The camera never lies: way back then we saw through Henry Winkler the humanity in The Fonz, thats why we loved him. Its been said, Henry and The Fonze are equally cool. "Happy Days" were some of the happiest of my days. He has an OBE- hope its a Knighthood next, Sir Henry..
When I first started doing celebrity interviews I contacted Mr. Winkler's manager to try to set something up. I was told he was leaving the next morning to the UK. The next morning I got a call from the airport in New York. It was Henry Winkler. He told me he was honored that I called. He told me all about his plans. He said he would love to do the show in the future. Let me tell you, that never happens in this business. What he did was way beyond the norm. He is a true gentleman.
I grew up loving him in high school. But as fate had it, I ran into him at age 51 in the Syracuse airport during a NYC snowstorm diverting all flights. He wasn't nice. My wife and I were disappointed. He's a great actor and brought much joy to many, but I've lost respect for him. Life has its disappointments.
@Categorycinque Henry was probably having a bad day and he simply wasn't in the mood to be friendly. We all have days like that. Plus, he probably gets approached constantly and has little privacy whenever he leaves his home.
Look it`s the one and only fonz government spokes person for one reverse mortage....The company thats set up to rip off the american home owner!!!!!!!

Yea, I wonder if he inspired alot of people with his Fonz character. he inspired me, mainly he was portraying a tough guy who wasn't two dimensional, it was appealing to me as a kid to see this kind of person.
I had no idea that Henry Winkler had dyslexia. I just tweeted him a story about my parents buying me a "Fonz" t-shirt back in the late 70's, and the t-shirt was misspelled "Fons". Cheap K-Mart t-shirt.
I hope he didn't think I was poking fun at his dyslexia. :(
Great actor and modest as well a true Heroe. When happy days came out every kid I knew in elementary school watched and waited for every episode. Henry Winkler and the rest of the cast influenced all of our lives in a great way.
Met Henry in 2008, he is a wonderful person in person, just as this interview did show. He is very considerate to everyone and he is very friendly. The Fonz character is a part of his whole person.
Thanks Henry for a great moment in my life, after waiting 30 years to meet you in person.....
I love how open and honest he is about his dyslexia. Henry is one of the nicest guys, if not THE nicest guy, in Hollywood. I love how fame has never seemed to go to his head, he's just as real as anyone you could meet on the street. I also love that he is a devoted family man, married for over 30 years now. That makes him pretty cool in my book! Love ya Henry!
I never knew this about Mr Winkler. I have Aspergers Disorder so I know exactly what he is talking about. Perhaps the biggest challenge I have on a daily basis however is dealing with other peoples stereotypes.
I've worked as an extra with Henry on a movie set, and he is a super cool, good-hearted guy. He talks and jokes with the extras, and there isn't a trace of ego or diva-ness with him. He's truly a down-to-earth nice guy and he's got my respect.
It has been known for decades in Hollywood that Henry Winkler and John Ritter were genuinely the nicest guys in the biz. Too bad we do not see more people like this anymore - we now are filled with self obsessed douchebags
@dragontail2k6 first of all dyslexia does not mean you can't read, it means learning to read and reading are very difficult. but on money there are numbers, and you don't need to be able to spell correctly to make a deposit or something. provided you can write your own name, there are people there who do the rest for you, atleast in any bank i've ever been to.
@SuckItLily look wikipedia. yes, yet it does. impairs a person's ability to read and decode. that means that your 100 could be a 67 for him. clear enough?
@SuckItLily This is called dyscalculia. Mr. Winkler has two learning disabilities. Dyscalculia is a learning disability involving numbers. I know b/c I have it.
