@KrellLab Actually the shuttle has been set to shut down long before the current President came to office. Its an old system that can be done better, even though it was a fair test bed in its time. Better to put the money into a better system. Besides he only got 4 years in office, not time to end it, at the most just slow it a bit, if he is at all. President doesn't make all the choices and the Congress decides where the bucks go.
@candr ;We should all vote Republican next time around! Obama's dismantling of the nation's space program has got to stop! He does NOT care one iota about manned space flight! He only pretended to care, and he deceived a whole lot of people. If a Mitt Romney reaches the White House, come January 2013, the manned Lunar goal will be restored.
@smeltriver09 i dont know obama doesnt take a stand on anything, all broad talk and licks evey bodys ass, he true politician and we dont get much of anything done with a politician. we only went to the moon to beat russia. now we have to wait until some other country trys to beat us to mars. russia was the leader in space exploring , usa head to far up there ass, but were still the greatest country ever to be on earth.
@tomanyasses Maybe but right now the present President is trying to keep the country going. I'm not a fan of the gentleman, and I love and follow NASA since I met Glenn in the 60's. But something have to wait sometimes, it been 50 years today since the first manned orbit, I doubt NASA will disapear within the next 50. Besides some of those shut downs was orginzed by my Republican party members. And it was under Bush that the shuttle was put on the block with no 2nd generation craft ready to go.
@candr i was there my brohter in law father worked on parts on the shuttle or space capsule and i had friend who worked on parts at boeing on the capsule and was high postition.
@tomanyasses Impressive, I've lived from the time when it was Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon on the silver screen to probes sailing toward the Oort cloud. Its something to tell your gandkids, you watched it happen in the early days. One of my grand daughters wants to be the first Lady Macbeth on the first Mars ship (interest in science and stage LOL something she saw on Star Trek probably) I like to hope it was some little part of my interest that sparked her interest.
@candr ya me to when all the neighbors were veterans of ww2 and davy crockett and buck rogers and all. its so sad to see its all gone and now not as exciting when i was young. but new technology is great, i really thought we would be on mars and moon in 2000 but i guess its more important to import illegal foreigners and make there lives better
@tomanyasses If we are importing foreigners...then how are they illegal? Besides we all were at one time, just displased by a few generations. Mine were indentured servants brought over in 1744 to South Carolina to work the forge for 25 years to pay back a loan of their families. I suppose there were a few blacksmiths of the time that were pissed off at them as well.
@candr your wrong in all counts . this was not a nation with laws it was tribes of nomads and the first here was whites just like the first to the moon was whites. to just because there imported dont mean there legal exceot in another criminals mind . this land has become a nation with laws now, thats how we have a country is following good laws. when we dont follow laws we are not a nation but a bunch of criminals like pirates.
@tomanyasses So the millions of nomads here had no right, you do know there were cities before the Europeans came, a few thousand years to be exact, so not all were the wondering tribes. As for the laws, I agree, and if they are good laws even greater, but laws are changed all the time, they shouldn't be just white laws. But it is interesting about the pirate thing, which means a person that takes what is not theirs, like getting rid of the owners to make it our own by force. In our case by law
@candr there not white laws only in your mind and white were here first beofre red skin but you keep assumeing what im saying and putting words in my mouth. did i say they had no right sseem to forget the first settles in 1430 ad were massacured by the indians ,women and children 60 of them murdered ,i guress they had no rights to . the white man killed no indians until they started the war. you seem to talk from a ignorant point of view but that ok tv wants you to be that way . end of talk
@tomanyasses Have it your way, 1430 you say. Well I'm glad there were books and records left to say who started what...oh wait...there wasn't. Anyway, when you started talking white this and white that, I just gathered that the other folk that were here for 8 to 10 thousand years might have had a bit more rights to be considered. But one event in the far north was enough to just ignore those I suppose, fact that others tried to help later, got a bullet probably don't count, "They be Red Men"!
@candr yes when your an idot who thinks everything on tv is history that ok it was written down again dumb ass your only showing how dumb you are then maybe the inians killed even more whites than they say since it wasnt written down like you say. and the white were here first thirty thousand years ago it was the ice age that sent most out of north america but thats ok when your a dumb ass your a dumb ass.
@tomanyasses Whites here 30,000 years ago, Okkkkk, (twlight zone theme) considering the first true caucasian was about 22,000 years ago and the first humans to North America around 16,000 to 18,000. But thats just from the experts, must have been that time machine. Besides the Ice age group that came over were from Asia. But if your happy with that bit of "history" then go ahead. Very surprising considering you wish to push the Mars missions which are devoted to science. But I'm just a domb ass
@candr i thought so i bet your kind laughed when they said bacteria was killing people man dude no wonder politicians are bad idiots like you dont know anyth , next youll say we never went ot the moon or there isnt no electricity. wow now throw in some more smart ass talk and make sure you get some dumb ass talk deny everhting you dont like what a loser you are typical shit hole of usa. no wonder we cant get much done bird brains like you are dime a dozen
People, we could build all kinds of rocket, spaceship,go to the mar, etc, but there are one main issue:money. We are in a recession right now and we are dead broke. 20 percent of the taxes money we paid go to paid just the interest of the loan uncle sam borrow. So the next 10-20 years don't expect any fancy thing coming from nasa. Shit, nasa is lucky socialist obama didn't cut deeper than he wanted. Had he has his way, nasa would be a temporary museum.Truth hurt!
The most disturbing part of this video is ....why do people at ceremonial shovel diggings always wear white hardhats? What up with that? Are they soooo important , but they dno't have a uniform they wear a damn white hard hat to feel important?
OBAMA has decided to send Americans back to the moon, but only if the crew is made up of minorities or women. The two seem to be interchangeable. See what being politically correct has brought upon the white man. We gave the minorities their freedoms and the women their equal rights and they in turn shoved them right up our ass. Now they will drag our country through the mud and muck. Way to go!
With over 170 moons to terraform, there is no lack of work. NASA has to drop off canisters of Liquid Cryogens to build atmospheric pressure on the Moon. The expansion ratio of Liquid Oxygen for example, is 861:1 at 68 °F (20 °C). And, 1 litre of Lquid Nitrogen will expand to 700 litres of nitrogen gas at STP. Same for all the other cryogens. Then we wait 2 years for these gases to settle before terraforming the moon.
It seems the Ares 1 will now be cancelled by the Obama administration. The U.S. is going nowhere anytime soon. Every dollar spend by Nasa is now a dollar borrowed from China. The U.S. is broke and needs to change it`s priorities OR U.S. children will be paying debt all their lives. Choose wisely.
@deathcomesarippin. If you right click on someone`s name and open in a new tab, you can see on the account of that person what country someone`s from as well (at least most of the time). Peace.
It has been in-development for decades and is the most powerful form of propulsion technology currently possible.
A nuclear powered rocket could reach Mars in as little as 2 weeks, as opposed to the 6 to 9 months with typical rockets.
Scientists estimate a nuclear powered rocket could reach Proxima Centauri in as little as 44 years as opposed to the 100000 years it would take with LFR or SRs.
SO MUCH more is possible, but the funds are just not there.
2012 is not a joke man cats and dogs will fall from the sky ppl will where hats on there feet the ppl of israel will all be breakdancing im scared :( <
nah dude what i said its going 2 happen no bull how i know these visions r true i was in my garage with the car running and petrol fumes give u visions :) so they must be true lols :D
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
America needs a Health Care program, suspend all of NASA. Going to the Moon again is RUBBISH ! Take care of your people USA! Get the hell out of the middle east ! Who made the USA the policeman of the world ! Going out in space is a WASTE OF TIME !
The spin off technologies thus far spurned by America taking the initiative in leaving our pale blue dot has lead to far more in terms of production and yes, economic development than was ever put into it.
As for healthcare, America's healthcare is fine.
As for budget concerns, 60%+ of the National Budget goes to wellfare programs, whereas NASA get's around 18 billion a year. 18 billion a year is a drop in the bucket when you're spending 800 billion bailing out banks.
According to Gene Cernan (The Last Man on the Moon),it would only take 1 cent from each person in America to cover the cost of going back to the moon - surely people can afford that?
that would only be like... 2 million dollars... thats not even enough to bring a shuttle into space carrying only a little dog! more like 10 -20 dollars per person... thats not too bad... and it would cover the costs pretty nicley I would guess!
first of all that would be 50 million dollars and second there are not 5 billion people in the USA... not even all of america... there are about 6.8 billion people on the entire planet...
@Hannerzzz09 I do not think that's true. 300 million people x $0.01 = 3 million dollars. You cannot fly to the moon for 3 million dollars. Maybe he said $1 per person?
@Hannerzzz09 surely thay can afford that ,they can afford to cover swiming pools with covers one thousand cihldren drown every year in usa, ten thousand children die in car accidents surely they could afford to make better cars to survive in, surely we could save the 95 thousand who die in hospital from mistakes evry year by hireing more people . the list goes on and dumb asses like you continue to talk
@Hannerzzz09 Why the moon though? If we want to go to mars, we go to mars. Easy as that. Von Braun had plans for a mars mission in the 1980's but NASA decided the stupid space shuttle was a better idea. We could have been there by now.
@Hannerzzz09 1 cent from each person in America amounts to about three-million dollars. $3,000,000. You couldn't do the math before you made such a stupid comment? A comment which I don't believe Cernan made? Because I'm pretty sure that Cernan is capable of basic math.
Sadly today, the committee for human space flight concluded that there is not enough support and cash funding to get Project Constellation to the moon by 2020. They are not even sure if they should go back to the moon at this time and may focus on other deep space travel to study asteroids
Yeah, it only costs $80,000 to send just ONE gallon of water to the moon ... sure, you bet ,,, money being no object to our government since they send all their disposable income to offshore accounts and have guaranteed 100% pensions for life ! !
yea this is cool. 2 days ago i watched a National Geographic show about how in 2020 they are landing people on the moon to set up a base, and then in 2050 they will (or atleast are planned to) have cities on the moon :O where normal citizens from earth can go to live there. it was pretty cool on how it explained how they will get their oxygen, water, supplies, power, etc.
most interesting: they will have robots that (un-manned) will create fields of solar panels.
.. and Britain, Russia, France, Australia, India, Poland, New Zealand, Canada, etc etc etc.
The first person to actually take the biggest step forward in rocketry was an American, Robert Goddard. Yes, the German V2 rocket designs and theories helped no end, but they would not have been there in the first place if it wasn't for British science advances, and American thinking.
@SC1337 This is 100% true, stalin wanted to dismantle germany into many small countries non of which was named germany. The western allies REFUSED this idea. The west helped rebuild west germany very quickley same with japan. The Soviets left East germany a POS. They stole all the machines and equipment after the war....its a shame they couldnt figure out how to use them. The germans are german today because of the Western Allies. Germany is a western ally and will always be.
Do you know how much the U.S spends on military every year? Makes 100 billion look like a drop in the bucket. Specially considering that your leaving the planet, to possibly live somewhere else.
People say that there are no aliens on mars, but if there, doesn't mean they are super smart or something, maybe just some strange plants or bugs,or something like that
Mars is barren. You'd be crazy nowadays to propose that there might be even lichens on Mars, let alone bugs. In over 40 years of exploring Mars, we haven't seen the slightest evidence of even bacteria. If there ever was life on mars, there almost certainly isn't now. We'll be lucky if we find primitive life on Titan or Europa, and even that seems bleak. (but still, go Titan!)
Yeah I know what you mean I'll probably see you in a FEMA camp somewhere, don't worry you can come with me when I break out there not sticking me in a plastic coffin.
"The challenge will be keeping the hordes of poor people"
Personal wealth is not a measure of character.
But you do have a point though, space colonization is a viable solution to over population and just like the past there will be no shortage of people willing to travel to distant lands especially in the third world. The problem is will technology keep pace with our over population problem to make this practical?
Not with this clunky hardware they're not you need nuclear drives and ISRU to get someone to Mars and back alive.
I think the private guys are going to beat NASA back to the moon and to Mars.
NASA's huge and fatal mistake is limiting themselves to 1960s methods such as the big dumb but not cheap boosters and single use equipment they are repeating every mistake Apollo made.
I think opposition to nuclear rockets is bullshit. All this worry about them becoming live nukes is nonsense. Nuclear material doesn't become a bomb unless specific amounts of specific material is combined in a specific way along with activators, tampers and a detonator. It's like worrying that hydrogen in water makes the ocean a potential global H-bomb.
Nuclear rockets have twice the energy efficiency of standard rockets. They only need 40% of the fuel that chemical rockets need.
I find this kind of sad. NASA should have been to Mars in the 90's, but we waste so much money on other things,(war coming to mind). Funding makes rockets fly more than anything else.
NASA = Joke. It's just a false front to give the public something to chew on while the real stuff happens in the space program operated by the military. Considering that of the 6 shuttles they made only 4 are left and only 3 of those fly. Made with the cheapest materials and built by the lowest bidder. They spent billions on the SSTO X-31 Venturestar only to scrap the whole design and go back to Apollo on steroids!? You dont move forward by stepping back. Advancement is not a Cha-Cha dance.
Your comment has a lot of catchy phrases, but it is simply criticism. Anyway, it isn't exactly easy to get into space, and just because they used the old design, doesn't mean they are "stepping back" They invested in a design, that turned out not to be the best one for the job, then they REALIZE their mistakes, and go with what will work, and you criticize them? Would you rather they stick with the 1st and fail? Or pay double and succeed? Space Program is the future, and it costs money.
Oh really? 10k for a toilet seat? 20k for a hammer? 500 bucks for a bolt they could get at home depot for 1.23? Don't tell me these People arent wasteful! You can see it in the fine print. look it up some time. I have lost faith in the program because they give you N.ever A. S.traight A.nswer. As far as i am concerned they need to SCRAP NASA and put a real civilian agency in charge, instead of just being a pawn of the military.
This is mostly catchy things to say, and just your opinion again. You use the same argument and the same old statements (about the toilet seat and hammer) that critics of NASA have said all along. After you use the same old statements you jump right into your opinion. NASA has come up with or improved many things; Fireman Air Tanks, Microwaves, Velcro, Solar Cells, Satellites, HighPressure Water Stripping, Radiation Hazard Detectors, Emergency Rescue Cutters, Batteries. We use these everyday
I never said that they didnt make advancements. They been lying to us for years. I just cant believe you buy into their bullshit. The whole program needs to be Shut down, overhauled and placed into the hands of CIVILIANS, not Civilian Scientists who have their balls on a Leash. You get it now dude? I'm a Supporter of the military, but dont say it's a CIVILIAN agency when it's obvious it isnt. It's classified as a DEFENSE agency under the D.O.D. And that is CLEARLY not civilian.
THAT is not opinion. That is FACT! You havent said anything or provided any proof what so ever that anything i have said is wrong. These ARE the facts!
1) They are financially wasteful.
2) They have not been 100% truthful about their discoveries and have Skewed the truth, and withheld evidence of their findings.
3) They have cut corners that have cost the lives of 17 good men and women
4) They have LOST materials and data that the American people paid for and entrusted them with.
2) About what? What did they lie and skew about? Is it OK for Microsoft to keep secret its latest OS?
3) They cut corners to save money I assume, but are wasteful with money?
4) I would expect this to happen to any organization, handling as much info as NASA
The other reply is again MOSTLY your opinion. I could give a hoot if its civilian or defense. Nice hearing you OPINIONS, but I wont reply to another 'full of opinion' post
1) Yet you can't list anything but Hammers and Toilet seat over 6 posts.
2) Who knows what they could have airbrushed, could have been equipment UFO = Unidentified
3) So no harping on how wasteful they are anymore? So if it costs 10k for a toilet seat that wont suck the astronauts out, you cool with that? Since it will save lives?
4) Yeah, how many ships you think they lost when they were discovering earth? Guess they should have stopped after a few loses, and never crossed the ocean too
Boy you really are as thick as you are stupid. i already said that the conversation is over, Moron. Did you not get it? Apparently not! Your just another mindless troll that would believe that the world was flat if NASA told you. So run along now Junior and do some more research into the subject Matter. Try Stanton Friedman, Donna O'Hare, Tom Van Flandern, Tom Bearden, Richard C. Hoagland, and Dr. Steven Greer. Now that you have been pointed in the right direction, go read and watch.
Bigelow will have a hotel on the moon and spacex regular flights before NASA gets back to the moon.
Also Ares I what a waste of money it's an EELV class launch vehicle but costs 2x more to fly
nice job of reinventing the wheel guys.
Also with no nuclear upper stages and robotic assembly you will never get to mars that is the law of physics and limits of human physiology deal with it.
No, ESA's rockets had 80% of satellites lauch, STARSEM Is more near with ESA than NASA, they give All the ideas for that, In 2025 It sur, one EUROPEAN man will walk on the rer planet. And In my memories, I remember they will lauch a little space station in orbit arround Mars because 2 years in space 16 month for travel.
Frankly i don't see why it has to be a competition, weather it be a EUROPEAN man, a CHINESE man, or an AMERICAN man? Shouldn't we be working together? Imagine what we could accomplish instead of bickering amongst ourselves!
How do the Russians have the most experience with manned space flight? NASA has been pretty active with the station, what manned missions have the Russians been sending up, besides resupply missions that is? they might send people up on the Soyuz, but its the shuttle taking up the station segments, and our astronaut's doing the EVAs
They built and launched over 40% of ISS and have done missions over a year in length plus their next generation vehicle is a lot farther along then Ares and Orion.
It's a well known fact that Ares I is unsafe because it has a serious oscillation issue and under performs.
Just google Ares I oscillation issue the only thing more disturbing is the latest fix.
They really need to scrap the stick if they wish to move forward.
If they stay with the Ares plan NASA is going nowhere.
Really. Ive been watching the construction pretty carefully and I don't remember them launching any segments up. I guess I could be wrong. I do know that they were taking care of crew transport wile the shuttle was down I still don't think that gives them more experience, at best they have the same amount. ether way I know that ares is flawed. Im not surprised because NASA is so political now that they wont pend money on anything good. our biggest loss was when they cut the Venture star program.
Zarya,Pirs,Zvezda were Launched by Russia as well as the MLM in December 2008.
I do agree the DCX and the X33 were killed more for political then technical reasons.
It also was foolish to kill SLI right when it was producing new engines comparable to the old F1 on the Saturn V except they were reusable the RS84 and TR107.
I'm just not impressed with Griffin's performance as administrator but then Bush did appoint him personally.
I think Ares V will work but it's going to cost 1B a pop.
why does it matter if appointed him whatever thats not the point. NASA has been behind the curve since the end of the Apollo program. In the 60s they did what they needed to do to get the job done. now days its more like, do just what you need to to keep money coming in from Washington. the shuttle itself was a joke. It was supposed be a 99% reusable launch vehicle, and would have only cost a fraction to launch has it does now...
...But Politics played its part and now its just barely not a wast of money. Just like with the shuttle the whole Constellation program will be good, but not as good as it could have been. they just cut to many corners for money. I agree, Griffen has been a disappointment. I see the future in civilian space travel really. The reason I don't see the EU or Russia getting that far is for the same reason NASA has failed, any Government run agency will Fail as son as the government looses motivation.
Why would you go to mars focus on colonizing the moon first with giant gasoline pip lime shooting of from earth into space so you don't have to come back down to earth to refuel all the time.

@tomanyasses Impressive, I've lived from the time when it was Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon on the silver screen to probes sailing toward the Oort cloud. Its something to tell your gandkids, you watched it happen in the early days. One of my grand daughters wants to be the first Lady Macbeth on the first Mars ship (interest in science and stage LOL something she saw on Star Trek probably) I like to hope it was some little part of my interest that sparked her interest.
candr 9 months ago
@candr ya me to when all the neighbors were veterans of ww2 and davy crockett and buck rogers and all. its so sad to see its all gone and now not as exciting when i was young. but new technology is great, i really thought we would be on mars and moon in 2000 but i guess its more important to import illegal foreigners and make there lives better
tomanyasses 9 months ago
@tomanyasses If we are importing foreigners...then how are they illegal? Besides we all were at one time, just displased by a few generations. Mine were indentured servants brought over in 1744 to South Carolina to work the forge for 25 years to pay back a loan of their families. I suppose there were a few blacksmiths of the time that were pissed off at them as well.
candr 9 months ago
@candr your wrong in all counts . this was not a nation with laws it was tribes of nomads and the first here was whites just like the first to the moon was whites. to just because there imported dont mean there legal exceot in another criminals mind . this land has become a nation with laws now, thats how we have a country is following good laws. when we dont follow laws we are not a nation but a bunch of criminals like pirates.
tomanyasses 9 months ago
@tomanyasses So the millions of nomads here had no right, you do know there were cities before the Europeans came, a few thousand years to be exact, so not all were the wondering tribes. As for the laws, I agree, and if they are good laws even greater, but laws are changed all the time, they shouldn't be just white laws. But it is interesting about the pirate thing, which means a person that takes what is not theirs, like getting rid of the owners to make it our own by force. In our case by law
candr 9 months ago
@candr there not white laws only in your mind and white were here first beofre red skin but you keep assumeing what im saying and putting words in my mouth. did i say they had no right sseem to forget the first settles in 1430 ad were massacured by the indians ,women and children 60 of them murdered ,i guress they had no rights to . the white man killed no indians until they started the war. you seem to talk from a ignorant point of view but that ok tv wants you to be that way . end of talk
tomanyasses 9 months ago
@tomanyasses Have it your way, 1430 you say. Well I'm glad there were books and records left to say who started what...oh wait...there wasn't. Anyway, when you started talking white this and white that, I just gathered that the other folk that were here for 8 to 10 thousand years might have had a bit more rights to be considered. But one event in the far north was enough to just ignore those I suppose, fact that others tried to help later, got a bullet probably don't count, "They be Red Men"!
candr 9 months ago
@candr yes when your an idot who thinks everything on tv is history that ok it was written down again dumb ass your only showing how dumb you are then maybe the inians killed even more whites than they say since it wasnt written down like you say. and the white were here first thirty thousand years ago it was the ice age that sent most out of north america but thats ok when your a dumb ass your a dumb ass.
tomanyasses 9 months ago

Then we wait 2 years for these gases to settle before terraforming the moon.

dav956able 2 years ago
Nuclear propulsion is a must.

Hannerzzz09 2 years ago 28

@Hannerzzz09 lol, you're right.
A fundraiser would work, if everyone chipped in.
But people don't want to because they are already counting each penny.
But in the future, maybe the economy will be better and people will chip in like 20 or more dollars.
So, once people can be more generous, we could start colonizing and terraforming other planets to help the chance of human survival.
Look up 2057 on Youtube (only 3 episodes), in my opinion, it's kinda realistic.

tomanyasses 9 months ago
@Hannerzzz09 Why the moon though? If we want to go to mars, we go to mars. Easy as that. Von Braun had plans for a mars mission in the 1980's but NASA decided the stupid space shuttle was a better idea. We could have been there by now.
tlages 9 months ago
@Hannerzzz09 1 cent from each person in America amounts to about three-million dollars. $3,000,000. You couldn't do the math before you made such a stupid comment? A comment which I don't believe Cernan made? Because I'm pretty sure that Cernan is capable of basic math.

yea this is cool.

Technically it already is very out of date considering technical advances that have occurred in the past 15 years.

A better plan would be the 1993 ELA plan but with solar electric tugs for bulk cargo transport from LEO to the moon.

Personal wealth is not a measure of character.
But you do have a point though, space colonization is a viable solution to over population and just like the past there will be no shortage of people willing to travel to distant lands especially in the third world.

LordBicen 3 years ago
Correction X-33 was the venturestar.
LordBicen 3 years ago

LordBicen 3 years ago
This is mostly catchy things to say, and just your opinion again. You use the same argument and the same old statements (about the toilet seat and hammer) that critics of NASA have said all along. After you use the same old statements you jump right into your opinion. NASA has come up with or improved many things; Fireman Air Tanks, Microwaves, Velcro, Solar Cells, Satellites, HighPressure Water Stripping, Radiation Hazard Detectors, Emergency Rescue Cutters, Batteries. We use these everyday
PosVibeMerc 3 years ago

I could go on.
LordBicen 3 years ago
1) Let me guess, Toilet Seat and Hammers right?
2) About what? What did they lie and skew about? Is it OK for Microsoft to keep secret its latest OS?
3) They cut corners to save money I assume, but are wasteful with money?
4) I would expect this to happen to any organization, handling as much info as NASA
The other reply is again MOSTLY your opinion. I could give a hoot if its civilian or defense. Nice hearing you OPINIONS, but I wont reply to another 'full of opinion' post
PosVibeMerc 3 years ago 2
1) You haven't done the research i have, that much is obvious
2) The Moon, Mars, Images taken, UFO encounters, "Airbrushing" images IS lying and hiding the truth.
3) cutting corners IS NEVER an option when it COSTS PEOPLES LIVES! Apollo 1, Challenger, Columbia.
4) The Original Apollo 11 footage from the moon walk, mans first steps on another world is considered an "Acceptable loss"?
Go ahead and wave the NASA flag. If your that stupid, your right... This conversation is over.

ESA will send astronauts on Mars before nasa
floflorenren 3 years ago
I seriously doubt that considering NASA has about 30 times the experiance than the ESA.
LwSiX 3 years ago 4
No, ESA's rockets had 80% of satellites lauch, STARSEM Is more near with ESA than NASA, they give All the ideas for that, In 2025 It sur, one EUROPEAN man will walk on the rer planet. And In my memories, I remember they will lauch a little space station in orbit arround Mars because 2 years in space 16 month for travel.
floflorenren 3 years ago
Frankly i don't see why it has to be a competition, weather it be a EUROPEAN man, a CHINESE man, or an AMERICAN man? Shouldn't we be working together? Imagine what we could accomplish instead of bickering amongst ourselves!

it's impossible with US, ESA and Russian is OK and with Canada too but with US i always impossible

No.

Well if they partner with Russia they will beat NASA to Mars.
Mostly because the Russians have more recent experience with manned space flight then anyone else.
Also the ESA could combine their ATV hardware with Russia's Soyuz and Kliper vehicles as well as the TKS.
Kliper plus an ATV plus a big cryo or nuclear stage launch by the Angara 100 equals a NEO mission.
But on their own they couldn't just because NASA has a much larger budget then the ESA to work with.
Membrane556 3 years ago
How do the Russians have the most experience with manned space flight? NASA has been pretty active with the station, what manned missions have the Russians been sending up, besides resupply missions that is? they might send people up on the Soyuz, but its the shuttle taking up the station segments, and our astronaut's doing the EVAs
calimann83 3 years ago
They built and launched over 40% of ISS and have done missions over a year in length plus their next generation vehicle is a lot farther along then Ares and Orion.
It's a well known fact that Ares I is unsafe because it has a serious oscillation issue and under performs.
Just google Ares I oscillation issue the only thing more disturbing is the latest fix.
They really need to scrap the stick if they wish to move forward.
If they stay with the Ares plan NASA is going nowhere.
Membrane556 3 years ago

Membrane556 3 years ago
why does it matter if appointed him whatever thats not the point. NASA has been behind the curve since the end of the Apollo program. In the 60s they did what they needed to do to get the job done. now days its more like, do just what you need to to keep money coming in from Washington. the shuttle itself was a joke. It was supposed be a 99% reusable launch vehicle, and would have only cost a fraction to launch has it does now...
calimann83 3 years ago
...But Politics played its part and now its just barely not a wast of money.
