  • @b0nedry even though we are the number 1 country in the world nice.

  • Incredible video. The bird seems to be addicted to danger lol.

  • If I were the guy who was reeling in the marlin I'm not sure if I should laugh or be pissed off.

  • Shouldn't have been spawn-raping

  • Naruto got his line from family guy!

  • Epic KillSteal! :P Go Sharks! =)

  • Hmm...dragging a fish behind a boat with a Great White going after it...eh, I don't think I'd want to be on that boat.

  • DAMN NATURE! YOU SCARY!

  • thats awesome

  • @jcmknl2004 i suggest you know what your talking about before you jum into a big boy conversation....

  • I love mako sharks

  • NOM NOM NOM NOM

  • yes da are but marlins are faster but when a marlins on the line that doesn't matter

  • makos are the fastest sharks right

  • gaff the mako least you have dinner :)

  • keep on fishing......you'll get one boat side and when it happens you will have had the fight of your life and be addicted for the rest of your life.

  • Fisherman: "Mako, did you HAVE to eat *MY* food?!" Mako: "Dare you try get it back, I *EAT* you!!

  • That sucks, I remember I was fishing next to this guy a couple years ago on a charter boat and he was reeling in this huge fluke it was probibly anywhere between 8 to 10 pounds, it was definatly a pot-winner. He reeled it in about half way and then all of a sudden I saw him struggle a little bit and I was wondering why. The answer came about 20 seconds later when he reeled his line in and only the gigantic head of the fluke was left, a shark bit off the entire body!

  • yeh the bird is happy

  • LOL @ the bird waiting for some food too xD

  • nature's law...

  • Stupid camping bitch! That shark stole your kill! XD

    FUCKING GAY!

  • that bastard shark took your trophy lol

  • did you go swimming that day?

  • lol

  • sweet video m8

  • It's a tough world out there, a mako's gotta eat. Pity you couldn't release it but whaddaya gonna do? Hard to release a marlin when it comes up minus a tail! At least the mako got a decent feed out of it.

    Awesome video. =)

  • Marlin taste like crap imo

  • LOL HEHE NICEEE DIPSHIT NICE NAME LOL

  • marlins always die.. because fishers have them on their hook thats when the shark kan strike.. because they are MUCHHHH FASTER dan sharks

  • And just about everything is faster than you dipshit.

  • @fishcrazyoz hahaha

  • @NaylahGreen mako sharks are the fastest fish in the sea.

  • No they are the fastest shark in the sea, fastest fish is Sailfish :)

  • @ParallelSolutions true, mako sharks are so fast they take bite out of orcas and swim away

  • @zillafreak127 sword fish is fastes lmfao... got get some knowlege

  • @arob006 yeah, but only by a couple miles that is why when mako sharks get adrenelin they can just barley catch the sword fish.

  • @NaylahGreen they hardly ever die from sharks you homo

  • As I have already mentioned, the marlins tail was severed once we grabbed the leader. At this point we still had no idea a shark was involved until we pull the fish up on the leader.

The fish was already dead when we roped it off and let the shark have its way.

And the shark is a shortfin mako, not a great white.

  • couldn't you keep it at that point and eat it? (at least what was left of it, lol...)

  • @fishcrazyoz oh great i feel much better now

  • mako sharks can grow up to 12 feet long

that is possibly a mako shark. they can also

jump out of the water at a height of 28 feet because of their speed. The shortfin mako shark's speed has been recorded at 50 km/h (31 mph) and there are reports that it can achieve bursts of up to 74 km/h (46 mph)

  • holy shit...

  • should put a stinger hook on too, yeah baby another round of battle, this time, its a mako!!!! =D

  • true...marlin had no chance cause this boat of herpes infested scrum had the fish teathered to the stern.

  • The fish already had no tail. To dumb it down for you, this is pretty much the same as you having no legs.

  • just once I would like to see a boat load of kick morons that are smart enough to cut the line when shark has their fish pinned up against the boat.

    not these hicks though.......too stupid!

  • Thank you for your comment, you judgemental poorly informed idiot.

For the record (again), the shark removed the marlin's tail when we got hold of the trace. The shark continued to shadow the marlin after this and so we decided to rope the marlin off and let nature take its course.

Why would we want to cut the line and miss out on all the action?

For the record the fish was intended for release...we never had any intention to kill it.

  • dude that shark just took your prize fish, i'd be pissed!

  • but the moment is lovely

  • How is anyone going to EVER EVER EVER find a video opportunity of a mako killing a free living marlin. These two animals are top of the food chain predators capable of extreme speed. Both fish are relatively rare(they are on the top). This means these fish swim around covering an enormous area of ocean looking for prey. (Do you know how much ground one usually covers trolling to get a marlin bite?) When they find their prey, they swim in extreme bursts to overcome it. How do you film this?

  • you are a fucking faggot.

  • i agree - absolute tosser isnt he.

  • that sucks!

  • lol that was your fish!

  • That's frightening.

  • I seriously doubt this event would have happened if the marlin wasn't hooked. Sharks are opportunists and will attack dying/struggling fish when given the chance. I just simply cannot buy the idea that a mako would be willing to attack and overpower a strong and fully grown marlin like that.

  • actaully-Mako do that all the time....they even bite the tailes off other sharks, blue fin tuna, attacks boats more than any other shark & they attack & consume blue sharks...

they are called wolverines of the sea...

  • Yes, sharks are opportunists and on this occasion the hooked marlin struggling was what likely triggered the attack.

However, makos are fast agile predators. The fact that the first thing this mako did was remove the marlin's tail is in my mind the mark of a successful hunter, experienced in disabling large prey to make for an easy meal.

Of course makos eat marlin, hooked or not!!!

  • Well, I could imagine them chasing smaller marlin, tuna, & sharks. But for healthy adults, I remain unconvinced until I see it for myself on video (unhooked, that is).

  • Mako's are so fast for a reason, marlins are a prime prey for them.

  • As I said, I'll believe when I see it--youtube, Discovery, NGC, or otherwise.

  • So someone is supposed to set up a camera in the exact right space to find this? or swim along with it? or what? Mako sharks commonly grow larger than 1,000 pounds and are believed to swim in excess of 60mph. Have faith - they can eat marlin

  • "They can eat marlin."

Yes, I know--the young and the dying.

  • "thanks" hahahaha

  • id be so pissed if i caught one of them and then it got eaten by a shark right in front of me cool vid

  • makos are agressive always on the hunt for prey.... and there big teeth... i certainly woulnt want to be that marlin. thi sis awesome vid thanks for sharing

  • cool

  • mMMMM YUMMY!

  • haha!

  • Eravar why dont we catch and eat ur dumb ass??

Sharks fucking kill and eat fish, its common sense. DUH

  • nevermind holy shit just get the fucking thing out the water stupid yanks!

  • The guy who posted this is Australian. Why do Brits categorize everyone as a Yank before do simple profile checks?

  • I'm aussie.

  • Stupid Brit, you can't just yank (no pun intended) a Marlin out of the water. Granted they could've brought it in faster, but they were probably resting after the battle.

  • Where 'bouts was this mate?

  • Catch and eat the shark! =O

  • dam.. youd be spewin..

  • The catch would have been released anyway.

  • I would have jumped in and punched the shark

  • You are a dick head.

  • and you, sir, have a 1" penis. FACT

  • Thank you for showing your true intellect. Twice.

  • lol

  • No, it's true. I've seen him do it before.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • like the vid, lucky to get that sort of thing on camera, makos are absolutely awsome animals.

they get big too. very underated as to how harsh they can be i think.

watch my vid ill post at the top of this...

it might upset anyone that thinks that fishcrazyoz's vid is cruel though. but hey.

  • nice did you guys try to catch the mako, and where were you fishing.

  • damn the marlin cant fight back hooked to the line..

  • The mako removed the marlin's tail while we were fighting it. When we got it to the boat we roped it up. Hard to fight back with no tail!

  • the marlin had no chance any way. where is this at.

  • Clearly you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You were not there, you do not know or understand the circumstances.

Please keep your ignorant comments to yourself.

  • Northern Pike always grab struggling fish off the line in lakes. That's what fish do.

Fish would eat every one of us if they could.

  • Makos are deadly. They lack the brute power and razor teeth of their great white cousins, but their speed and "fish hook" teeth are trouble

  • i seen mako's jump over 15 feet out of the water at J.B. not hooked just chaseing food. And people swimming less then 600 meters away unaware of whats just out of sight.

  • Plats out like an Ernest Hemingway novel. Did the mako leave a skeleton the Old Man could show at port to prove to the young whippersnappers that he at least caught a marlin?

  • Anybody for a swim?

  • Not a problem, the 'Jaws Syndrome' has had a long lasting, nasty legacy!

  • Benchly himself said he couldn't write Jaws now. As eassily as a great white or mako can chow down on a human, they & other species would rather eat anything else. In the case of the mako, fish, though the mako's general aggresiveness has been known to result in somewhat less than friendly encounters w/ divers.

  • SharkGoddess, thank you for adding some sanity to these responses.

To the others, please don't waste your time posting incorrect drivel here.

  • lol were do u get your info from can u prove that they do this its mainly dead tuna they feed them

    Sharks like tuna more.

  • Turkishskills, the shark was a shortfin mako.

Commercial fisherman, the video was made on Australia's East Coast.

Alphaman, the mako first removed the marlin's tail just as we got the fish on the trace, the marlin had no chance of survival.

  • Sport fishing like this can be a sustainable activity. Gamefisherman like myself contribute significantly to many small town economies around Australia and throughout the world.

  • Myself and most others involved in this sport take great care to release these fish in a good state of health. We use circle hooks to minimize hook related injury, and avoid long tiring battles with the fish.

Game fishing is my passion and long term sustainability is paramount. Regrettably some fish will die. This is the nature of fishing.

  • As human beings we inflict acts of cruelty upon animals for our own benefit on a regular basis.

Much of the food we eat and the clothes that we wear come from animals and I can tell you from experience that many of the processes involved to bring you the consumer the things you like are not pleasant.

  • If you think what happened in this video is an injustice then you are ignorant. The world is not made of cotton candy and unless you are a vegan then you are no less guilty than myself and the majority of the human population of exploitation and cruelty.

Please keep your ignorance to yourself.

  • How can a mako be easy to out run by anything?

  • hey fiona 1. your an idiot 2. maybe u shouldnt put down something without knowing anything about it, there is nothing wrong with sportfishing and fishing in general whats the difference between fishing and going to the grocery store to buy fish or any other animal, the only difference is u just have people kill for u so how is that better.

  • where was that

  • yea, was it dead?

  • was the marlin dead?

  • no he was wet

  • hahahahaha comedian

  • wooooooooooow

  • Makos are amazing. They cousins of great whites and can move incredibly fast. They're one of the few predators that can outrun and overpower big tuna and swordfish

  • Makoes are the quintessential embodiment of predatory lethality. I'm currently working on a short story about a mako. It's supposed to be an irony, because you'd think a mako was nature's lottery winner, but in it, the ability to eat more often creates a NEED to eat more often because of higher metabolism.

  • whoah! that is one hungry shark! nice video.

  • glad you like it!

  • wow. nice video.
