It's only part 2 and i'm already sick of reading comments by wannabe psychiatrists. They may have gotten some things off in this movie- but it's based on the experiences and experimental techniques of Torey Hayden, who was incredible at her job and helped hundreds of kids talk after years in isolation and silence by using bizarre exercises and unconventional approaches that no psychiatrist thought would work. Turns out none of them could help the kids and she did. So shut your faces and watch.
God that woman is f***ing useless! Piece of S***! The kid's traumatized. He makes a noise after years and flips out. So you get him restrained?! Real smart b****.
@FredericaBimble yeah he do play in ''silence of the lamb'' I loved his character ''barney in that movie.Dr hannibal lector only trusted him oput of all ppl he ever seened.
Dont sit BEHIND him out of his line of sight. When he is succesful verbally praise but DONT slap him on the back. With an abused child they need to SEE you, and see your hands, shoulders and eyes to continually monitor that your not angry. Ask permission prior to touching. "May I hug you? If you would rather not, or just dont feel comfortable with that today thats ok." What you may see as physical praise may be interpreted as agression.
You know, if he's soo smelly, why can't they bathe him when he's doped up on his meds, they seem to drug him unessicarly frequently. Why not use it to benefit himself?
@TheAnnoyingThing1915 If you look at him lying on the mat in seclusion, it appears that they did bathe him and put on clean underwear. And as far as meds go, when you're in a facility like that, if you act out, you are given drugs to make you more pliable and docile. If you're shown to be psychotic, you're usually injected with 5-12 mcg of Haldol (a powerful anti-psychotic/sedative).
How does flipping out when he flips out because he made a sound, make him feel safe enough to talk?
Just give him some space and he'll calm down soon enough. Reassure him that everything is ok. Then if he's still really upset, let him go back to his room or wherever he feels safe.
Don't freak out and have a bunch of guys tackle him. =_=
weird movie

Old movies are like this: watch 2 hrs and get nothing till the very end.

I've read the book. It's called "Murphy's Boy." The therapy sessions are a lot more complicated than what's in this film.

Psychology 101- NEVER touch someone without asking. And she put her hand on his throat. She's lucky she didn't get hurt.

Although touching him wasn't the reason why he got violent...but being able to produce sounds again, I think
