Great job. I seen this movie as a kid in 74 and we were blown away by how spooky it was. Looking at a modernised trailer like this brings that same feeling back after all these years.
@jzaidan007 But if you think about it, Paul had way more screen time than Steve as he's seen from beginning to end, but you don't see Steve until about an hour to half an hour in. Also, in the movie itself, they're names are always shown together with Paul's slightly above Steve's
Thanks for posting this ! One of the classic disaster films of the 70 's Irwin Allen was a master at this eg The Poseidon Adventure etc a question was Sheila Matthews ( who I think was the mayors wife ) married to Irwin in real life ?
@Ianandsyd Yes, Sheila Matthews was Irwin Allen's wife. She also had a small role as the ship's nurse in "The Poseidon Adventure." (She had also appeared on an episode of Allen's "Lost in Space" TV series.)
Love this updated trailer, music is great!!! Love watching it. One thing, I wish we could see a bit more of characters in the trailer, like Faye Dunaway. Really doesn't show her or J. Jones or S. Blakely at all. Maybe at the end when showing stars Newman & McQueen by name, you could also follow them with Dunaway & Holden like the poster's did, they were four of the biggest stars at the time. Thanks for a great piece of work!!!
No offence meant to McQueen fans by previous views. No one, including me, would diminish his screen presence. I just think Newman was the better actor in the traditional sense.
Good update. I first saw the film 30 years ago on tv as a kid. I thought than as I do now that Newman carried it and not McQueen, who was one of the most overrated actors in film alongside the Duke .
@NiallJoe71 - Newman had more lines, a love interest, more screen time and more character development which helped him carry this film. McQueen's character was more one dimensional as an authority figure and hero type, but he added humanity to his role and was completely believable in how he commanded that authorit. He stole a few scenes in this diminished role. Don't forget McQueen was nominated for Best Actor in The Sand Pebbles and his life was cut short due to mesothelioma in 1980.
Very good but it needed humanising a little .. it felt too much about the building, and not the people. It needed a couple of grabs from the female stars, maybe Jennifer Jones or Faye Dunaway.
Excellent work. BTW, the first time I saw this movie was 9/10/06 on HDNet. I remember the date so well because I thought the timing was awful. Great movie though.
very well done! you need to be doing this for a living, or maybe you are? Just another comment on the movie itself though, I can't believe it received a PG rating. The grusome death scenes would easily be a R rating by todays standards.
INFIERNO EN LA TORRE, OTRA DE LAS GRANDES PRODUCCIONES DEL CINE CATASTROFE DE LOS 70 EXELENTE MOVIE DONDE EL INCENDIO DEL GRAN RASCACIELO ES TODO UN ESPECTACULO
The trailer looks great...but where is the boatload of other stars besides Newman and McQueen? That was a key selling point of these pictures, back in the day. You need to have titles and headshots for Wagner, Chamberlain, Astaire, Blakely et al. And where's that famous movie logo at the end?
I enjoyed this trailer, and saw a comment below about them re-making it, although not as well as the original, but probably wouldn't be done because of 9/11/01. Well, want to hear something really ironic about 9/11/01, and this movie, all of the true Towering Inferno fans that have the anniversary set of DVD's should already know this, but guess when they wrapped the shooting on this film??? That's right 9/11/74. Is that not chilling, or what......
Ha,ha..I have to tip my hat to you, that's not half bad, pretty good job actually, like the way you put in the voice-overs.Try your hand with Airport 75,Earthquake,Poseidon Adventure,I would be interested to see what you can come up with.
I would never have known this wasn't the original trailer. Bravo, I always thought that the movie used a dull concept but now that I think about it, it's astoundinly clever (and kind of scary).
Only problem is the credits. NO WAY either Paul Newman or Steve McQueen would give up first billing. You'd have to put them both up at the same time, THEN have a second billing for someone else (there are a lot).
That's how they were billed in the original trailer, on all the posters and the movie itself, Mcqueen and Newman's name both appear at the same time, Mcqueen's name is on top but Newman's is below it and more to the left. So, if you were reading top to bottom it would look like Mcqueen got first billing, but if you were reading left to right, it would look like Newman got first billing. They also have the same amount of dialog in the movie.
Just finished this film. It was GREAT.

Awseome job! Only thing is I would have added the infamous line "It's a fire mister, and all fires are bad." somewhere in there.

I've loved The Towering Inferno since I was a child. Thanks for the 'modernized' trailer.
You should have used some of John Williams' music however.

How ' bout someone doing a trailer with "Disco Inferno"?
wetdreamgirls 1 year ago
Does anyone know that filming of Towering Inferno actually wrapped up on September 11, 1974?!
How ironic is that?
This information is in the Special Edition of the Towering Inferno DVD & Blu-Ray.

Awesome!!!
If I can ever get a remake done, I want you to do the trailer!
I am a life-long fan of T.I., and have dreamed for years of doing a new & improved version of this classic film.
I have LOTS of ideas for the story & lead actors!
