  • Do you hear that? Somebody really fu#ked this vid up trying to enhance it with DSP or the L/R channels are out of synch, something...I've never heard anything like it but it's turned a great song into the auditory equivalent of being seasick.

This sucks because I love this track and have waited 29 years to see the video; any chance someone could upload a decent version of this?

  • i love it

  • it was so nice when you tube! was you tube. now its media! sad but true. disturbing, very disturbing . every song full of media.comertials.

  • muy buen clasico

  • WE CAN ONLY SAVE OURSELVES....DAMN..DAMN..DAMN....DAMN..DAMN..BUT THATS LIFE SOMETIMES.....

  • I always felt as an American, the Fixx never got the respect of some other 80 bands...in my opinion, they were so very unique, and talented. I loved this song as well as their other music. You cannot bring up the 80's music without mentioning The Fixx!

  • @ariesscorpiorising

whilst I completely agree with you, thanks for gting the top commrnt with replying to someone nw my curiosity will get the better of me and I will endlessly search the pages of comments to find the one you responded to

  • DAMN GOOD MUSIC

  • is it just me or is the speed too slow...

  • the first time i had anal sex this song was playing.

my dad has excellent taste in music.

  • HE DONT NEED ANYBODY TO SAVE HIM

  • What dose there song mean? Save byy zero?

  • @gypsyebay it can be interpreted in many different ways, and I don't think Cy's ever said which interpretation is the most accurate (nor should he), but basically, returning to "zero" means being pushed back onto an old path (via divorce, bankruptcy, etc), so that you'll have to do it over again and (hopefully) get it right the second time.

In tarot cards, "zero" is the card of The Fool : someone with no boundaries. Going crazy (like in the video) is kind of like starting over, too.

  • only one person wasnt saved by Zero lol.

  • Remember the days of listening to this on the Sony walkman.

The youngsters would be surprised to know that we had no CDs or MP3 players.

And you could only copy music if you caught it playing on the radio or took it from the LP.

Those were the days of the one hit wonders and it was very seldom you could find an entire album that was any good.

And MTV was a cable station and not everybody had cable.

I bet MTV led to people getting cable more than anything else that was on in the eighties.

  • It is a shame the lighting is so fuzzy in this great classics. If someone would put a vid like this online now with HD, people would whine that it wasn't good enough, love the song, 4 ever

  • What the hell is up with the Phased audio?? Ugh

  • @902mpm D: ikr i can't find a decent copy of this song anywhere :<

  • I just bought a 12pk. of the new Coca Cola Zero and thought of this song....Audio sucks by the way..C-ya.

  • Saved by Zero is a favorite of mine, but Deeper and Deeper is one of my ALL TIME favorite songs!

  • 80's women had the spandex, big hair, make-up and ruled the world...what a great time to be able to get into bars.. love all of you! Come back!

  • @markboldt1 Got to admit, they looked pretty hot back then. As long as they stayed away from the Pat Benitar or Madonna look. That style looks too much like a traffic accident. Maybe Taylor Dane. That was not bad.

  • vevo suks

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs

  • I'm a hard rock guitarist but I love the 80's new wave music.

  • @EPI6fingers cool story, bro

  • Awesome song, but my favorite is one they never made a vid for: Deeper and Deeper

  • I always thought The Fixx were aussies, but just found out they are from London?? They got that same fat beardy guy here who is always in Icehouse videos!!! TeeHee!!

  • @ariesscorpiorising so did I how did that happen?

  • The eighty's kicks ass!!!!

  • i hate most 80's music. but not this.

  • these guys didn,t have a lot of hits, but imagination-wise their stuff blew away most of the 80,s bands.---also it was recorded pretty damn good!

  • i think hes drawing the album cover

  • a BIG MIDDLE FINGER TO VEVO who JAMMED A STUPID COMMERCIAL UP MY ASS WHEN ALL I WANTED TO WATCH THE GREATEST BAND EVER!!

  • i'm with murfinias on this one.

  • Obama rocks, so do the Fixx!!!!

  • I love youtube!

If i think of the words and type it in....This was the song i was singing when i got up today.......

  • I remember when everyone kept the T.V. on one Station only...... MTV

  • @234cane

ya back when "Music TV" had music....

  • man were these the days of Rock. One great song after another on the radio.

  • Listening to this song makes me feel like a kid again.

  • @ruler1978

    u do love the cock

  • @snagzappa i agree good sir

  • Wow, I didn't know Michael Bay fronted a band in the 80's before becoming a hack director.

  • Am I the only one who thinks its a bit ironic that this, a song about selling out, is now used in car commercials? Something tells me the people who chose to use this song did not understand it's true meaning.

  • @theJude1 It's about jerking off.

  • I loooove that mullet, I just love it! :-D God how I miss the 80's! This song is of magical proportions for sure! My favorite song from The Fixx! The Fixx is most certainly a fixture from the 80's! :-) This time was a time like no other. Those who lived the 80's know what I am saying here. It was a time of fun and crazy times! Super hairstyles and makeup and fashion that totally rocked the 80's and the music, oh the music, nothing like it! I sooo love the 80's! Missing it too so much! :-(

  • This video is intensely personal. I'm feeling a bit dirty having watched it.

Plus, it screwed up the wonderful images I'd already had of the song.

    Thanks MTV.

  • great music !

  • during my Metal days I thought this was weak, but the 80's sound in general was the last of something special. the is a good tune

  • I saw this video in 1983, when I was seven years old, and something about it really creeped me out. I liked the song, but I always had this vague and unpleasant memory about the video. I don't know if it was the hands reaching from the paint or when Cy smears red paint on himself. In any event, I can say that, 28 years later, it's not quite as creepy.

  • what the hell why even bother to upload this with poor audio?

  • Heisenberg was saved by zero

  • @callitclean Breaking Bad!!!!

  • Saved by pi ?

  • So this song is about Megaman X?

  • wtf is this crap , i meant to get bad romance by lady gaga

  • @THEFLESHMANN1

    Idiot.

  • @XsweetxsacraficeX Calm down , im sorry my brother wrote that crap . Reach The Beach is my favorite.

  • Okay, this guy had the best 80s mullet, beating out Bono and Mel Gibson, lol.

  • @fitnessdvdqueen LOL I was was just thinking the exact same thing! Kinda miss the mullet. And the 80s.

  • Great band saw them live in summer of 83 at the Playpen in Wildwood Crest NJ

on the "Reach the Beach" Tour!

  • I am sorry if I am living in the past but the 80's were so different. The music, the movies & MTV. remember them? Listen the the Jack FM 96.5 Its all there.....

  • Lived through the 80s and I've had many songs I come back to... this is still one of my favorites even in 2011. The Fixx was way ahead of their time on this one!

  • Obama sucks, this song does not.

  • @MrRollerderby I agree with half of your statement.

  • @MrRollerderby

    you're so cool.

  • @TheRealLordRyu Not!!!!!

  • @MrRollerderby so what do you want, another greedy republican in office. Obama has done more for this country than all of the Bush ara. get a grip. oh and i'm a white man and i will vote for Obama again in 2012.

  • @thewayofthemasterful oh you hate america....go right ahead and vote for barry.....and i'd put hitler in the white office than that marxist obama...anytime!!!!!!

  • @1942PANTHERV

Bush is Hitler, the whole world thinks so. Get a clue.

  • @masamune28954 no no..you got it wrong....obama is stalin and lenin..bush was a great president.....and what was so wrong with hitler???...he was dead right about stalin

  • @1942PANTHERV

"bush was a great president". Please kill yourself. That is all thats worth saying to you.

  • @masamune28954 you 1st..i'll provide the sword

  • @masamune28954 Only the naive and political hacks would find either Bush or Obama to be great presidents.

  • @Adino1

    Never said either were great

  • @thewayofthemasterful Obama signed NDDA, nough said. Oh wait one more thing Republicans want to control your mind and Democrats your money, good luck with either or, now I'll enjoy the song.

  • @thewayofthemasterful obama did nothing they are all puppets the govern behind the govern does it all have you ever heard of the ones who own us all, they know you and me. presidents are a joke just a person on tv

  • @thewayofthemasterful That's what I'm talking about...speak the truth!!!

  • i remember being a 80s kid...............now the only way i can go back is in my fantasy :(

  • I love it too but 2-channel stereo is badly out of synch; you shouldn't use effects or DSP unless you are gonna listen to your own work.

  • 83? i was in the 3rd grade =-( and was into rap.

  • @victordls; How could a 3rd grader be into rap? You should have been spanked and put to bed without any desert!

  • Comment removed

  • @victordls - THAT WAS RAP WITH A "C" I TAKE IT!

  • Wow. Pop song about existentialism. Quite an endeavor for any band.

Saved by the nothingness of human existence.l

  • jajajajjaja, you will make the same mistake my friend

  • Love this I heard it on the radio the other day driving around

  • i am a black guy but I have always enjoyed white boy music from the Beatles and the Stones to The Foo Fighters

  • Love this!!!

  • Does someone know what kind of synthesizer is used on this song ? Especially the synth part right after he sings " Saved by zero ?" Thanks . Beautiful song.

  • These guys are one of my fave groups of the 80's. This song, Red Skies, & Stand or Fall are my fave songs of theirs. I liked One thing Leads to Another but it was their lesser played songs like this that I favored. They were so awesome. I still listen to them repeatedly on CD now.

  • Attention; cinecromancer. The song is not out of synch! It was recorded that way to have the effect of "reverb" The sound engineer wanted the sound to slide or rotate left to right, back and forth. So, anyway, it's a great song, well written, with a very artistic music video.

  • Wish VeVo stuff would load faster if at all on this computer

  • @LaurenLovesJeffy get a new computer then stop complaining.

  • @THEFLESHMANN1

This is a new computer jerk. It just sometimes doesnt wanna load these vevo things. Some take longer and some dont. i wasnt exactly complaining.

  • @LaurenLovesJeffy Excuses excuses , internet police no gwan mess

  • @THEFLESHMANN1 wtf is "gwan'?

  • @LaurenLovesJeffy I HAS NO IDEA WHAT YOU SPEAK OF

  • the only way I win

  • I get to see them at the Hollywood Bowl 80s show this Friday 9.2.11!!!!!

  • @Lerpalicious That was a great concert!!!

  • @Lerpalicious how was it?

  • @britalian2006 A-MAZ-ING!!!!! Search "the fixx hollywood bowl" and you can see for yourself. They sounded great and Cy looked smokin' HOT!!! He perfected the art of aging well!!!

  • .........

  • seems like there were 2 videos for this song ,,i think this is the second one,,also may have been 2 for stand or fall as well..

  • The wrinkled old lady face used to scare the crap out of me, circa age 8 in 1983 when this video was heavily played on MTV

  • has anyone built a time machine?

  • I was born in 1963 and I remember in the 1980's the bands of the 60's made big comebacks in the 80's these guys were all in their 40's. Now I think our generations of bands Modern Rock such as The Fixx are coming back, people are missing their sound even the young kids today, c-mon mainstream radio station quit playing the BS Crap already cause Rock of Ages is on it's way back!

  • its supposed to be out of phase

  • horseshit audio, c'mon vevo millionaire TOOLS.

  • These Fucking Ads Suck!

  • Great song......and if you live long enough, you will remember a lot of horrible things that never happened to you...

  • Why do I have to look at that disgusting so called "lady " Gaga?

  • Wow, I love this oldie! It's a classic. Most of the music today is plain boring and without creativity.

  • Ya more great 80s music, i purchased this LP way back, great music great memories. Thank you god for the 80s in my youth. Was Nile Rodgers a part of this production??

  • @MrF1alonso No, was produced by Rupert Hine.

  • I remember NBC when they started to play videos. At that time,we couldnt wait to watch!

  • I had herd the m tv is going to be playing 80's music videos like it was ment to be, just like it was in the days when they played 80's tunes, cant wait should be awsome

  • Does everyone remember "Friday Night Videos" that came on NBC back in the 80s.....they played all the great songs/videos.....those were the days....along with the great times watching the videos on MTV....what happened to those days?

  • @eightiesguy62 reality show for mtv and talk shows on nbc did any body watch the mtv 30 on vh1 classic last weekend? they even aired the first hour of mtv being on the air. complete with the brand new technical problems mtv had that cirst hour

  • @compwiz878 I didn't see that....sure wish I had known about it.....you just can't beat the music or the videos of the 80s!!

  • @eightiesguy62 look up mtv 30 here on youtube

  • @eightiesguy62 : Yeah but videos really began jumping the shark around then. I never have had cable in my whole life and back in the day, MTV was IT for videos but UHF stations sometimes did their own video shows every day (!) and it was AWESOME. Very short window for this--1983-84. Then it became this corporate thing and it all went downhill. That's why I say that about "Friday Night Videos." It debuted in 1983 and within a couple of years, most videos began doing a lot of annoying jump cuts.

  • @eightiesguy62 Around the mid-'80s, videos began jump-cutting where the camera doesn't stay on anyone longer than two seconds. Sucked big time. Also, instead of surreal videos they became very generic and non-imaginative. Look at even a performance video by Hall and Oates like "Private Eyes" from 1982. The camera stays on the performance for much longer than it started to do later. It's a cheezy video but it shows how much less hyper the shots were.

  • GREAT SONG!!!!! Period.... and end of story!

  • @tmoodyband You got that right....not too many bad 80s songs that I can think of though....PERIOD!!!

  • Yeah talent is missing from today's music. In addition they actually played their own instruments, today everything is pretty much computerized. The Fixx was on fire. Too bad songs like stand or fall or red skies at night never made it bigger. If anyone is from Cali, the Fixx, along with Wang Chung and Naked eyes is playing at Thunder valley casino on August 26, 2011

  • @blindshadow01 I loved all the New Wave bands of the 80s....the Fixx, Naked Eyes, Human League and Wang Chung too....."Everybody have fun tonight....everybody Wang Chung tonight!!" :)

  • Talent is what`s missing in today`s music.

  • the Fixx hit #20 in Billboard, 8-13-83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • wow.. yeah... they need to sync left and right!! wow.!!! bummer was hoping to get a good version of this song.. I want to remix it ;-) if anyone has it, hit me up!!

  • Those who believe the original version of the track off Reach The Beach has this stereo problem need to listen to the original. Its not there, never has been, never will. Its definitely a VEVO problem.

  • Love the 80's

  • Actually...sounds like they just mastered it with some stereo chorus. ...with separation at maybe 25% ??? hmmmm

  • I loved these guys and didn't know who they were til I was 40. I'd just here this song piped into the shopping mall. I was so deprived, somebody write me a check.

  • @Diamonddusted68 they're still around and touring select venues in the states, just nowhere near me

  • Jamie , has a very unigue guitar style.

  • The stereo track is out of sync that's the problem

  • Please Lord, Send me Back to the 80' I'm dying in this era of 2011, God have mercy on me

  • @MrJimmypage32 Amen.

  • @MrJimmypage32 Me too Lord, if there is time machine hidden somewhere, let us, few chosen ones, find it and promise not to make the same mistakes over again ; ) !!

  • Terrible recording with the echo going on. Great song though

  • Someday I will be annoyed by toyota by this song.

  • Zero, the abyss, the nothingness. Valueless, incomprehensible. Zero avoids any and all attempts of humanity to conquer or control it. Zero is free and unidentifiable. Zero is Art.

  • Fo those who insist there's nothing wrong with the synching of the audio in this video... Another video of the song but with the correct audio can be found by searching for "Saved by the Sith". Can you hear the difference now?

  • Hey Roland06711, Thank You! I am in the music business and this was a great effect in the 80's. I occasionally use it today with bands wanting the 80's sound. This is a great version of this song.

  • "Saved by Zero" and "Stand or Fall" defined the 80s for me, personally. Long live the Fixx!

  • Saw FIXX last night at some bar in Fremont. Only hundred or so people there. Very cool! If you like FIXX, you'll love James Whren in REVERB--a must read of a beautiful, rich, master musician who learns how to love someone other than himself. Read it on reverbnovel or jcafesin dotcom...

  • I fucking hate VEVO and their damned advertisements. I wish they would get shingles and then burn in hell.

  • 1983 in music was cool!

  • @JOSECHETATRIBUTE Hell Yeah!

  • @JOSECHETATRIBUTE i respect your opinion but in mine i would like to say modern metal or rock is good as well

  • omg that was 1983?

    \

  • great song!!!!!!!!

  • They used to have this vid with "relaid track" and the audio was awesome---can't find it now. I love this song, but the audio for this one sucks.

  • California knows it?
