  • just installed a 12.5mm 1.5TB in my uni MBP 17" and it actually doesn't let the back pannel close all the way. It didn't bother me though, space is worth it....barley noticeable!

  • @OWCmacsales Does this void your warranty?

  • @WeAreTwoDoorsDown Installing the upgrades in and of themselves does not void Apple's warranty. HOWEVER, the warranty does not cover any damages that may result from doing so and physically damaging the computer will void the warranty.

  • @OWCmacsales So if I do the install successfully, and say 6 months later something totally unrelated breaks, I am covered?

  • Will a 12.5mm drive fit? I've heard yes but I would like confirmation (also heard no)

  • @myid9876543 Yes, the MacBook / MacBook Pro 'Unibody' models can accept a 12.5mm tall hard drive. The non-'Unibody' models is where the drive height really makes a difference where, depending on model, the 12.5mm drive may or may not fit. (Thus the confusion when looking for the information in forums and web searches)

  • Useful tips thanks!!!

  • what kind of screw drivers do you need for this?

  • As listed in the Tools You Will Need section of the video: #00 Phillips screwdriver and a Torx T6 Screwdriver.

  • when you install a new hard drive on a mac do you just use the 2 Disc that come with the mac to reinstall OS X?

  • Yes. That will reinstall the OS onto your new Drive. Assuming the disks you have are for the OS
