget, there is an afterlife? Because, the devil will try many ways, to disencourage, corrupt the truth, confuse...it has become more prominent recently over the years, because the end days are getting nearer, so the devil is quickly taking souls for its keeping. The only brainwashing comes from this world, full of lies and deceit, greed, injustice, evil...
@ItsSoMe2011 Please tell the millions killed in witch hunts, crusades, reformations, inquisitions and the like that life was better with Jesus, because with the belief of Jesus many people found the very justification needed to slaughter others. Ignorant buffoon.
@AetheraSora Maybe I can provide some info. If you continue to read the passage that @max2right mentioned about the slaughterings that God commanded, you will see that He gives reasoning. In Ezekiel 9:8-9, Ezekiel cries out asking God if He plans on killing everyone of the Jews. God responds by explaining how terrible the sin is in Israel. Now, understand that God is sovereign, which means he cannot sin and He cannot be around sin. So if He was to is to live in Israel, they must obey Him
@AetheraSora Sorry it has taken me so long to respond but there is a lot to read on that site. Even now i am not finished but I will sometime. It just makes me so sad to read it and see how people are twisting the word of God so blatantly. Sure, they quote the Bible, but the quotes are out of context and make the writer seem extremely uneducated. Not to say that he (or she) is not an intelligent person but they clearly make no effort to understand the biblical context or the
@AetheraSora cultural background that is necessary to understand the passages. These arguments are all the same and few of them really deserve any effort at a rebuttal because they are so uneducated. Understand that women back then had no say in who they married ever, in any culture, not just the Jewish women. Understand that the Israelite often disobeyed God and kept women when they weren't supposed to. Understand that God is sovereign and cannot be around sin so removing that sin
@AetheraSora from Israel was necessary. There are so many things that you have to understand before you can understand the text in the Bible. Any one of those arguments can be explained quite simply so i encourage you to look into some old testament background and read the passages again (as a whole, not just just one passage time) and look with an open mind. If you have a problem with any specific verses just let me know I will try to respond.
@AetheraSora I don't need to waste my time looking up more verses. I already provided you with hundreds and you gave me a typical response. The only rebuttal you could form was some preconceived, ill formed opinion that the scriptures were read from uneducated people? That's hilarious. You don't know what I or anyone else knows and you couldn't even take ONE verse and apply all this knowledge you think you have to it. Very much the response I expected from a Christian. Thank you.
@AetheraSora The reason why, is because preachings elsewhere, from man, are theories, not truth. God's words were there from the beginning, man's was not. We need to understand, man is not higher than God. Man did not create God. The things that are seen are temporary, and the unseen is eternal. These words are true. But we must accept them! It's just a matter of realising, this world isn't what it seems.
@AetheraSora Actually I tried to be perfectly clear that I did not think that the people who picked out those verses were uneducated. So that certainly was not my only rebuttal and in fact it was not one I used at all. I'll pick a few verses and explain them. And I am sorry that I worded my last post in a way that made it seem I thought you were uneducated, that was not my intention. Along with that, I think it may have appeared that I am claiming to have infinite biblical wisdom
Anyway, down to business. The first passage quoted in the Ritual Human Sacrifice section is pulled from Judges 11:29-40.In it it Jephthah promises to sacrifice the first thing that walks through his door if God gives him a victory in this war. This was meant as an act of devotion, creating a covenant with God, however it was really a demonstration of his lack of faith that God would be with him regardless of what he offered. He also should have
@AetheraSora been aware that human sacrifices are forbidden by Mosaic law (lev. 18:21, deut 12:31). So he either meant to really make a point that he was serious or he just thought it didn't really matter since the people around the Israelites did sacrifice humans to their gods. Keep in mind that the Book of Judges is primarily about Israel's relationship with God. Jephthah is ignorant enough to a) not trust God to protect His people, and b) offer Him something he detests as
@AetheraSora a "payment" for His "services." This shows the state Israel was in. The next part of the story is where God does come through and Jephthah is required to do as he promised. It seems from the story that he was not pleased that his daughter was the required sacrifice, nor does he seem to have expected it. The text says that he went through with the sacrifice, after his daughter had a period to mourn. There is speculation that it may have been a symbolic sacrifice, but I
@AetheraSora personally think that it is clear that he literally sacrificed her because breaking a (stupidly made) vow to God would bring about worse consequences to the people of Israel than sacrificing a human. It goes to show how far Israel had drifted from God.
all the comments here are just so smart and great and indisputable and i read all of them and everyone made excellent points and i wish everyone was as smart as all the commentators here
@eilier Christianity is the way, atheism is the plague. The devil likes to twist things, to make people agree with evil. "Evil people do not seek justice; but those who seek the Lord, understand all". (Proverbs 28:5) The world is has no justice. How can following good be something bad? The devil will only think it is, because it is evil. So, if you are thinking the same, you must be evil.
Unfortuntly, the devil has it's own demons, just like God has His angels. There is good AND bad, but the bad sometimes overtakes, because not enough people fight against evil. They go along with it, because they think it's the norm, society. The devil is working it's way, 'slowly', but surely. We see over the decades, everything is going 'backward', not forward! It's because, people have lost Jesus, therefore, have lost the light of this world, which is now dark. ;'(
@ExMormon66 "Get out of the brain washing machine" (response) Now how can this be brainwashing? "Depart from evil. Go away from it. Not merely take your hands off, but yourself off. Live not near the pest house. Avoid the lion's lair, leave the viper's nest. Set a distance between yourself and temptation. And do good." (Psalms 34;14) It says to do good, and your telling me I am brainwashed because I am a Christian, and try to follow good?? I'm sorry, that makes no sense to me.
@ItsSoMe2011 I also love how hypocritical you Christians are. Ignore when you can't provide answers, but then shame those who refuse to believe in anything without answers. Why didn't you answer max2right? Afraid that you can't explain some of the evil that is written in the bible? How the "all loving" BS of a god you try to peddle on people justifies things like rape and murder. The bible is nothing but a tool created and rewritten dozens of times to control. You are very much controlled.
@AetheraSora@max2right or pay the consequences. God was not just slaughtering the people to slaughter people, He was purging HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE of all of the immorality and sin that was among them. We see in verse 4 of that chapter that He had already commanded the judges of Israel at that time to go and mark each person who was upset with the sin in the land, all of those who did not condone it, and those were the lives he spared. Hope this explanation helps :) I'll be praying for you guys:)
This is Deuteronomy 22:28-29 - "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." Quoted in the Bible, God is NOT approving here. God is saying, that man will have NO CHOICE himself, for he has violated her, and must stay with her for as long as he lives, as a punishment. Read well!
Watched a program on the BBC this morning. They stated the the Church of England's assets amount to £ 5 billion. This sum is nothing compared to what the Vatican owns. The Greek is also loaded. Surely all this money could go a long way to solving the worlds financial problems.
@larspallesen I've heard, and still believe. The thing that upsets me, is how people are so swayed to what is unimportant, and what goes on in the world, it's sad and evil, but people put up with it! It's not the way to be. We need to fight back against evil forces, the only way to do this is through our Lord, Jesus Christ! Don't let the devil take away your glory, peace and joy in your life, amen!
Revelation 13:18 "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
Remember, we need to look more of the new testament (when Jesus preaches), because the Old is a lot to do with history, and sometimes, other people speaking and not necessarily God. In the new testament (the Bible I have) highlights what words are spoken by Jesus in red writing...
Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:13-14)
Jesus indicated that people who enter heaven are like children, implying that children go to heaven.
And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:2-3)
@Mirewood What Christians are you talking to? WE ALL ARE SINNERS! Just because we say we are Christians, we are not perfect, but we AIM to stray from sin, whereas, the average person who lives in the world will not, because they believe what they are doing is 'fun' or 'right', which it clearly is not. God will NOT punish us if we have done something wrong without knowing its wrong. God knows our hearts!! If we choose to IGNORE, that another story. A&E were WARNED by God, but they disobeyed
@Mirewood All children go to heaven anyway. When we get older, we understand and are more 'aware' than children. This is why, Jesus then will only turn to us when we turn to Him. It's because, He gave us free will! To be child-like is not necessarily to be as naive as a child, innocent, but not naive. When still understand what it means to obey and disobey, don't we?
@Mirewood No, it's not a bad thing. But learning to do things that are wrong, and for society to accept THAT is right, then ultimately this is wrong altogether. If something goes against our morals from the origination of our child-like sense of being, then it is wrong, full stop. If we become conditioned by society to follow bad behavior, there will be a point of satisfaction where we have no choice but to accept (the devil breaking down our barriers from what is right),...
@Mirewood BECAUSE THEY SINNED---THEY WERE PUNISHED! Like everything in life, if we do something 'wrong', it will always come back to bite us back in the buttocks! We have to realize, we cant do things 'our' way and be happy. We constantly have to fight things of the flesh to be more connected spiritually, so we can be joyful. We are spiritual beings! The flesh will decay when we die, but the spirit lives on. Is that so hard for some people to comprehend?
@Mirewood If you don't see the evil in the world, then i'm sorry to say, you are blinded (in a spiritual sense) so that what you see you are conditioned to think it's 'normal'. Don't be ignorant, because we are born naturally not to be, but as we get older, we follow our 'minds', in what we have learnt, believed in life, but, then, losing touch with our spiritual selves. Why do you think it says in the Bible to 'be like a child' to enter heaven? We must be 'childlike'...
@Mirewood I don't like using the word religion, but a way of life! The devil will try everything in its power, to confuse people through 'religion', and the word itself. But, when you have Jesus's light inside you, there is no 'religion', but a peaceful, friendly, loving lifestyle. Obviously, we will still be sinners, but attempting at least to stray from sin, we get closer to the 'light', which is Jesus. By doing so, we see the world for what it really is. Dark, and controlled by evil...
Is it too late to turn to Jesus? Never! Because He will forgive us time and time again, as long as we confess our sins, we show we are humble. In doing so, we accept we are sinners, and we will follow Jesus who teaches us to stray from sin, through His Holy words and preaching, then we are able to enter the light with Him. Please, check my video...thank you, God Bless.
@ItsSoMe2011 So one that rapes and kills one or even many children can eventually find jesus and go to a paradise while one who lives a life doing good for his community without a belief in the supernatural will be tortured forever. That’s immoral nonsense.

@Mirewood No, there isn't because '1 in 7 churches are correct', meaning, most, unfortunately, follow their emotions, which causes religion! However, when we use 'intelligence, love and faith combined', this is the true key for being a true christian. We all must remember, Christians are also sinners, just like anyone else, because we are still human! But, we can follow Jesus's footsteps, which will lead us to salvation.
@Mirewood Its so sad to see people being converted out of the christian life - exactly what the devils wants, to have no communion with our Lord. I pray that these people will have God in their life again, because without God, we are truly miserable inside and feel empty. True, there can be deceit and lies within a church, but that shouldn't put people off finding the RIGHT church, who can then be close to God! Don't let the devil fill your head with lies 'there is no God' its not true!

All people have the right to believe what makes them happy.
Atheists: stop slamming Christians if you hate it when they slam you. You will never get respect for your beliefs if you have no respect for others. Don't believe all Christians are closeminded. I know plenty of great Christians and I'm an atheist.
Christians: Love you neighbor. Using fear of damnation and 'pitying +their sad godless lives is not a good conversion tool. Love is more effective. Try it.
@Donyaeshurn The abrahamic religions are the most evil and dangerous organizations on earth. At their core they are death cults glorifying the destruction of the earth and death of all the don’t believe as the do as well as their own death as an exit from the perceived miserable existence into a paradise. It’s a dangerous insanity that deserves ridicule not respect. Tthe world would be a safer place if there were no religion in it.
@max2right Yes, RELIGION itself can turn nasty, when people use EMOTIONAL FAITH! Our 'emotions' can get in the way of doing things in a 'logical' way. Therefore, we must have 'intelligence''love' and 'faith' combined to live a good Holy life with Jesus. The emotions can be an enemy to God, because it 'goes against 'logic'. Our logic tells us already, it's wrong to kill. But, if someone is 'religious', they get angry because someone doesn't agree with their faith etc. God is peace!
@ItsSoMe2011 I notice that you have not responded to my comment on why one that commits vile crimes then finds jesus can go to paradise while one that doesn’t commit such crimes but doesn’t believe in this supernatural being and does good things will be condemned. I also cited references of this god approving of rape which you have ignored. The base of Abrahamic religions glorifies death and the destruction of the planet. It's the religious holy books that promote such insanity.. .
@max2right THAT IS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT APPROVE OF RAPE! How can God approve of rape. In the Bible, (if you read it) only preaches what is good (Jesus' words). The Old Testament in the Bible mentions things of HISTORY (combined with God's words), not all based on what God said, but what MEN believed at the time, that until when Jesus arrived - in A.C (after Christ is new testament), which is why He came to correct the sinful nature of man. Do you understand now?
@ItsSoMe2011 Is the bible the word of god? 2 Samuel 12:11-14 Thus says the Lord: 'I will bring evil upon you out of your own house. I will take your wives while you live to see it, and will give them to your neighbor. He shall lie with your wives in broad daylight. Is the bible wrong here? Where did this god condemn all the rape in the bible?
@max2right It is not saying that at all. It is consented if anything, and a punishment of some sort, possibly because of this person may have done something bad, and not repented. It still doesn't back up your point, there is no mention of rape.
@ItsSoMe2011 Lo, a day shall come for the Lord when the spoils shall be divided in your midst. And I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle: the city shall be taken, houses plundered, women ravished; half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be removed from the city. (Zechariah 14:1-2 NAB)
Would you like to be "ravished" by a stranger? What do you think that word means.
@max2right God is not condoning rape, but is more predicting what MEN will do; not God Himself. This is what some people get confused with. God knows what will happen before it happens.
@ItsSoMe2011 Samuel 12:11-14 is quoiting the lord. It clearly says “Thus says the lord” and goes on to say I (the lord) will take your wives and give them to neighbors to lie with.” Do you think that means these women went willingly with a neighbor to take an afternoon nap? It’s the lord forcing women to have sex with these neighbors. If that isn’t rape what is?
What would Jesus do? He'd roll over in his grave at what the Christ myth & Christianity and the New Testament did to his Jewish person, Jewish faith, Jewish scriptures and Jewish God.
The quickest, most honest way to become an ex-Christian is to study the Bible: honestly, critically and seriously. Including how the NT and Christianity rape the Hebrew scriptures to rescue a failed & dead Jewish messiah and invent a Christian one. Including the creation of fictitious NT "fulfillment story."
@TheFireaxx Consider that however impossible that might seem to you, it would seem just as absolutely impossible to a Muslim that someone could lose their relationship with Allah.
This reminds me so much of how I grew up, though it was Nazarene. I was in something called Caravan, which was a mixing of both boys and girls scouts.
You grew up in a holy roller, Pentecostal church that you were "scared" of? Kids are not scared of God. You were scared because you saw the excesses there.
Sorry, but you opened yourself up to a demonic spirit, not the Holy Spirit when you were supposedly "baptized in the Holy Spirit". No one who gets filled with the true Spirit of God "forgets" what happens or what they were feeling.
You grew up in a holy roller, Pentecostal church that you were "scared" of? Kids are not scared of God.
The bible is the only way to know God. For a greater understanding of His true nature I found the following scriptures especially helpful: Zechariah 14: 1-2, Deuteronomy 22:28-2, Numbers 31:17-18, Leviticus 25: 44-46, Exodus 21:7, Exodus 21: 20-21, 1 Peter 2:18, Jeremiah 19: 9
If you say that the Bible God is real, and that by reading the Bible you learn to understand him, than how come you can't explain the verse Yankyal1 asked you about?
@max2right Its so sad to see people being converted out of the christian life - exactly what the devils wants, to have no communion with our Lord. @ItsSoMe2011 Cheer up! I have a good and fulfilling life with no belief in an imaginary and evil supernatural daddy, for which there is no evidence. One reason people are abandoning religion is because the see the immorality the evil and hypocrisy in it, all of it. As Thomas Jefferson said “"Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies. History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government
@max2right there shouldn't be hypocrisy, in the Bible it says 'You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye'. If we follow the Bible correctly, we see its not 'God' who is wrong, but how people interpret and apply these things to their life! We have to do it in a way that 'makes sense', do you know what I mean? Evidence with testimonies of course! It glorifies God's name! Amen!
@ItsSoMe2011 An example of the hypocrisy in the bible. First, there is a a commandment not to kill then another saying if one works on Sunday they should be killed. You don’t kill those that work on Sunday do you? So are you following the bible?
@max2right Thou shall not murder is one of the commandments. When Jesus came, He preached to us truth and love. A world without law is a world of chaos! If one does good works on a Sunday, it is okay. It just means, yes, if we disobey God, He will punish us. Just like a dad punishes his child for disobedience. It's similar, but God is stricter. Jesus died for us, for our chance of salvation! And Jesus will forgive us, if we repent! He has so much love for us!
@ItsSoMe2011 You didn't address my comment. If one rapes, kills, robs and then finds jesus he goes to a paradise whille one that lives a life doing none those things and infact does good thaings without believing in the supernatural is sent to everlasting torture. That just doesn't make sense
@max2right Nowhere does 'God' say to rape. It is a misinterpretation, as always it is concerning the Bible. Rape is NOT a good thing, therefore it is NOT from God. Doesn't that make sense to you?
Thus says the Lord: 'I will bring evil upon you out of your own house. I will take your wives while you live to see it, and will give them to your neighbor. He shall lie with your wives in broad daylight. You have done this deed in secret, but I will bring it about in the presence of all Israel, and with the sun looking down.'

@XdainishX Correct me if I am wrong, but It sounds like you are saying that we Christians live our lives in fear of going to Hell. But the best part is, that is not at all what it is about!

I'd say about 80% of Christians are exactly like that! The Bible wasn't written from Christian bubbles but from God believing people who had their faith brutalized. Those verses were enscribed from people walking out of the firey amber of life! To be a true Christian, it is hard.

mevidek 2 weeks ago
@mevidek I'm an atheist. I don't believe in any of the bible. The thing is, YOU believe in the christian god apparently. So your belief wouldn't exist without the bible. Without it you'd believe in something else entirely, or nothing at all. So you believe the bible to be the word of god and whatnot. But you don't mind ignoring the parts you don't like. I'm not offended, simply impressed at how much people can ignore logic and reason in order to justify their beliefs.
gilless429 2 weeks ago
@gilless429 No, I don't believe the Bible to be the word of God. I believe it to be an adaptation of what God has taught us to do, and how to live life. I believe lots of the Bible, but just not in the form they're presented in. For example, I believe that evolution, the big bang and science is all true - Genesis is just a massive oversimplification.
mevidek 2 weeks ago 2
@mevidek If you think it's an adaptation, how exactly do you decide which parts god wants you to agree with ? It goes down to what your own set of principles on how to live life are, doesn't it ? You read the stuff in the bible and accept what you already accepted anyway because your own set of standards is already of that opinion.
Or do you claim to be capable of deciding how a god you do not know anything of, except what comes from a certain book, really meant for you to understand said book ?
gilless429 2 weeks ago
@gilless429 Because I'm a rational person that scrutinizes everything I read. I try to find the bits that make sense to me and I see them as what God really wants.

@gilless429 Atheist don't "disbelieve" the Bible because they don't like the content. This is the equivalent of saying "I don't believe my medical results because I don't like them". Although the Bible does mention unicorns several times so I guess you believe in them.

OshiSeven 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian 29
@OshiSeven
''.... religion will slowly fade away and we'll just live as good people with no excuses to be otherwise.''
TheKap1an 4 weeks ago
@TheKap1an If someone does something wrong in the name of god, to them, it can't be wrong and is inherently good. If a Islamic extremest blows himself up in the name of Allah, then in his mind he is the good guy, as he uses his faith as an excuse to do bad things. In a secular world, if someone does something bad, then it is because they are a bad person, as it is their own choice to do the bad things through jealousy or greed (for example). They don't have a book or god "making" them do it.
OshiSeven 4 weeks ago
@OshiSeven
My point being, who are we to call someone bad if they do something that they themselves perfectly justify to themselves? Are they bad because we rate them according to our selves or some sort of status quo in the society? What if greed or jealousy is a good thing according to them? Who are we to say no? This is my question.

ItsSoMe2011 1 month ago
@ItsSoMe2011 We kind of misunderstood on the point I was trying to make about sin. The general point is that one comes to God after we are conscious that we are sinners and that is my personal experience. That doesnt mean we wont sin after becoming a christian but when we do we are troubled by God spirit and we repent. If we dont and keep on sinning and are hardened then chances are that God is not with us to begin with and it is scriptural.look up paul washer sermon on the jam
yoyo4085 1 month ago

A sinful human being destined for hell
yoyo4085 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian

@AetheraSora I am telling you. It's the truth. The atheists will come 'in great numbers', only hearing words of men, and not words of God. Men are cruel, calculated, selfish, greedy, lovers of sin...God preaches against us being this way. Atheists are going to look elsewhere, because they don't want to stop sinnning. It's too hard for them, so it's better for them to ignore doing what's right. They don't believe, because they don't know God. They don't know God, because they don't look.

Good. To. Know.
AetheraSora 1 month ago
@AetheraSora That's not what I meant. I am fully aware of what you think the Bible is, I just didn't see how you are connecting that to what @ItsSoMe2011 said, but now i understand. The problem is that just because the Word of God addresses things like hate, misogyny, bigotry, racism and pedophilia doesn't mean that our God is a God of hate misogyny, bigotry, racism and pedophilia. However, those are REAL ISSUES, and what good wood the Bible be if it did not address those issues?
ksten17 1 month ago

ItsSoMe2011 1 month ago

It has to come from your heart, prayer. ;')

@AetheraSora from Israel was necessary. There are so many things that you have to understand before you can understand the text in the Bible. Any one of those arguments can be explained quite simply so i encourage you to look into some old testament background and read the passages again (as a whole, not just just one passage time) and look with an open mind. If you have a problem with any specific verses just let me know I will try to respond.
ksten17 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@AetheraSora I don't need to waste my time looking up more verses. I already provided you with hundreds and you gave me a typical response. The only rebuttal you could form was some preconceived, ill formed opinion that the scriptures were read from uneducated people? That's hilarious. You don't know what I or anyone else knows and you couldn't even take ONE verse and apply all this knowledge you think you have to it. Very much the response I expected from a Christian. Thank you.
AetheraSora 1 month ago
@AetheraSora The reason why, is because preachings elsewhere, from man, are theories, not truth. God's words were there from the beginning, man's was not. We need to understand, man is not higher than God. Man did not create God. The things that are seen are temporary, and the unseen is eternal. These words are true. But we must accept them! It's just a matter of realising, this world isn't what it seems.
ItsSoMe2011 1 month ago
@AetheraSora Actually I tried to be perfectly clear that I did not think that the people who picked out those verses were uneducated. So that certainly was not my only rebuttal and in fact it was not one I used at all. I'll pick a few verses and explain them. And I am sorry that I worded my last post in a way that made it seem I thought you were uneducated, that was not my intention. Along with that, I think it may have appeared that I am claiming to have infinite biblical wisdom

@AetheraSora which is also not true.

There is speculation that it may have been a symbolic sacrifice, but I
ksten17 1 month ago in playlist Why I am no longer a Christian
@AetheraSora personally think that it is clear that he literally sacrificed her because breaking a (stupidly made) vow to God would bring about worse consequences to the people of Israel than sacrificing a human. It goes to show how far Israel had drifted from God.

It's because, people have lost Jesus, therefore, have lost the light of this world, which is now dark. ;'(

Hope this explanation helps :) I'll be praying for you guys:)

He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." Quoted in the Bible, God is NOT approving here.
ItsSoMe2011 3 months ago
@Mirewood All children go to heaven anyway. When we get older, we understand and are more 'aware' than children. This is why, Jesus then will only turn to us when we turn to Him. It's because, He gave us free will! To be child-like is not necessarily to be as naive as a child, innocent, but not naive. When still understand what it means to obey and disobey, don't we?
ItsSoMe2011 3 months ago
@Mirewood No, it's not a bad thing. But learning to do things that are wrong, and for society to accept THAT is right, then ultimately this is wrong altogether. If something goes against our morals from the origination of our child-like sense of being, then it is wrong, full stop. If we become conditioned by society to follow bad behavior, there will be a point of satisfaction where we have no choice but to accept (the devil breaking down our barriers from what is right),...
ItsSoMe2011 3 months ago
@Mirewood BECAUSE THEY SINNED---THEY WERE PUNISHED! Like everything in life, if we do something 'wrong', it will always come back to bite us back in the buttocks! We have to realize, we cant do things 'our' way and be happy. We constantly have to fight things of the flesh to be more connected spiritually, so we can be joyful. We are spiritual beings! The flesh will decay when we die, but the spirit lives on. Is that so hard for some people to comprehend?
ItsSoMe2011 3 months ago
@Mirewood If you don't see the evil in the world, then i'm sorry to say, you are blinded (in a spiritual sense) so that what you see you are conditioned to think it's 'normal'. Don't be ignorant, because we are born naturally not to be, but as we get older, we follow our 'minds', in what we have learnt, believed in life, but, then, losing touch with our spiritual selves. Why do you think it says in the Bible to 'be like a child' to enter heaven? We must be 'childlike'...
ItsSoMe2011 3 months ago
@Mirewood I don't like using the word religion, but a way of life! The devil will try everything in its power, to confuse people through 'religion', and the word itself. But, when you have Jesus's light inside you, there is no 'religion', but a peaceful, friendly, loving lifestyle. Obviously, we will still be sinners, but attempting at least to stray from sin, we get closer to the 'light', which is Jesus. By doing so, we see the world for what it really is. Dark, and controlled by evil...

Try it.

The quickest, most honest way to become an ex-Christian is to study the Bible: honestly, critically and seriously. Including how the NT and Christianity rape the Hebrew scriptures to rescue a failed & dead Jewish messiah and invent a Christian one. Including the creation of fictitious NT "fulfillment story."

Don't let the devil fill your head with lies 'there is no God' its not true!

@ItsSoMe2011 (2 Samuel 12:11-14 NAB)

@max2right 'God shows how much he hates sin, even in his own people; and wherever he finds it, he will not let it go unpunished.'
