Busta sounded more like a hater then anything, all of the things he's downplaying have made the INDEPENDENT Artist more self-sufficent and in-turn less reliant on the Record companies to do it for them which means more money from their own work!! smh... Bussa Bust... need to "get up off the boo boo" as (R.I.P.) Pimp C would say!!
@JAtk2381 I don't see Busta as hating or anything like that. I feel he's just reflecting about how things used to be and just how times are different now. the dude has been in the game a long ass time, basically since when 'Scenario" with tribe called quest came out. the dudes just having some honest conversation with some homies.
@NicknNickson I hear where u're comin frm, but reminicing about how the Majors used to rape the artist as if that was sum'n to admire or look up to, to me is kinda on the ignit side.. Not sure if ur an artist or in the entertainment biz NicknNickson, but fam these distributors & Major labels will do all they can to take frm UR HARD WORK.. just feel as a MAJOR VET in this game Busta should be encouraging and promoting "Free-enterprise" & pushing the young ones to do it on their own!
Busta is 100% right...i wonder if he still has a scar from when he smashed his head through the window after listening to eminems guilty conscience for the 1st time haha
So he thinks it's a bad thing that more people can make music? The idea that this lowers the standard has always been false - it just creates more opportunities for people to make great stuff. And more opportunities for people to hear it. He simply wants to protect his share of a monopoly.
Dr Dre sold out SO fucking bad that I bet he CAN NOT look any of his old hip-hop legend friends in the face anymore after working with fucking Bieber!
Nigga with a attitude?! Pfff, you's a nigga with no attitude or BACKBONE.
Bitch, you a ho! You'd do ANYTHING for a dollar, so you's a ho to me!
He is right about some shit but when people argue about making beats with hardware and software its dumb. The hardware vs. software debate is irrelevant. It don't make no sense at all. People be saying a MPC or a Triton is better cause it's hardware but when you look at it, it's really not even hardware. It's still running software just like a computer. No keyboard is 100% hardware. Only key based instrument that is hardware is a piano because it don't use software to play the sound
@absurdny I agree but there are true analogue synthesizers that are to be considered 100% real hardware . I'm not trying to say they are better but they do exist !
@MrReman23 Which if one calls him/herself an "Artist" they should be fam... the prob is "The industry" has brainwashed ppl into believing different is bad and a negative when it's the exact opposite! nobody wants to hear a remix of the same shit day in and day out from different ppl! I miss when artist took pride in not sounding like the next man, and did all they could to stand out off their unique talents and not a predetermined formula of so-called success. JMO. 1luv
REAL TALK, I HATE TO QUOTE TED KACZYNSKI BUT HE SAID ''TECHNOLOGY WOULD KILL THE ECONOMY,'' AND IT DID SO FEEL SORRY FOR AMERICAS FUTURE. THE YEAR 2100 IS GONNA SUCK
Yes, that definately is insane. When a ringtone costs more than a song. The internet and MP3 definately killed the record industry. I don't really complain, however it is still weird to me. Because I come from an age (80's) when you still bought cassette (singles), 7", 12" and CD's. I still buy CD's cheap though. All the mediums have their plusses. But MP3 got not as much soul as CD, cassette or LP. I am happiest about how cheap CD's became through the internet.
I hear what Busta is saying to a degree, but yeah dude, get over it. Talent will still prevail regardless.
I never saw him as a powerhouse anyway, but more of a side act. Guess he'll have to come up with extra hustle or do something people are willing to pay to see.
I don't agree with what he says really. I love the guy, but he blames this stuff on computers. The real issue was how the record industry was being run and how it is run now. Also, just because things used to be good, with lots of money, doesn't mean it was right, or done properly. Had things been a bit more balanced and accessible, things would not have fallen apart like they have. Now THAT is real talk‼
All hip hop started out local, cats with turntables making music out of pre-existing soul and funk and disco tune, spitting in the park and at house parties, that's how this ALL BEGAN, Busta is complaining that the music industry got involved and made it so you needed a four million dollar advance to make a record? That's idiotic. You can spit fire on a computer or you can be wack, the technology has nothing to do with it.
Busta let me down on this one. he sounds like he can't change with the game. He must want to be a relic of the past. That explains a lot with regard to his sound becoming stagnant. STill one of my all time favs.
@TagzBloody I aint sayin an internet sensation can't be an artist... but they arent until they can prove that they're capable of selling millions of records with tracks that mean something... Cuz only ARTISTS can do that. there are underground rappers EVERYWHERE... and 98% of'em aren't worth listening to past the first verse of their "dummy raps" You are probably one of the 98%'rs who make a track, and post it to youtube with Em or Pac's name on it... keep talkin hater.
@TagzBloody huh?? Did you just tell me not to talk about someone i am related to by blood?? Here's a tip.. don't go talkin about stuff you don't know about. 50 is messin round with Euro-dance tracks, what label will that be?? I love how mutha-f*#$ka's think they know shit.. keep reading your tabloids, while i bring the greens to the studio, blowin tree's with the ppl you idolize and spread rumors about. and i ain't mad bra, ppl making music on computers aren't artists is all i was sayin

A click use to be a click now we just click... Welcome to the 21st Century & Real Life Vs. Internet think of the MC and or Marines service guys in around the world around that can now Anom send out rips...
@TagzBloody cause hes saying he misses when only rich rappers were dominant and could afford studio time ...hes mad cause poor people can make better music than him now using computers...
He's not jealous of people who know how to use technology...he's annoyed with how computers changed the music game for him. That's why he's saying he used to be able to secure multi-million dollar budgets for recording all of his albums.
Now, record companies aren't shelving out anything close to that kind of money to their artists anymore.
@RekstarBeats: you mean to tell me you think he's JEALOUS? are you serious bro? with everything he just said you detected jealousy and not 1 bit of truth? aw cmon man! get off it! the net is killing our music, killing the music industry as a whole and killing hip hop! just listen at you thats proof enough! anytime u have some screen name calling a multiplatinum artist JEALOUS... somethings wrong...I mean seriously...furthermore you think busta lasted this long without embracing technology? SMH
@RekstarBeats I think you're missing the big picture about what he's talking about. Back in the day record companies invested big dollars on artists to bring out an awesome record which includes the best producers that budget can buy. Another thing he's talking about is how hard it was to get an album deal back in the day and how you had to show skill that separated you from the rest as well to even be considered for an album deal. When everyone don't need skill anymore to have a record.
@puzzle247365 I agree completely. I'm from the 80's and 1 thing I miss about those times are the originality those times had and how artists were looked at as totally different from the rest, like superheroes. If you look at how just anyone can produce, sing and sell their own albums without much work, skill and very necessary talent, it makes you wonder what the hell happened. I respect those struggling artists trying to make cheddar any which way they can but don't be mad about the truth.
@jem2680 The internet killed and is killing alot of things. Look at the post office. Who sends letters now? We've got "e-mails" now. Look at Blockbuster Video and other movie rental places that have been closing. Who rents a physical movie now that's not at the Redbox at Circle K? Who goes to rent a video game when they can download it On The Internet!? People aren't buying CD's anymore cause they can buy MP3's or skip that all completely and have it "shared" and downloaded.
@RekstarBeats I've heard old guys moaning on about this in studios, they always seem to think that it's the younger generations fault, and they forget that they've already had their massive bite of the apple.
@RekstarBeats Naw he ain't jealous of new cats. He upset by how the game has been dumbed-down. There is too much exposure to the industry now. Late 90's hip-hop was on and poppin. '08 came and that shit slidin down hill.
@john200715 Don't ever say that Busta Rhymes is upset how the game has been dumbed down. He is stupid as shit, have you heard 'Look at me now'? Stupid fucker is a prime player in dumbing down the game
@john200715 Naw - I don't think its "dumbed down", its just that people cannot now be kept from exposure and a small group of people can no longer control who gets publicized and thereby control all of the profits.
Most of the music producers were parasites that stole credit from the real talent. Now people can control and distribute their own creations.
It still takes brains and talent to come up with stuff people want to see and hear.
People have to realize... Busta was one of the pioneers of the rap industry. So for him to see people come in that dont have any talent, then autotune themselves and make money off of it hurts him. He doesn't need autotune and shit to sound good, he just natually is! He had to work to get where he is, and people now days get famous for minimal effort. It's bullshit if you ask me!
@RekstarBeats It's strange, considering he's a leader of the new school (all puns intended). I remember when it wasn't cool to make beats on a computer. Rappers wouldn't take you seriously...The technology is different but game hasn't changed all. I love it, because the computer can make the world smaller...less leg work, right?
so the problem is stated! the computer fux'd the game up cuz it flooded the market with no talent, garbage ass youtube sensations. and Busta is right, it stole what made ARTISTS special. So, im thinkin whats the answer the the problem. How do we get back? Cuz, if more no talent garbage makes it, then the money Busta was talking about to begin with, is gonna continue to go down, and real ppl like him and the 50 cents's, the TI's, the Kanye's... etc.. it'll be harder for them to make their music
@magic42378 Not 50 he is in aftermath to.dont talk about him u dont see the position he is in and why he had to change his lyrics much more These days
Tru Tru it's all real talk bustah is dope aftermath dope but I feel you on that shit I'm trying right now wit my lil one song deal and going from there wish me luck
Busta left aftermath And he got dissed on I Need I Doctor by dre "went through friends, some of them I put on but they just left, they said they was riding to the death but where the f-ck are they now now that I need them, I dont see none of them all I see is Slim f-ck all you fair-weather friends all I need is him f-cking backstabbers when the chips were down you just laughed at us now you bout to feel the f-cking wrath of aftermath, faggots"
Someone already said it, but it's true... Internet has made music free, or of less value by making the tools necessary to producing it available to everyone. I think that's something positive. As a musician (like myself) you just have to forget about selling records to make a living. What will never be replaced is live shows. That's what it's all about right now. That's where good musicians show why they are good musicians. Use your experience and learn how to adapt it to this new school.
In my oppinion if the artist made a record, I go out to buy that record, the record wasnt even that good, only a few songs, Ill just be wasting money myself, and for them to even sell those few songs on a cd for 6 dollars, would be more waste of time...The internet should of kept it where if you only like some or just one song, go download it... Not the whole record..
The way music is accessed and made has changed... Downloads will very soon account for 80 - 90% of all sales, but also sales in general are plumeting yr on yr.
On the bright side... The web has allowed unsigned artists a potentially global platform to build a fanbase and sell there music and merchindise.
The point here is that Internet has driven down record sales to the point where recording contract deals are very scarce and in no reflective of what they were 5 - 10 yes ago. Internet had basicly made music free. So now, its getting to a situation where the only people prepared to pay for music us a true fan.
I had to pause the vid just t to comment. Quiet on the set, an O.G. is speak'n. Buss been a G. I'm Sponge Bob right now, soak'n up this knowledge and game. Aiiyat, "Press Play".....
Busta is the best i know he isnt hard as he used to be...understand niggaz grow old and mentality as to change i respect the grown busta and that hook with steve wonder man.....that is my life in a song.
the whole recovery is insane same relapse refill. show them some respect and stop download their shit show your support and buy them, Broke ass niggas talking bout 15 ´$ musch for a cd Pathetic
its all about computers deal with it....but busta is cool i bought a couple of records until the internet became massive lol its nothing but the truth ....

Back in the day record companies invested big dollars on artists to bring out an awesome record which includes the best producers that budget can buy. Another thing he's talking about is how hard it was to get an album deal back in the day and how you had to show skill that separated you from the rest as well to even be considered for an album deal. When everyone don't need skill anymore to have a record.
jem2680 9 months ago
@puzzle247365 I agree completely. I'm from the 80's and 1 thing I miss about those times are the originality those times had and how artists were looked at as totally different from the rest, like superheroes. If you look at how just anyone can produce, sing and sell their own albums without much work, skill and very necessary talent, it makes you wonder what the hell happened. I respect those struggling artists trying to make cheddar any which way they can but don't be mad about the truth.
jem2680 9 months ago
@jem2680 The internet killed and is killing alot of things. Look at the post office. Who sends letters now? We've got "e-mails" now. Look at Blockbuster Video and other movie rental places that have been closing. Who rents a physical movie now that's not at the Redbox at Circle K? Who goes to rent a video game when they can download it On The Internet!? People aren't buying CD's anymore cause they can buy MP3's or skip that all completely and have it "shared" and downloaded.
jem2680 9 months ago
@RekstarBeats I've heard old guys moaning on about this in studios, they always seem to think that it's the younger generations fault, and they forget that they've already had their massive bite of the apple.
EtcEtcAndEtc 9 months ago
@RekstarBeats Naw he ain't jealous of new cats. He upset by how the game has been dumbed-down. There is too much exposure to the industry now. Late 90's hip-hop was on and poppin. '08 came and that shit slidin down hill.
john200715 9 months ago
@john200715 Don't ever say that Busta Rhymes is upset how the game has been dumbed down. He is stupid as shit, have you heard 'Look at me now'? Stupid fucker is a prime player in dumbing down the game

@TrainedPwner ATTENTION ARE YOU THE GREATEST RAPPER, DANCER, SINGER, BEATMAKER IF SO MAKE ME A FRIEND SAYS 1ST GAY RAPPER ON YOUTUBE
SINGONTHEROAD2SUCCES 9 months ago
@john200715 Naw - I don't think its "dumbed down", its just that people cannot now be kept from exposure and a small group of people can no longer control who gets publicized and thereby control all of the profits.
Most of the music producers were parasites that stole credit from the real talent. Now people can control and distribute their own creations.
It still takes brains and talent to come up with stuff people want to see and hear.
lukejaden1 6 months ago
People have to realize... Busta was one of the pioneers of the rap industry. So for him to see people come in that dont have any talent, then autotune themselves and make money off of it hurts him. He doesn't need autotune and shit to sound good, he just natually is! He had to work to get where he is, and people now days get famous for minimal effort. It's bullshit if you ask me!
TheTrueOregon 8 months ago
@RekstarBeats It's strange, considering he's a leader of the new school (all puns intended). I remember when it wasn't cool to make beats on a computer. Rappers wouldn't take you seriously...The technology is different but game hasn't changed all. I love it, because the computer can make the world smaller...less leg work, right?

@RekstarBeats
sounds like you and the other 25 people that like your comment, are too cheap to actually buy albums.. its true, the internet has ruined music
NGenesis 6 months ago
so the problem is stated! the computer fux'd the game up cuz it flooded the market with no talent, garbage ass youtube sensations. and Busta is right, it stole what made ARTISTS special.

InSearchOfForever 1 year ago
The point here is that Internet has driven down record sales to the point where recording contract deals are very scarce and in no reflective of what they were 5 - 10 yes ago. Internet had basicly made music free. So now, its getting to a situation where the only people prepared to pay for music us a true fan.
