thanks for posting this! I am trying to get word out about FTA satellite myself. I just created a blog about over the air broadcasting. It's a shame more people aren't' aware of fta satellite, I LOVE it!
thanks for posting this video im saying this cause all the other people that have satellites are mostly spanish, mexican or pakistani english satellite videos are rare here on youtube
The receiver is a Traxis 3350 and the dish is a Winegard 33 inch. I bought it from a local dealer. He came over to the house with his signal finder. I did the work EXCEPT for pointing the dish. That was his job. I would have never found the right spot without his signal finding device (or at least it would have taken a long time). Putting the dish itself together is easy and setting up the reciever is no different from any other component. Scanning the sats for channels is also easy.
@reamce What is the name of the FTA satellite dish and receiver? Could you make a tutorial on how to setup the FTA receiver and satellite dish, it would be very helpful. Thanks
@kingscross30 The receiver is a TRAXIS 3550 and is easy to set up. Just follow the
onscreen menus. It scans all transponders on whatever satellite it is pointed at within 2 minutes. The dish is a 36 inch Winegard. It comes with a diagram on how to put it together. You just need a screwdriver. There is nothing to setting up the receiver but I had a satellite dealer come and install the dish on the roof because he had a signal finder gadget. It would take me forever to find the signal.
@kingscross30 I bought it from a local Satellite dealer. The name of the place is Taylor Enterprises. The guy does it as a hobby and was kind enough to come over and point the dish for me. He is strictly local.
Paid $60 for a HDTV Antenna... I don't even get 1 digital channel.
Mind you, I do live in Canada. But I though that was where this was first discovered.... anyways. I'm highly annoyed, I bought it to watch the superbowl in hd and I can barely watch an episode of two and a half men without getting annoyed with the static.
@unoder Does Canada have something like ANTENNA WEB where you can enter your address and find out what channels are available in your area and what sort of antenna you need to bring them in? If you live near the broadcast towers you are in luck but if you are far away or in an area where buildings block the signal you will need a larger outdoor antenna. I got lucky cause I'm only 5 miles from most of the towers. Best of luck to you.
@unoder i was having the same problem with my store bought antenna, then i found diy antennas on here that work great. Sorry i dont have a link but if you do a search for "diy grey hoverman antenna, it cheap, easy and works way better than store bought.
I just recently got a $23 HD ota antenna. My state is bordered from the north, east, south, and west. So I get 49 channels with an indoor antenna. I'm wondering what I would get with a more powerful outdoor antenna.
Some channels on there beat cable. For instance theCOOLTV beats MTV, Country beats CMT. There are 24/7 movie channels, etc. Most channels are full HD.
@21wf 49 channels is a lot! I thought I was doing good getting 30. Yep, the definitely look better than what is on cable. The FTA satellite dish has a lot of interesting progams too.

@wonder111000 Not that I know about.

@wonder111000 it needs a view of the southern sky. Maybe if you had a big picture window and you could aim the dish you might be able to.

It's free, yes, but also just a lot of garbage to waste your life watching. Why not do something yourself?
