I agree...try opening the horns diaphragms and flipping over to the other side of the diaphragms...then when tightening the bolts down..you should only make them hand tight lightly...they dont need to be cinched down....I have a set of the K5LA's and take them apart to clean them every year...

They are not modified. The number 5 bell is missing and the number 3 bell doesn't have a perfect sound.

Technically a K-4LA because of the 4A bell, but it sounds very nice. With a 5 bell, it becomes the K-5LA hybrid that some Amtrak units have.
