  • Congratulations !!! You managed to make probably the Best of the Best video about learning the behavior of the Cue Ball after hitting the Object Ball in the easier to learn way. Thanks yand keep up your A+Excellent Work. For sure we, the beginners, will watch all your videos and thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

  • So should I imagine a 90 degree angle from pocket to ball on all shots and figure what the cueball will do from there?

  • Thxxx x)

  • I was talking to a line the other day and he told me that he had only ever been touched once.....and then he went off on a tangent.

  • Does Using Sides on Cue Ball can actually change the direction of Object ball?? I mean if I hit a ball on lets say 90 degrees without using any side, and if i Hit a ball again at 90 degrees but this time using left/rite side, would it be going on same path as it went on without using any spin???? I Hope i have make my Question Clear here :)

  • Nice way to explain Basics !!

  • i noticed, your tangent line shouldn't be protruding FROM the object ball, it should be behind the object ball.

a quick summary for the peeps:

the tangent line is 90 degrees from the path the object ball takes

Follow will bring the ball past the tangent line

Draw will bring the ball behind the tangent line

and english, aside from deflection and squirt, only changes the cue ball's path AFTER it hits a rail

  • wow.... a lecture for those with 80 IQ

  • @Bossiiiii if u would have watched this & his other vids, say 3-6months after having picked up a cue for the first time ever, you'd be extreeemly thankful. think about it. never mind the lames, marcus, i must thank u very much for helping a novice become a soon to be semi pro after only 3 years of play. the 50 hrs per week on the tables didn't hurt either.

  • did anyone see the final between xiotine pan and janet ouchin. shouting pan had ball in hand on the 2 ball. she just grazed the 2 ball and went straight into the 9 ball straight into the corner pocket on the opposit side of the table, amazing! my question.... is that still a 90degree tangent line?

  • I finally get it ! thanks

  • it would have been nice if you explained to us the principals behind how you determin the tangent line to us first. aka how you came up with your lines you drew on the table.

  • @mo2cros Tangent = 90 degree angle from the direction that you want your Object ball to travel.

  • @mo2cros I would think from doing that same shot, without the lines, (multiple times) and determining the line by watching where the cue ball went each time.

  • @mo2cros In essence, I guess only an extremely experienced player would be able to guess tangent lines off the top

  • for the first shot did he just hit the ball dead in the centre??

  • hush now baby, don't you cry.

  • very good video. just one advice, when you speak, practice before making the video to reduce the usage of fillers (uhh) as it would be much better.

  • great video, thanks for those lessons :)

  • Good video overall. When you said "blends of follow and draw", I believe you meant blending with left or right English. Novices may find this confusing.

  • Very good. The key to do good is to take control over the cueball, to help you do eayshots and avoid the harder ones. This video really is the starting point for this.

  • You should be wary of never practicing hard shots, though, as the position you receive from a good player may be difficult quite often, especially if that is how they play(with the intent of leaving a hard shot for you if they miss).

  • puta madre no le entendi ni madres !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mifa8382 hombre ...

  • the cueball can have spin..

on the center axis... you travel forward or backward of the TL

sidespin has little to no effect on the TL apart from a tiny bit of throw imparted to the OB

spin has nothing to do with the tangent line the tangent line occurs on every shot.. its the distance down that line that the cueball travels before spin kicks in is determined by the speed of the shot and the amount of spin applied..

a sliding cueball will always travel the TL

    good stuff FF

    SPF

  • Thanks for the feedback. Tell your friends about my videos.

    Take care,

    Marcus

  • Very nice video...Thanks

  • This is extremely helpful.

  • its nice to see someone explain the tangent line its really important. good job

  • thans

  • hi there. i noticed that u did not mention wether or not u gonna be using right or left english on ur top spin and draw shot.u only executed the left top spin and left draw shot. correct me if im wrong. i wanna see where the ball travels using a right english spin in this particular issue. tnx buddy

  • VERY Informative! The tangent line has always been a bit vague to me until now. Thanks to you I clearly know where the cue will end up! Keep the videos coming man!

  • very well described, thanks!

  • Just a question.. when you put spin on the cue ball, part of that spin passes in the reverse direction to the object ball?, i have played pool for a while and thats the idea i got.

  • Correct, think of the balls as gears and how one connecting with the other is reversed in rotation.

  • Now I just have to practice, thanks.

Great learning video, to the point easy to understand. Good job!

  • Cool..

  • one question. i noticed that when i add draw or follow to my cut shots, the angles are slightly off, can you explain how draw or follow changes the angle?

  • the only difference follow or draw makes is a reduction in the throw effect. that changes how you aim the shot.

  • thank you VERY MUCH this is SO helpful
