  • I remember visiting the towers in my senior high school year in 1991. We went to new york city and got to ride up, it was fun, i was gonna throw a penny dwn, but the lady told me that it would kill someone

  • I really wanted to visit the wtc, to see how big it is. But I can't now :(

  • this is so fake everyone knows the world trade center was actually a hologram

  • Iam glad bin laden is DEAD we still need to nuke the middle east!!!!!!!!

  • @johnniewalker66669 no we don't

  • nice elevator ride

  • Damn that elevator was fast!

  • here's my point if your going to have a tall building have enough Parachutes for everyone so if this would ever happen agian so you could jump and safe your life

  • 1987... floor indicator signage was much different (numbers in intervals... in Helvetica font... IIRC)... but I'll never forget how FAST those MFers were.

  • I got to go up there the same year and to the roof ! watching this video I can still feel my ears popping lol I'll never forget

  • een jaar voor de dood van deze lift.

  • May I ask, Were you in the South or North tower?

  • @morgan123l

I don't remember. I think there was only one tower that they allowed you to go to the roof, so it was that one.

There was a gift shop on the top floor, and there were flags of all the nations in the lobby.

  • @majorleaguepinscom you were in the south tower then :)

  • @majorleaguepinscom south tower, north tower roof was mechanical.

  • What Year Did You Film These Elevators?

  • @Joey83812The

    2000 (see video title)

  • 2001

  • may everyone who died in 9/11 rest in piece

  • Anyone else notice it skipped the 85th floor?

  • just imagine if you were there about four months later -.- yu wouldnt be here

  • I was on the South Tower 4 months before 9/11, my frist trip to NYC ever, I'll never forget it. My ears popped 3 times going up in that elevator

  • @majorleaguepinscom its not a fake thats for sure:) and i wouldnt have bothered replying to the troll . rode on those just a few times, never liked the way they swayed lol::) and the "roof is open but please dont jump is pretty typical": brought back some memories:) thanks for posting it

  • Who knew that there would be many people jumping from the roof about 1 year later.

  • It's good to see a piece of history. Thanks for uploading this.

    RIP World Trade Center 1973-2001.

  • @majorleaguepinscom This is real because it said 107 empire state building doesn't have that much floors wtc had 110

  • No have 85. floor

  • it skipped 85

  • @robby123ism why??

  • @medolin1976 i dont know? look at the video again. isnt that weird it skipped the 85th floor

  • RIP World trade center :(

  • so sad ppl died in there smh rip

  • Too bad Bin Laden destroyed this elevator.

  • Otisberg? OTISBERG?

    "Its a little bitty place!!"

  • They are Otis!

  • Lady Operator said '' Please Don't Jump '' .

Who knew they would some 1.5 years later,.

  • Beautiful video. Here, in Spain, we haven't got those tall buildings ):

Can Everyone explain me what is the meaning of the roof is open, what roof??

  • @AdriPianist

It means that you can go up from the top floor, onto the roof.

    See my other video.

  • @majorleaguepinscom ok, thanks! (:

  • I wonder if Janusha (see comment below) got to ride that elevator!

  • thats a fast elevator!

  • 0:30

    Please don't jump.

    Ironic choice of words.

  • damn if i was on the 102 floor and i could see the bottom i would shit my pants R.i.P WTC

  • rebuild the twin towers and stop with that total craziness of the freedom tower, please.

  • so sad that 1 year after the elevator is dust which tower is this in

  • so sad that 1 year after the elevator is dust

  • i hear somebody talk swedish lol

  • So crazy...when she says "please don't jump" everyone seamed amused! who knew uh?

  • I remember working at Telerate before they moved to harborside and we would travel from the 104th I think all the way down each day. What a pisser. I think it was something like 2 miles an hour slower than free fall. You weighed almost nothing until the end. Nobody ever got used to that.

  • I remember this making my ears pop, and that floaty feeling you get when the car stops.

  • holy crap thats a fast lift

  • @KimberIyy Imagine you're on your way to work and just when you get to the top floor a plane hits your building. THAT sir, must suck.

  • thats fast as hell? right?

  • This is just eerie to watch, after September 11'th happened....

  • Who the hell criticizes this? This video is historic, equivalent to interviews of concentration camp survivors.

  • over a minute to reach the top in an elevator, and the building fell in 10secs. 105 floors in 10 secs = 0.0952sec per floor. how could a building fall that fast, even if steel is weakened by the fire and the impact, it would still slow the collapse. but the 3 wtc buildings fell in free fall speed, please please do your own research these buildings did not collapse due to fire alone its basic physics

  • 99,999

    waw naild it

  • Well, this was one of the first elevators to go on 9/11.

  • @DonWon313 yeah you're like me. But try the Eiffel tower, the elevator is made of glass! :(

  • This would be my ultimate fear, i have a fear of elevators and going that high up would be real fucked up

  • its a cool thing to see. ALot of us live in cities that the buildings only go as high as 20 floors. If i had ever gotton the chance to go there (wtc) i probly would have filmed the numbers goin up as well. i grew up in Arizona.. so the one time i went to new york i spent the whole time lookin up. i couldnt belive how high the buildings get.

  • wow 107 floors that must be a very very very very...... very very very...... long time.

  • Im definitly going there when I go to New York next month.

  • @Janusha O RLLY?

  • Tezen lift is nu omgesmolten en in navigator of the sea romp verwerkt.

  • When going to the top of the world trade centre, I will always remember how my ears popped at around about the 20th floor,

  • this elevator is trash now.

  • motherfucker are fast

  • Where is the 85 floor? o.o

  • I noticed that :D

  • @reymatt76

Maybe you should have read the description before wasting 1:10 of your life, watching it. Different people are entertained in different ways, but you really shouldn't expect to be "entertained" by something related to the WTC.

Sorry it wasn't up to your expectations. Try my Men On Football video. That one is very entertaining.

  • @reymatt76

    So, what were you expecting?

And does your stopwatch really count from 1 to 107?

  • i was in the trade centers on 9/1/01

i was in my hotel room when the plane hit

    i was i was 8 years old

  • @Elevator3322 it happened on 9/11/01 fucktard

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. This is a little creepy.

  • Comment removed

  • This had 110 floors and that stupid Freedom tower is 108 floors!!!!! Rebuild the Twin Towers and make it high:)

  • Also the Freedom tower will be using a foreign company, Thyssenkrupp, to install the elevators instead of American Otis like the original Twin Towers. Another outrage!

  • the observatory was on the 107th floor not the 110th so the freedom tower wud be at the same height

  • @RomJonno15 108 was chosen because it is an auspicious number.

  • what I'd give for having the chance to go in that plaza, still seeing their wonderful neoghotic trident shaped columns in front of the fountain, going inside their ultrafast elevators, and discovering to be above the clouds as their doors open...with their magnificent twin shadows standing out on lower Manhattan...damn...9 years...

  • from 0:46 to 0:50 was were the airplane hit it if we take that this was the south tower.

  • and 0:55 to 0:58 was the north tower impact zone

  • LOL the lady goes "please don't jump."

  • they wreaked 32 elevators so much things man it sad i wish i was in it

  • My 4th grade teacher was on the top floor an hour before the plane hit. =S

  • @LorenaIsa123 whoa.... thats's pure luck!

  • No that is by the grace of God that she wasn't on that top floor when the plane hit.

  • @LorenaIsa123

I know what you mean I wanted to visit the WTC at 9 a.m.... at 8.46 a.m. the first plane hit :(

  • How? The first plane hit at 8:46.... and the observation tower was not open until 9:00.

  • @1legomaster This was filmed in 2000, not 2001.

  • @LorenaIsa123 Do you mean the roof? or the VERY top floor?

  • i remember that when i was 10 yrs. old!!! the elevator was almost the size of my room and i saw a giant "phantom of the opera" ad taped to the walls. it went up so fast my ears popped!! When we went to the 107 floor we only used 1 enevator. but when we went down we stopped at the sky lobby (i think it was the 77th floor) and transferred to another elevator to the 1st floor. It was amazing!!

  • I was there the day it happened, except we had left and we got home, and it was all over the news. We were lucky.

  • Lucky Son of a Bitch!!!

  • I was really sad to hear it though. I knew a bunch of people that perished that day along with many i didn't even know. I was 6 years old when it happened, and it still feels like yesterday it happened.

  • Damn That Elevator Is Moving lol

  • This is not 3500 lbs like most high-rise elevators that move at 8 m/s, but this can carry 10000 lbs or 55 people. 10000 lbs can lift vertically at 8 m/s by the power from 350 HP Otis 339HT gearless giants, similar to what used for Otis' high-speed, high power double deck elevators in Startosphere Tower, Las Vegas (2x3500=7000 lbs; 9 m/s; 6th fastest in the world), and Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur (26x2=52 persons; 7.5 m/s; 10th fastest in the world).

  • That's fucking fast for an elevator...

  • It does go really quick, it's the same as when you go up the Empire State Building. I went up there and it made my ears pop because it was that fast!

  • The WTC elevators were faster than the Empire State Building ones. 1600 fpm against 1400 fpm.

  • Yeah I can imagine they would have been.

  • @em1288 My ears didn't pop on the Empire State Building elevator or the plane ride from Nashville to New York in January 2010. Weird.

  • I went there back in 2001.

  • One year before the attack. I don't think I would have gone up there anyway. At least not that high.

  • I haven't been up there although I was lucky to visit the WTC complex in July of 01

  • Its amazing how things change. Here people are happy and one year later that building was pulveried to about one stories worth standing.

  • too bad there was a 13th floor.

  • I live on a 13th floor lol

  • what do u mean roof is open??

  • On some days, you could continue on up to the roof. See his other video. There are scenes from the roof.

  • There was no floor 85.

  • Probably a service floor. I believe WTC had three floors dedicated completely to power.

  • Is it because the building has 13th storey?

  • The Freedom Tower is an inferior tower that will remind us of our weaknesses and our submissiveness to the elite. If we rebuild the Twin Towers, it will show the world we can't be beaten, and that we can build a World Trade Center that doesn't have the security of a fortress.

    wtc2011 . com

  • That trip took about a minute and forty-eight seconds.

  • I want the Twin Towers back. Why haven't we rebuilt them by now? Its pretty sad what took 2-3 years back then takes 10 years or more these days. So much for progress. Pretty pathetic for a supposed leader of the free world.

  • They aren't rebuilding the WTC, they are building a bunch of glass boxes and spikes that bear no resemblance whatsoever to the original WTC or the "winning design"

  • You have corrupt politicians, the PA environmental wackos, that are slowing everything down. They have still not torn down the deutsch bank 2 years after 2 fireman died because of the envirinmental assholes regulations

  • @PinePowerLI they just finally started construction of One World Trade Center. I can't believe it took them 9 years to start

  • @PinePowerLI has nothing to do with the president hahahahahahaha

  • damn thats one fast elevator! usually when i been on an elevator and i look at the screen where it says what floor your on, it takes one second to display one floor but here, the elevator went up 3 floors in one second

  • Yeah, it was pretty quick. I used to work on 77, and my ears would pop every time I used the elevator.

  • oh i'm sorry to hear. were you there on 9/11?

  • i've gone to the prudential center in boston 2 times but i've been in the elevators like 20 times they are smaller and they do seem faster than the ones in the trade center and i could feel my ears popping every time and i thought i was gonna float when it was going down but still the ones in the trade center were fast

  • How sad that this elevator played a major role in the 9/11 drama (in the North Tower).

  • i've been there when i was six years old or something. we visited it in spring and in fall the plane hit the towers.

  • Hello. stop blaming the 9/11 on terrorists as it was clearly bush's fault. us muslims have to take the blame for all of this when it was never our fault. So stop with the bull of us muslims dying in most painful way and say that to bush.

  • are you asshole it was muslims responsible for 9/11 the first WTC bombing in 1993, madreid, bali, london, african embassy bombings the list list is endless

  • It wasn't muslims, it was radicals. Those who aren't true believers killing themselves off in the name of their God while not even following the Koran. Muslims don't like these individuals as much as you don't like them. Islam is not the source of terror. Disgruntled former CIA assets are.

  • Dumb C***

  • who was it then? buddhist monks

  • ugh....as the floor number reads 78 (the floor struck by the plane), i just sigh and wish that this disaster never happened.

  • These were OTIS Traction Elevators. Though the fixtures looked like Schindler fixtures.

  • The Freedom Tower's elevators wont even be Otis but Thyssenkrupp. Yet another reason the Freedom Tower is an inferior replacement.

  • Annoying buzz for more than 100 floors? why oh why did they go ThyssenKrupp?

  • ThyssenKrupp must be cheaper than Otis. They don't care about good service they just want the lowest bidder.

  • @dontwalkhand They might not use the buzz. But if they do, make sure you get some ear plugs.

  • Then why did you look at it???

  • its a shame that i will never be entitled to viewing that deck

    DAMN YOU TERRORIST BASTARDS:@

  • I'm with you bud..

My mom worked in the towers in the 80's.

She used to take me to see her office once a week so I was always in the towers.. They were my second home..

    It's devastated me..

  • ive never been in the towers but ive seen them,

is it as nice as the tv's shows say? on the inside?

  • i hear someone speaking french;)

  • wow that elevator moved 3 stores a second.

and why did it stop at 107? 110 would sound nicer

  • because the observation deck was in the 107th floor, while the floors 108-110 were technical floors (elevator machine rooms etc).

Anyway, there was an escalator to the open roof, above the 110th floor and accessible in the good weather periods.

  • i see thanks for info

  • what was that?

  • good video!! congratulations majorleaguepinscom!!

  • Yea and the $3.00 donuts on the top of the nicest resturant ever. I always think about the 25 cent binoculars that were on the roof so you could see far. Those and the quarters hit the ground in seconds.

  • thats so strange to think that that elevator is gone literally, scary

  • hard to beleve that what you are seing here is no more there

  • Its weird to think that the elevator you were in on the video was just pulverized huh.

  • Google Drive to the Top by Robert Baamonde, Jr Elevator World March 2001. Read the cached PDF file on how there was an ungrade done to both in early 2001. That's how they came down in the service elevators.

  • where is the 85th floor?

  • Why did the elevator's display ignore the 85th floor?

  • strange, very strange...

  • Flight 11 hit the 85th floor. Coincidence? And that's where the service elevators were rigged weekend before 911 during the power down. ACE Elevator must have done preliminary work in September 2000 so no elevators were allowed to stop on that floor.

  • My bad, Flight 175 hit between 77 and 85th floors of WTC 2. So this video must be of WTC 2.

Since WTC 1 and 2 were both top down demolitions, the 85th floor elevators of WTC 2 were rigged to bring down floors 86 and above to start the collapse in the vicinity of Flight 175's impact.

  • I was up top too , only 3 months before 9/11. i regret taking pictures or video, it has haunted ever since

  • Can you confirm this video is WTC 2?

Another question I have is if and when you were in WTC 1 a few months before 911, did you notice the elevators going up past the 100th floor if floors 98 or 99 skipped like 85th did in this video?

  • I dont know...

I did not notice the elevators skiping floors

it was an amazing view up there i regret not taking pics

  • He was on "Top of the World", an observation deck on 2WTC (South Tower). So, this is WTC 2.

  • If you fell from that height in an elevator.OMG

  • on 911 some people did fall all the down its not funny

  • I know it's not funny.

  • thats so sad how she says dont jump and i think thats y every1 starts laughing, i dont think they had any idea what would happen and people would actually jump from heights like that knowingly. So Sad

  • No, camcorders had been around at least since the early 80's. I got my first one in 1985. They have consistently improved the quality since then. They were pretty big back in the 80's. Especially the VHS versions.

  • What were the digital cameras like back then? Was this with one of those home film kind of cameras?

  • Well, it was only 8 years ago. It was a Sony 8mm camcorder.

  • Pretty good quality for the time. Was that around when camcorders were coming out? I don't remember much of the early 2000s and late 1990s. I'm only 14.

  • - @ Kenny2k08 -

Actually video cameras have been around since the mid 1970's - but they were larger and the recorder section that contained the tape was not attached to the camera. Either it sat on a table or you wore it with a shoulder strap.

CD players were invented in the 1970's as well.

For a trip back in time, Kenny, look up 8-track, audio cassettes, laser disc, etc.

My first computer ran at 4MHz - not GHz and had a 10 meg hard drive and a monochrome CRT monitor.

  • does anyone know if visitors were allowed in tower 1

  • man that elevator is fast
