out standing tutorial i am setting a country music radio station online and my question is How can i make my voice sound like a fm radio sound effect we want to use BestCountryMix the sound effect playing the best in country music as the effect in the background like it turning in sort of thing Mike
HI Russell, this is so helpful. I need help though, I am using the plantronics headset for my voiceovers. Problem is, everytime I start removing the noise and adding those marvelous effects, my voice start to sound robotic or metallic. Any advice on how to avoid that? I have googled it and everyone who has that problem has not gotten any solution yet except to buy a really expensive mic. Any help will be appreciated.
This is very helpful! I do dubbing for amateur voice actors so this will help me make the production sound so much more crips and professional grade. Thank you very much Mike! I hope to see more of your tutorials!
Mike, thanks! As a voiceover artist I was delighted to see that you took the trouble to share your settings, I use almost the exact same tweaks but have been too lazy to share............
Hi Mike, Thank you for your lovely explanations. Worked great. But I had a one tiny problem. After all checking if I am missing something, I did not find any thing. But at the final, the empty recorded areas which are between the speeches are became too noisy. How can we get rid of that noise?. Thanks alot for your sharing. Regards from Istanbul, Turkey.
I would probably apply a gate after you normalize, otherwise all the background noise is gonna be glaringly apparent...also, I don't know why you didn't normalize the entire file, because the point of normalization is to even out the signal relative to its highest peak...the reverb and the compression was way overkill, I didn't get the point of that
this helps a lot, I usually use the dynamics processing tool but this really does the job of imitating a large diaphram mic like the Nuemann U87, after the processing your sample sounded great!
This Was Perfect! Well Almost, When I Do The "Broadcast" Effect It Really Brings Out The Background Noise And It's Really Loud, I Tried Reducing The Output Level But Then It's Too Low, I Just Want The Cool Broadcast Effect But With Less Background Noise, Can You Tell Me How I Can Do That? Thanks
Great question Wayne! I suppose you've just got to balance out the sound FX with the VO for example if your sweeper starts with the word @This@, then it's advised to have a woosh to start it off and depending on the style/content of the script will determin what kind of sound FX to use. Mike, I think your doing a really good job at these tutorials and it gives newbies....
Heres an idea... lets see a video of how you actually chose what SFX, Sweepers & Stagers you use when it comes to buying a jingle from MRC, kinda like a behind the scenes.
Thank you

Would you use this method for longer spoken pieces? Would it be OTT for, say, an interview? In that case, what part might you leave out?
