@malleo1 Well Goober, not everyone feels the same about the D&D style. Just one of the Lord of the Rings movies grossed worldwide: $870,761,744. Also one of the other LORs gossed $921,600,000. So with that said there is a market for that type of entertainment and or game play. Probably one of the biggest mistakes made by intel. Also since I own a game dev and 3d animation company, I might just have to get my team of guys working on something in that area.... loosely said... kinda like it maybe.

@Scorpions824 I will probably argue with this statement. PlayStation 3 seems to be much more powerful than any PC that you can get at a sane price. Consumer PC's probably wont get to a level of PS3 soon because other than folks like us gamers most people don't really need this much power in one box. And even if you are a gamer who likes graphics as close to CGI as possible you'd rather pay 300 than 3000(or more). Sad truth is... now consoles seem to overtake games. Anyway that's just my opinion.
Yeah, you're probably wrong though. I got my PS3, refurbished, for 300 dollars. I could build a PC as/more powerful for about 400 or 500 (I say more because you're not likely to find a GPU that outdated anymore- same goes for the amount of RAM. The only thing you'll have trouble matching is the processor). I don't have to pay 60 dollars for my games, my online experience is entirely open source, and over time my experience lasts longer for significantly cheaper.

They say things like "Well, I don't have to upgrade my console every year!"- as if anyone apart from enthusiasts update their computers every year. I pay for an upgrade about every 3-6 years, a console cycle- and I pay significantly less for my upgrade than a console user. I also don't have to pay for X-Box Live, or PSN-Plus, and my games are significantly cheaper.

Brink's a perfect example. on the PC there's framerate problems, random sound bugs and connection issues - among others - while on the XBOX 360, however, it runs much smoother. That's because most major companies now make games for consoles, and gives PC gamers the badly ported scraps. Hell, Crysis 2 even came out for consoles now. So, I ask you, what's the point in all the tech if barely anyone uses it properly?

All repairable problems...Pc is dominant because of its adjustable graphics, great community, mod-fixes, capable of using any controller if your not comfy with a mouse and keyboard. Xbox and PS3 are trolls for glitches and framerate problems. I own a Great Pc, Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360. I love them all, but PC stands dominant.
Sorry to say it, but offset was never a game. If you look at the different uploads there's no storyline, just random locations and a lot of talk about the various enhancements on gaming technology. So now it's back to Elder Scrolls, although I can't say I'm sad that I have to play Skyrim :P

If you're wondering what happened to the devs you can check out Fractiv. Also, Red5 bought a license to the engine back in late 2005 and have a heavily modified version called Firefall. Check them out.
While there are suggestions that Microsoft bought rights to the engine, no one knows for sure.
What Intel has done to Project offset is enough to warrant me never buying an intel product ever again. So what if Larabee was a failure, don't drag the game that everyone's been waiting on for years down with it. Game got cancelled by Intel. This sucks, this game looked incredible. Even the demo's from a few years back look on par with most games now. Since Intel bought them out, and Larrabee fell flat on its face, I guess they would have no reason to fund it.

@Sam3r26 Hey, I watched the trailer in hd on my tv with audio speakers on, It is really amazing. But did you know that the gameplay they are showing is on its lowest setting. So the highest setting must be cinematic.
Eveyone, Project Offset will be a vast open world of medieval fantasy, you can join guild/clans, do anything you want. Become lawful good or choatic evil depending upon your will to the game. Just like Elder scrolls.

@sesestro yeah i remember seeing this a while ago and it said ps3 exclusive, like im talking way back before ps3 ever game out, but i guess that changed now? it has been a while, but people are also saying its cancelled

Oh man, I really really hope they didn't just quit after literally spending over 5 years working on what could be the most powerful graphically looking game ever. As much as I want to say gameplay is where games are at. This game was made for the graphics.period They can't just quit like this.....

Luckily, the founders of Offset have formed a new company, Fractiv. But there's no information on if they will continue Project Offset or work on something else. Hopefully Project Offset is not dead, I mean they've got to use all the media assets they created for something right.

@3wheels3souls It's been confirmed that Intel closed the development on Project Offset. They company's founders have have formed a new studio, but it's unsure if they are continuing the development or not.

But we have no idea what happened with Project Offset and the art assets they've created these years. I sure hope they have the rights for the whole concept! And that we'll finally see this game released!

Game got cancelled by Intel. This sucks, this game looked incredible. Even the demo's from a few years back look on par with most games now. Since Intel bought them out, and Larrabee fell flat on its face, I guess they would have no reason to fund it.

The failure of the Larrabee as a consumer product which had intel to shut it down, about the new Fractiv company: Fractiv LLC is a videogame software house founded in 2010 by the founders of Offset Software (shut down by Intel in 2010 ). Right now there is no news about the games in development at Fractiv LCC, neither there is confirmation that the fantasy game previously known as Project Offset ( been in development for five years) will be completed by the new software house.

@Sam3r26 The new Elder scrolls, bring Jeremy Soule (the composer of Elder scrolls 3 and 4) into this game and you will have a great masterpiece. Tip: this will be an open end game, you can do whatever you want, so you won't have to be restricted to that "invisible wall".

Eveyone, Project Offset will be a vast open world of medieval fantasy, you can join guild/clans, do anything you want. Become lawful good or choatic evil depending upon your will to the game. Just like Elder scrolls.
