Yea, there were three A-100 Dodge "Little Red Wagon"s.... The last of the three was recent sold into a private collection for $500,000 at the NHRA Museum. Many other iconic drag- and super-cars were sold such as the Dodge Deora II.
@Sarcasticscum Actually there were 6 LRW's total. LRW #1 was wrecked, LRW #2 was wrecked, LRW #3 was built from the remains of #1 & #2. #3 was wrecked in 1975 and Maverick almost lost his life. LRW #4 was a 1983 D-100 that Maverick built when he went tractor pulling in the early 80's. LRW #5 is the on Maverick raced from 1988-2003 when he retired...the one in the video here. LRW #6 is the one bult for Don Garlits' museum, but never raced.
In the late 70's early 80's, Bill Golden lived in Searcy (Kenset) Arkansas. My dad worked at an autoparts store and sold him the paint to paint for the little red wagon and the later one called the little red express.
My dad took me to his house, and I went to school with his daughter.
Bill "Maverick" Golden is from Shawneetown, Illinois. His family are farmers. I grew up in neighboring Ridgway, Illinois. My dad was friend with his family. I remember as a little boy (I'm 50 now) visiting Bill and the Little Red Wagon when he was at his parents home for a visit. Great family as well as a real good guy! Glad that he became famous.
