  • The Mars Volta is to music what evolution is to humans

  • Does anyone know Paul Hogan is, because it says he is the composer of this song. I have no idea who he is.

  • why the fuck is this songnot on the actual francesthe mute album

  • @ChirpCentral It's not on the album because most producers want albums to be less than 80 minutes so it can fit on a single cd.

  • @thepimpinest yea but this album in particular has so much fuckin filler in it you would think they'd cut some of that shit to make way for this masterpiece

  • Amazing. Truly.

  • My favorite MV song. <3

  • It amuses me that you got tired of placing annotations a minute and a half in :P

  • If I had this guy's voice ...

  • yes! yes! all i have to say

  • Comment removed

  • there's only two kinds of people in the world, people who hear TMV and question everything in their lives (in the best way) and people who hear it and go "WTF is this bullshit!?"

  • YES GUTTED AND DEPRAAAAVVEEEEDDD

  • Never liked thi intro anyway, fine to take it away :P

  • just had a beer & a shot b4 listening to this track..for the 1st time; blew my fuckin' mind. i should czech out the rest of this album..

  • I feel bad for the people who miss this song. Listening to this with the rest of the album is the best way to spend 92 minutes.

  • they should have put this on the album! this sound is amazin!

  • @zeadsi They did put this on the album, but only on vinyl

  • @shitbricksoup o dam, didnt k tht! but i got the song anyways so i'll jus enjoy 10:00 more mins of music made by gods!...i use to only like rap then TMV open my eyes. they're the shit!

  • This is so mesmerizing and beautifully bad-ass!!! Long live The Mars Volta!!!! <3

  • I'm into deeply spiritual stuff but I can say nothing has come close to touching my soul the way TMV's music has

  • Why am I only listening to these guys now?

  • GOOd version... led me in a particular kind of trip!

  • oh man the 4 20 mins at the start is when i get baked as then shlum on the couch

    >_<

  • I'm so sorry that At The Drive In broke up, but glad the spirit of the voice is still kicking it out!

  • guenisimoooooo

  • Dude, do you have an mp3 of this or something? This would be beyond perfect for my workout but the version I have is long and has that big quiet slow part in the middle which is beautiful but a huge buzz kill. I would be eternally grateful if you could hook me up or direct me to a program where I might cut up music for myself. Seriously, I will love you foreveeerrrrr

  • @Lycaenope google "audacity" - free, easy to use audio-editing program.

  • at the moment, best band in the world.

  • @upptekid forever will be ;)

  • ahh only with this group I visit mysterious and virgin places!

  • If every band was Mars Volta, we'd have nothing to gauge their awesomness against. So in a way its good that bad music exists so we can know that this stuff we're listening to right now is the real deal.

  • @Apocol0id it's almost too much too explain, i prefer to bring girls to live show to just say SEE? how AMAZING was that...? now they know....

  • Was this a single release or is there one album Im missing?

  • @hugo899 This song is the B-side to the Widow single. The album "A Missing Chromosome" doesn't really exist.

  • Check out "Cho Plateau" by P-Town Rap Squad if you want to see a badass music video.

  • Did everybody else hear 6:50? o.o

  • Holy shit this intense!

  • 6:17-> King Crimson anyone?

  • @oldsoulyoungbody Haha, totally.

  • Mars Volta is such a great band. The fact that rappers like Lil fuckin Wayne are more popular than mars volta, boggles my mind.

  • @derek12593 Because it takes a special kind of brain to be able to appreciate the genius that is TMV. To appreciate Lil' Wayne, a brain is optional equipment that most of his followers lack which is why, my friend, TMV rules to a smaller group :)

  • @derek12593 why you hatin' on Weezy? haha, just playin' Just learned out this band this week, man, these guys soar.

  • @derek12593 easy answer "THERE ARE MORE CHIMPS IN THE WORLD" than there is humans.:]

  • @xBlackWaterxx >mfw this sentence has bad sentence structure.

  • @derek12593 i'm not a fan of of wayne, but it sounds like you have more issues than just how much more popular he is than tmv. there's a lot of shitty music out there today, no need to let your bias shine through.

  • @derek12593 lil wyane doesnt even fit in this genre of music.......irrelevant

  • @cheatedxxhearts Maybe if you actually comprehended what my point was you would realize that Lil Wayne is clearly relevant

  • @derek12593 hahahah, obvious troll is obvious.

  • @derek12593 haters guna hate :P

  • @derek12593 totally agree

  • @derek12593 People, as a general consensus, suck. Mind unboggled?

  • @FondlingReply Lol yeah man I know, it just sucks though

  • @derek12593 Really? It's because people don't care about musical skill, they just want to 'feel good' and all that 'tried and true' bullshit!

  • @derek12593 lil fuckin wayne is a lyricial musical genius

  • @Djjames504 lil fuckin wayne is a lyrical and musical dipshit. Usually I don't troll but just couldn't resist. Arrest Weezy...Again

  • @derek12593 He's not even a decent rapper, either. That's the sad part.

  • @derek12593 popularity is usually a bad sign.

  • 4:48 sounds KINDA weird...hahah.

  • @TheChexer1231 this doesn't sound weird it sounds awesome <3

  • @skitty2010

    same thing

  • Is the metallic intro to this song morse code?

  • its like i get the same feelin i get with zeppelin. but you hear some progressive modern guitar sounds and know you got the volta in your ears.

  • and the intro (3 minutes of metallic noise)?

  • I love how everytime I listen to their music, no matter how many times I've heard it, they never cease to absolutely blow my mind. It's like they took the spirit of the universe, and blew it out of their instruments into a phantasmagoria of sound emotions, and hits you with it all at once. Thank you, Mars Volta, for filling my head with tunes from the very reaches of the human mind, and explaining everything in my life.

  • @PandaJNiccals haha well said

  • @PandaJNiccals nigga you gay

  • @polytrap1 Really? There's no need for insults.

  • @PandaJNiccals i agree so hard.... above and beyond with music and words...

  • 6:12 Total Madness

  • @fanculoate indeed

  • I feel this song. This never happened..

  • this never happened...

  • @deadwalkingcg You can't compare My Chemical Romance to The Mars Volta. Volta is biblical as to Chemical is girly emo shit. Sorry mang.

  • @EwokChris That's not fair. To some, The Mars Volta is nonsensical jargon that's stupid and unlistenable. It's for potheads and spaced out slackers. How's that feel? My Chemical Romance is a great band too, but you have to give them a chance before you call them girly emo shit. They do concept albums that revolve around central themes, just like TMV. They're intense, have good lyrics, and though not as psychedelic as TMV, they can conjure up mood and atmosphere just as well.

  • @Apocol0id My Chemical Romance is catchy. Was catchy. That's all they got. I have their albums. And to compare them to TMV is laughable. And potheads and spaced out slackers? Haha, TMV's for intelligent people who can grasp concepts and get lost in the depth of the music. Finding something new to listen to every time they hear a song. I'm an electrical engineer and a fan of abstract, thought provoking music. Not a spaced out slacker pothead.

  • @tmv18bruce I know. I was merely comparing his generalization to one of my own. A lot of people attribute MCR to emo girls, and from what I've read in youtube comments for TMV, a lot of posters seem to be pot smokers. So...I made my own generalization. I dont BELIEVE it, just comparing.

  • @EwokChris That's not to say I don't see TMV as the superior band between the two- because I do. Just putting that out there.

  • @EwokChris Haha I feel that. MCR is too girly, ytoo emo, and all they do is spout shit.

  • i got the frances the mute single. it has the widow live on it. also it was free cause i meant to buy the album.

  • awesome son for this awesome band yeah!!

  • awesome son for this awesome band yeah!!

  • ive been a fan of the mars volta for a couple years now. they are absolutely the best band that really ever existed. and now...listen to this...im an MCR fan (one of the over obsessed ones)...and even My Chemical Romance's music cannot match theirs on any level. This is art. This is music. And for all of you who dont think the same...well then you can just suck it :)

  • @deadwalkingcg Probably because my chemical romance are shit.

  • this song is everyone's mother!

  • I don't know how this song didn't get at Frances, it's their best song and Frances their best CD.

  • i got this song free buy buying the frances the mute cd at best buy.....so no complaints here

  • @DarkTwilightGuitar

If you downloaded p2p you may have been tricked into getting someone else's stuff and they just labeled it as Volta to get more downloads. The only other thing I can think of is you got some of the individual parts of Cassandra Gemini, because that's a 30+ minute tune separated into smaller tracks and not all of them have vocal parts. They do have several 10+ minute tracks on some albums, but Cedric has vocals on pretty much everything.

  • lol beer ad?

  • "I've become the apparition you predicted for my death." Great line.

  • if only the ambient noise and bells weren't so necessary. then this song would fit perfectly between the widow and L'Via.

  • Im a little confused...the songs that i heard from them were instrumental and very very long, this songs that im hearing in youtube are way different form the ones i heard years ago when i downloaded their music in my old computer

  • this song is an epic and cedric voice is amazing there music is so underrated

  • Damn, this vocal sounds like James LaBrie and Andre Mattos at the same...

  • reminds me of muse... actually muse remind me of this song

  • @Mtayieb

oh please, don't compare a pussy band such as muse to THE MARS FUCKING VOLTA.

  • @arcticunggoy FUCK MUSE

  • @arcticunggoy People will obviously have their own opinions, but you should try listening to anything from Muse's Origin of Symmetry album - particularly Citizen Erased or Space Dementia. Pretty good stuff, it might change your mind.

  • @arcticunggoy Ugghh, dude.Muse kick fucking ass.So do the Mars Volta. Both are equally great bands.Yes,Mars Volta have more musically going, but they doesn't prove one is better than the other.

  • @crow66693 Equally great? No fucking way; what Mars Volta is doing is truly unprecedented in music. Muse is cool, but they are far from equal.

  • @yesfan157 Its all based on personal preference and if you like Mars Volta more than its all good.I prefer TMV more than Muse, but when I say they are both equally great bands it doesn't mean they are on the same musical level. For instance,The Beatles and Necrophagist are both equally great to me,as in they both have the same effect on me when I listen to them.

  • one of my faves

  • that imprint on the cover looks like a shlong....

  • yo which is the song where they speak spanish in some parts?

  • @nsaichin From the album Frances the Mute is L'Via L'Viaquez.

  • @nsaichin the have a couple...elvia, cicatriz, asilos madgalena...so on and so forth

  • @nsaichin get educated man, there's plenty of those.

  • you should not cut the length of the video. it is totally different song now...

  • listening to this makes me believe i can fly through extended space and demolish civilizations of wandering lightning soldiers while in the distance moons and stars explode at my touch. i love volta.

  • what do we miss in the beginning 4 minutes

    ??

  • @Masterreese1 Its pretty much what you hear at the very start..

    Just.. Longer.

  • 07:55 - 09:30 sounds like the beginning of Vismund Cygnus.. I love that music

  • @ubermensch790 because this song was supposed to be the album opener, the lyrics are "behind" the cd.

  • 6:51 - 7:45 is the most rocking thing ever! AMAZING!!@$@

  • So good!

  • just got there de-loused in the crematorium album, breathtaking

  • @crayZtaco7

    Crematorium? lol

  • @BigTymerPimp

hahahahaha, i didn't even know i put that. hahaha comatorium

  • that looks like a penis print lol

  • @BboiGinger haa fer reals

  • 6:58 hahah i swear i hear iron man in this just listen. who agrees? just that one part of the song otherwise FKJSHDFIGUHWEIHGWOUERHGHDFIGUHQE AMAZING!

  • the voice sounds so free, excesive, decadent....

  • TUUUUUUUUUUUUUNE

  • I liked those edits :)

  • oh by the way it's just my impression but Omar use a quite similar but faster riff to his guitar part in "0" with john frusciante

  • @keitaro21 Omar often uses similar licks in different songs, I find. Examples are: Goliath and Rapid Fire Tollbooth (off se dice Bisonte no Buffalo); Viscera Eyes and Jacob van Lennepkade II (off Apocalypse Inside an Orange) and Day of the Baphomets and A Plague upon Your Hissing

  • @wendighoul He said in his interviews that his solo albums are just like practice or experiments for The Mars Volta albums. Thats why some licks are similar.

    So, yeah.

  • @BigTymerPimp Cool, so the solo-album stuff is almost like the "prototype" for what eventually becomes a Mars Volta track, it's kinda neat that you can sort of observe the process in that way.

  • @wendighoul

Yeah, pretty much the solo albums are kind of like "prototypes" or "experiments" if you think about it like that. Not to mention Omar records about ten albums a year and only releases like four. So, think about all the unreleased material he has. Few musicians to my knowledge work as hard as Omar, such as Steve Wilson(Porcupine Tree) and Buckethead. And all those musicians make amazing music.

  • I can't understand why they have so many song they had never released ...

  • @keitaro21 Actually, this is one that they DID release. They just wanted it to be hard to get, so they overcharged the FUCK out of it. A lot of their other songs, (like the covers) were released too, in obscure ways. The demos and older versions however, were unreleased.

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids It costs $1.49 on iTunes. Not terrible.

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids Funny, because my copy of this that I own was a free giveaway from Best Buy with the album... I just bought it a second time for the Widow single.

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids This wasn't hard to get at all. It was on the cd single of The widow. This missing chromosome thing however is a complete fake and never existed. It was a fan made compilation of non album tracks etc with a made up name that he used to do to all his similar compilations. Don't get ripped off on ebay looking for this shit people. it's fake. This song simply wouldn't fit on the cd. The album was already long enough.

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids

That's not true at all, and I have no idea why you have 12 thumbs up. This song was not released to "overcharge" us. It was supposed to be on the album, but obviously it couldn't fit. You can buy it for $1 on most mp3 services. A $1 for a 14 minute song is by no means "overpriced". I got the CD single at Best Buy for free.

  • I can't believe I never gave this band a chance before. I bought an album of theirs a week ago and I'm in love. The interlude in this song sounds like Mario music haha

  • @xInDiieKiiDx Use your left hand. Voila.

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids

    I love Youtubians

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids lol... what an idiot.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @DelMonteOnSteroids I lol'd.

  • @xInDiieKiiDx that high eh?

  • @xInDiieKiiDx i want a LOT of what you are smoking.. :)

  • @xInDiieKiiDx have you seen that episode of south park with that killer who cuts of the left hand of all his victims? no? well go watch it.

  • @xInDiieKiiDx What are you talking about bro? haha that's totally normal.

  • @xInDiieKiiDx I can do it

  • @xInDiieKiiDx i know what you mean. It's subtle, but impossible to make that shape

  • @SaculNoshploda no its not im looking at my left hand now and its same. i have skinny hands just like the hand in the picture so maybe we,ve just realised individuality between hands or something idk.

  • @alexpotham no everyone is mistaking xInDiieKiiDx, i'm sure he realizes that those are where fingers "go" on a hand but looking closely at the individual digits (more towards the palm) you can see that the your pinky and ring finer can not turn towards the index like that. It's like a stupidly subtle twist that I have yet to see any real person recreate. Now let's end this hand nonsense and listen to a genius song that sadly never made it to the album.

  • @SaculNoshploda

    its on there man

second to last on the missing chromosome game

  • @xInDiieKiiDx Everyone's hands are different.

  • @xInDiieKiiDx fucking dumbass lol

  • @xInDiieKiiDx

    Are you for real?

  • @xInDiieKiiDx this guy..

  • That hand on the video keeps talking with speach bubbles :/

    Lol

  • this is amazing

  • lol that was hard

  • what you took from me is mine, and what is mine i'll never give

  • Incredible song, love this band. Can anyone recommend where I could place this song in the Frances album? Guessing before Cygnus but unsure

  • @AriaxWasTaken frances goes between miranda and cassandra. the ambience cut hides the markers to indicate such.

  • @AriaxWasTaken frances fits between miranda and cassandra.

  • @AriaxWasTaken This song is supposed to be the first track of frances the mute. so its this song then cygnus...vismund cyguns. at the end of this song u can hear the beginning of the first track of the album which is cygnus...vismund cygnus

  • the first 4 minutes isn't a experience it's just irritateing and repetitive, i have the full song and i think it's great but when i listen to it a few times it just gets annoying listening to all that crap at the beginning, if i wanted a experience i'de go sky diving not listen to 4 minutes of a jingleing bell in my ear

  • @john328266 there's a time and a place for it. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I just skip the first 4:30 mins

  • There's a strangely sick drum mix on this. I love the dissonance in this track. Gunna have to check out more Mars.

  • That...was awesome.

  • One of the best Mars Volta's song, and one of the less knowin by the people out there... [again, my english s*cks, i know ;)] & i agree with @Tak3TheViel about beginning/ending minutes, and if you listen to this with headphones & full volume, youll live a new whole experience, trust me, you will know what live its about ;)

  • i thought u were gonna keep doing the lyrics.....well i enjoyed it while you did it lol

  • This song is way better with the ambiance in the beginning

  • Is there some way I can download this version of the song? Mars Volta's sense for ambiance usually pleases me EXCEPT FOR IN THIS SONG. I cannot STAND those GODDAMN BELLS or whatever they are. They might set the mood, but I sat through it once and ever since then I have always skipped the song because the ambient intro irritates me so much.

So yeah, is there a way I can get THIS particular cut?

  • @mitchki Download Goldwave for free and edit it yourself. It's really easy and great for all those songs with random intro/outros.
