To make any sound on a spectrum 48K, you wrote 1 or 0 to a port which would turn on/off a speaker. That's all you could do. The coders back in the 80's were geniuses!
Yep, this game was .... quite bad, TBH. 1.99 though, so couldn't complain.
However, the music... OMG awesome in a ZX Spectrum! 5 channel sound. Decent tune as well. Unheard of, in a machine that had a crappy cheap beeper soldered to it's mother board. I used to load the game just for the music.
@YumanoidPontifex Sometimes that was the problem with 8-bit music, it was easy to recycle the notes and stuff, look at Code Masters for instance. Its still a great tune though all the same.
Man alive, this piece of music changed my life. I bought this £1.99 codemasters game when I was about 11 years old, don't remember much about the game but my eyes popped out of my head when I heard this tune fuzzing out of the 1 inch piezo buzzer, it was worth waiting 5 minutes for the thing to load just to hear this!

@CartoonsKick The game was a bit of a dud but the music is stunning! Tim Follin was a master.

@YumanoidPontifex
..in the way that it was not only hard bloody work but also fantastic. I see it as an evolution.

Does it also work on a 128 one?
MiracleKD18 1 year ago
@MiracleKD18 The game was only written in 48K but yes it does work on 128K mode.

@Otouto72
And does the music work on a 128k one, too?
MiracleKD18 1 year ago
@MiracleKD18 Its the same tune for both 48K and 128K, think there's a slight difference in pitch but its nothing much really.

This is one of the best 48k tracks I ever heard. Awesome for just a single beeper. Cheers

Yeah this is one of my favourites, shame I didn't like the game as much though, still can't win all the time.
